It's kinda funny that Adol is the only serious take of the hero who loves adventure more than women, when I've seen that caricature parodied a bunch across many mediums.
I swear, it's like he's married to Adventure. They have 2 children: Odyssey and Epic.

Adol: "Alright, time to leave on my next adventure! SEE YA!"

Yeah the new song is okay, but the original was still the best. I'm still really pissed that Crossing Rage only plays twice in the game. Since you're at the changed music I assume you already heard it the first time, since I don't think it changes before then. You only get one more fight where Crossing Rage plays, so enjoy it. The boss music you'll be hearing from now on is really lame in comparison.
I love that Adol finally looks older than 18. The whole angle of the Ys series is that Adol is some super-legendary hero who went on amazing adventures his entire life, but going by his looks you'd think they all took place within a 2 year timespan.
I kind of want to see an Ys title where he's this battle-hardened old warrior, but still has all the optimistic innocence that sort of characterizes all his previous adventures.

If Mark of the Sun is any indicator, it seems all the games apparently do take place in a 2-year timespan; it picks up after he first 2 games and ends with him and Dogi setting out for Wanderers/Oath in Felghana, and Ark takes place after just before or after W/OiF since the Romun Empire from MotS is gunning for Adol for shit he did in that game. The only one that breaks this is V where it looks like he broke 20, but between the lack of an english translation and its black-sheep status in the franchise it's hard to figure out exactly where it goes, if it's even still recognised as Canon at this point.
Wow. This platforming in Napishtim sure is bad. Yep. I love how in the time I press X to the time Adol actually jumps I could verbally tell him to jump and get a response back, in the form of a letter because he's a mute you see. It's still fun, but that platforming isn't. I'm sure the Trials will be full of jumps too.
Edit: However I think I've sort of figured out the dash jump? I can only do it by attacking though. If I press X and Square after pressing forward I sometimes do a huge leap attack. That's the only way I seem to do it though.
I don't remember there being any delay in jumping...
But I'm guessing you're in the Ruins of Amnesia if you're bitching about the platforming. That's really the only place it's problematic. Especially with the enemies all too content to blast your face with knock-back lasers.
There's just a slight delay but it's enough to mess me up. Like you press the button and then when you let go and the button comes back up, that's when you finally jump. I just came off this though, where you press Square and dodge. There wasn't as large of a delay. And that is where I am, but it was actually a treasure chest in the first trial that I didn't like. It made you jump on a bunch of tiny platforms that you had to do last second jumps on. It was basically the lamest.
I think that song might only play once. That, I think one other fight song, the last boss (obviously), and Crossing Rage are all songs that play only once or twice.
And that dash jump is confusing, because what the game says is do a dash and then jump. However it never labels anything as dash. But it has dash attack. So it's kind of confusing. I've got it now though, so I'm going to be jumping all over the place.
the second dragon fight. Speaking of which, these dragon fights are fucking epic. When the earth dragon knocks you off the platform and tries to run you down? Awesome. And since I couldn't figure out how to avoid... (I think I just figured it out) the Flame dragon's 300x3 shockwave attack, I ran down all of my healing items and won with a tiny sliver of health and one character left by using a well placed Extra attack. In retrospect, the stomps prior to the shockwaves drain the lava pits, I think - maybe you can hide in there...

I couldn't figure out how to dodge the shockwaves either. It probably did drain the pits, but it wasn't very intuitive. That attack and when the earth dragon gets too close in the second half are basically what I saw as undodgeable attacks. Sometimes I had to block the earth dragon because I just couldn't keep ahead of him with dodges.
For Kylos, head to the entrance of the cave that goes to Segram. Then head west and to the north.
It's very rare that I can say this about a game, but there is not a single thing I dislike about this game. Every boss fight pushes me to the edge, I die at bosses often enough that beating one on the first try with a sliver of life left makes me feel good, the character designs are cool and there are no irritating party members. The dialogue feels natural (which is straight up bizarre for a JRPG), the music is great, the plot isn't terribly original but it never feels overwrought. This is just a solid example of gaming, and it's a shame there's virtually no advertising.
The only problems are mission 7 and that if you want the best equipment on everybody you are going to grind so much. You need 450 soul stones (last dungeon only item) just for the weapons, and then about another 100 for the armors. Plus you'll need 60 titano spines which are incredibly rare, I only got 20 of them naturally and 20 through a treasure chest.
I don't know if you've totally moved on to Napishtim, but I just found out that with the Luck Medal, the resource points in the last section of Well of Souls usually give 2-4 Soul Stones, as do the reddish crescent moon shaped monsters.
Yeah that's what I ended up using to get the best armor and weapons for Adol, Dogi, and Aisha. There's a room that has three harvest points for soul stones and it's the best place to get them. But I still managed to reach 1,000,000 gold by the time I had gotten around 200. And since mission 7 was incomplete there was no reason to go for a 100% file.
I beat Napishtim yesterday. I didn't fight the super boss yet for two reasons. First, I missed the item to increase experience because even though I examined Agares's body it didn't give me the key because it still treated the area like a combat zone. I imagine I had to leave and come back. That means leveling up would take for-goddamn-ever. Getting to level 300 strength with the lightning sword is nuts, it would take hours of grinding. The second reason is because since I didn't want to do that I figured I'll just enter the cheat to max out all my swords and level and then just speedrun it.

I don't think I've seen any negative reactions to this game (I mean "I don't like this game," not "I like this game, except x and y"). That's a good sign.

Napishtim ended really crappy, in my opinion. We got this awesome fight against the antagonist, followed by
breaking a damn machine? That's the best they could come up with?

Yeah, the final final boss fight in Napishtim was kinda bad, but the last dungeon was really awesome, and the 2nd-to-last boss fight in it was good, too, and overall I really enjoyed the game.
I'm pretty confused in Ys Seven why the first dragon you fight is the most interesting, but honestly the boss fights in it are pretty good overall. The last boss fight makes me glad I kept my whole party in up-to-date gear, but it's still taking me a few tries. Stupid wind girl being so very, very bad.

This is very random but Napishtim also had a problem with women and clothes... As in those pixie girls needed more of them, especially that one from the trials.
Hey Gilder, remember how you said Quest 7 is missable? I just found out the very first quest is missable as well. I'd be mad except the reward was an Item you can just synthesize over and over again.
Argh, I totally forgot about that. Yeah you can miss that if you head back to town after the dungeon without giving it to her. They automatically kick you out of the house so you have to go back inside to give it to her. I did that because I kept waiting for them to give me the chance to give it to her and then we just walked out.

It's part of the input for it.
How many times does Scias play in the game? I really enjoy that damn track.

There is no dash aside from that >.>
Once you get the timing down pat it's really useful.
God damnit Amazon get my copy of Seven to me so I can play it
Women need muscles boys.

Cruxie's Dragon Blast is fucking ridiculous
90 sp
But I just one-shotted all 3 Dragon Knights, and it can almost one-shot the Giant Enemy Crabs in Moonlight Path
I think so. They never get any cheaper to use.
At level 5 they change and get somewhat better with more hits or something, but I never bothered maxing them out to see if anything happens then.

Rather than grind out the mats for all the best weapons, I basically picked a frontliner for each team and outfitted them with their best gear.
Playing through Ys Seven... these are some of the best, if not just THE BEST boss fights I've ever done.
Bravo, Falcom. I am super pumped to buy Oath in Felghana and the 1&2 collection now.

Is it just enemy difficulty that goes up on Hard, or do they also give you less money/etc.? If the latter is the case I'm not sure I have the will
If you've only defeated the earth dragon and wind dragon, go to the desert town.
