Yeah you went in totally the wrong order just so you know. It's a little open ended at that point, but basically you're going back to all the previous areas, watching a cutscene in the nearby town, and then heading back to the altars. They want you to go in the order you first went through. So wind should have been last, but it doesn't really matter. If you unlocked the way back to that town you should just spend all your money on equipment there. It's the best you can get until one shop updates after all the dungeons and then after that it's synthing the ultimate stuff.
but all of the npc's keep telling me to tie up my loose ends. I created a special save before heading out, will I be able to return to finish up some quests? There are a couple of extra titanos I haven't taken on yet.
Almost halfway. Quests 1-12 must be completed before you head off, with the exceptions of quest 2 and 6 or whatever. Tia's request and the monster in the Segram cave. 13-20 are whenever.

Loving the game, can't wait for the other to release.
Fuck, Felghana is tomorrow? Goddammit, I thought it was later this month. Guess I'll have to order off amazon since I didn't pre-order the limited edition.

Do want. I almost think Felghana deserves its own thread, because it'll be that awesome.
You're really worried about the LE? I bet money I can walk into any GS in SoFla right now and still get Ys Seven's LE.
My Gamestops don't order PSP games. The only Ys 7's they got were the one pre-ordered LE and my normal. That was pretty much it. However I just ordered it off Amazon, so I got it for $38. Nicer than $40 plus tax at gamestop.
It's a remake of 3 which I think was on Genesis, and the original 3 was pretty bad in the eyes of most Ys fans. Then they upgraded it for PS2 and it was a little better, but not much. Then they just said screw it and remade the whole thing and called in Oath in Felghana. It then shot up to be the game many fans consider the best in the series.
Yeah, that weird side-scroller. I remember getting killed on the first two enemies over and over when I rented it. I eventually beat it by exploiting auto-fire on my Super Advantage and stabbing those endlessly-spawning eagles about midway through.
I think Amazon is having some order issues, because both the standard and limited for Felghana are saying 2-5 weeks for shipping. I'm in no rush, but that's pretty odd. The standard should at least be shipping now. There's no way the print run was that limited.
Amazon seems to be doing strange things with a lot of video games lately, including directing me to one of any number of "Sold by JoeSchmoeXXX, fulfilled by Amazon.com" vendors instead of "ships from and sold by Amazon.com". Not for obscure games either -- things like Vanquish, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, etc.
I'm liking the game, but I'm definitely feeling the limitations of the old combat system again. It's just like 6 in the way that Adol has no real way of stopping damage. He can't really dodge except for jumping or the jump slash, and the shield is just for show. So it makes bosses kind of frustrating compared to 7. I died a few times to the second boss because sometimes I just couldn't dodge the lunging strike. At least combat is more fun than Napishtim though.

Oh my god this boss music in Felghana is amazing. Except for when I died with 65 health left on the third boss I didn't even mind my other deaths. I got to keep listening to that rockin as hell tune.
Okay so, anybody who's played Felghana before want to give me some end-game advice, seeing as this is my first time?
I'm assuming Genos Island is a point of no return, so where the heck do I go for special stuff right now? Like I need something for the final shield and I have no clue on armor. I'm also missing a bunch of jewels. 1 Topaz and all 3 for the spinning sword magic. I'm also missing whatever you need to make the skeletons stay dead. I have the healing cloak and war god talisman though.
So anybody feel like giving me a nudge in the right directions?

IIRC, you get the 'stay dead' talisman by rescuing the mopey old woman's son - he's in the first mine dungeon, but I forget where. I think the last topaz is in the final ascent in Valenstein Castle.

That's all I got without pulling up gamefaqs.
Okay I have an idea where the topaz is, but I don't think the talisman comes from Bob. Bob is basically required by story to stay alive, and the first dungeon gives his pendant so you can get the light talisman. So I got that and then when I found him in the dungeon at the end I told her he was alive. She thanked me, I got nothing, and now they're chilling in the church together. A guy in the church still mentions the thing for the skeletons though, so I don't think I missed it. After every story event I always went back and talked to everybody so I doubt I missed a quest....
Also I just want to say that if raval ore is supposed to drop off enemies then the game is bugged. They said at the start that it may stick to animal fur or whatever, but that's a lie. I've gone through almost the whole game and not a single piece of ore has dropped off an enemy. I only get it from chests and characters.
Okay wait, is that not actually a point of no return area? Because they made it sound like it, but at the same time I was getting kind of confused because it sounded like I had to go there for the shield. If I can just warp back once I find a save point then that's great. I was just afraid it was like Napishtim where you really couldn't go back when they said you couldn't.
It's sorta like the island in seven. Once you go, you can't come back until you complete the dungeon. After that you're free to come and go as you please.
Ah okay, then I'll go ahead and make some progress instead of looking around for stuff I missed. I'm not quite sure how I managed to miss all the stones for the spinning spell, but what are ya gonna do?
Aw man, my method of using the empty weapon and armor slots to gauge progress has failed me! Oh well, I'm glad to hear that. I'm liking the game a lot so I don't want it to end yet. It's a heck of a lot better than Napishtim so I'm enjoying that.

I'm at the lava underground now. The boss fights are so good.
The only fight I haven't enjoyed very much is the fourth statue boss.
Okay I don't know how the attack looked on the PS2, but the icicles it sends at you when it flaps its wings are almost invisible. I really had to pay attention to even see them, because they gave them a clear crystal effect. Fantastic, but now they're see-through. So how do I see them?
Also the free-falling attack is pretty crazy as well. I have no idea how you dodge that, because I couldn't anticipate their locations at all. I think they shrunk the vertical view for the PSP screen and that would explain it. That or I just missed the signs, because I only got hit by it once.
Oh, that fight is fucking BRUTAL. I can't tell you how many times I almost threw my controller at the wall. I seem to recall there's a trick to avoiding the icicles, but I can't remember it. And that freefall bullshit? Goddamn. If he catches you with the initial swoop, say goodnight. You can dodge one platform, but fall acceleration guarantees you'll hit two.
I'm glad it wasn't just me, because half the battle was just me saying "Oh god please don't go off-screen. Nothing good ever comes from you going off-screen. Aaaaaaaaaaaah icicles shit shit shit how in the hell do you even dodge these things?!"

Ys 3 is a bit of a console whore.
Man, I can't believe it's coming out tomorrow. I'll even have it by this weekend!
Edit: All I can hear when Dogi talks is Ragna the Bloodedge.
JOY
I like how the LE boxes and game cases line up to make an image. Both .hack series did that too.

Also, I'm pretty sure raval doesn't drop from enemies until maybe the last dungeon or something.
Edit: Bonus content - my favorite track from Felghana (maybe this was already posted [hell, maybe I posted it])

Napishtim's opening was way better though.

But it's so satisfying when you finally win.
Yes indeed. http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=84324
off-topic: I don't really like GameStop, but they actually have pictures of the product.
Well now, it's a good thing I didn't buy the regular edition when I saw it. This is good info.
