Paypal Woes +NCsoft woes.

So my Fiance's paypal account went into "limited" state, . She attempted to buy Aion from the NCsoft web site, it instantly got held by paypal. It then got released, NCsoft took the money while it was limited, and then "permanently blocked" her NCsoft account, AFTER taking her money. All this happened in the span of about 10 seconds or so. So she is now out $40 USD, plus another $43 USD inside the paypal account which they wont let her have access too, and she has no Aion game to show for it now.

On her paypal account it is now asking her to re-confirm pretty much EVERY bit of personal information possible. She faxed it all to them and has had no response so far. Apparently they weren't sure it was her using the account to purchase Aion for some reason (Even though they accepted the money used, from her personal bank account.).

Anyone out there have some info on a situation like this? All she wanted to do was join me and play Aion, now Paypal has fucked up everything and because of paypal holding then releasing money like that it seems to have also screwed up her NCsoft purchase and got her perma-blocked, even though they took her money anyways.

Help?

I have used Paypal to both buy and subscribe to Aion. (the PlayNC site store, specifically).

I haven't run into or heard of this issue with NCsoft games.

However, I did run into this issue with Paypal a number of times (they pay something, then block the account, then ask for details).

How it happened for me is that I used Paypal too many times without "verifying" my account, which involves me giving Paypal all the information needed to impersonate me, as well as a primary bank account. "Verifying" becomes mandatory after using a given Paypal account for $1,000.00 (total, not all at once).

As for her Aion game part of this, clearly she has paid for an account, so I would ask them to unlock that.

Can she log in to the website using her account at all? The address is "https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/accountManagement.pl" I would try that and see if it works, since she can email tech support from that page. If not, she should go to "http://help.ncsoft.com" and click on the "Ask a Question" tab on top of the help topics. This will let her send an email right from that page.

I haven't had the slightest trouble getting help from NCsoft, although they normally take about a business day to get back to someone.

EDIT: I've checked on the site, and although there are a number of entries about using Paypal, they only mention problems if 1) using non-US currency or 2) buying/upgrading Guild Wars as part of the purchase. I can't find a reason that NCsoft would block the account (assuming that Paypal didn't initiate the block?).

    Great Scott on

Yeah she cant even log into the account at all, if she tries it says "This account has been permanently blocked". So basically they took her money and banned her account within the span of about 10 seconds. It may be due to the weirdness of Paypal, Paypal has actually now said in her account that they themselves have e-mailed NCsoft and received a response about the issue and it looks like the payment was taken back and put on hold until the account issue is worked out. So hopefully that part of it works out.

Regardless, she had already confirmed her account, years ago. She has been using this account for a number of years on E-bay, for Steam purchases ect. We can't figure out why now it flags her account and wants her to send in the same personal info they already had to begin with, for a $40 purchase for a game, something that is not a strange occurrence for her. On top of that it was a Hyperwallet purchase, which means the funds were transferred into forums.penny-arcade.comersonal banking account, and then used to purchase the game, something only she would have been able to do as it requires the bank to OK it with her. The whole situation just makes absolutely no sense at all.

Wait, has NCSoft banned her game account or is it just her paypal account that is blocked? Last thing I heard (2 yrs ago) it was NCSofts policy to permaban accounts if there was a charge back. No matter what the reason. Apparently stuff like that leaves a black mark on company names in banking circles or something, so they have 0 tolerance for it. So if it's her NCSoft account that is banned for taking money back, they may not unban it ever, even if you can get paypal to admit that it was their fault. If they do, it's probably gonna take alot of nagging and would be easier to just make a new account, unless she has other games associated with it.

As for wth paypal is doing and why, I have no idea. I have very little experience with using it.

Thanks, Siska. I think we've got it all sorted out now.. I just have to wait for paypal to finish it's overview of the funds and put them back into my account. The money is in my account now, but back on temporary hold for I think another 3-5 days. They were quick about sorting it out, thank goodness! I just need to go about getting another NCSoft account, which I hope will be easy and stress-free.. After that I am going to physically buy it on a store, so I don't F myself up doubly 8-) LOL
