I think the issue at hand is pretty self-evident from the thread title; i've got an Xbox Live account I created in the UK, and I want to use it in Australia. I don't know how much of a problem this is going to be. AFAIK, MS are complete Nazis about changing your account's country of origin; if this has changed and you can in fact change it, please let me know! Otherwise, i'm going to want to play games online from my UK account, but I don't want to be routed to game servers in the UK! I would also like to be able to pay using my Australian debit card, but I suspect this is going to be something I can't get around.
I don't have anything on my UK account i'm particularly afraid of losing; but I don't want to create an AU Xbox Live account and then be unable to access all my stuff if/when I move back to the UK either!
So... how much of this is going to be problematic? I've held off paying for my gold account so far because i'm worried i'll either get 10,000 ping, or a message saying "BLARGH! YOU CANNOT PLAY THIS GAME IN YOUR REGION BECAUSE WE HATE YOU! BLARGH!". Are either of these likely?
You can't change your country of origin, but from what I understand matchmaking works by IP and connection strength, so you'll be fine (although in practice you'll still get matched with Westerners just because it seems to work out that way).
