Also, if you know someone suffering from Snake's particular malady, the player reads all of the game text out loud, so you can invite them to listen to the game.
Also, my bad. Ace doesn't give Akane any hints to the last game. I guess sudoku did go out of fashion or something... Actually, it's odd, I would have expected Lotus to know what the game was when it showed up, as old as she was, and having been a computer expert.
I guess I can retract some of my rage at akane for not being able to solve a sudoku puzzle without knowing the rules to it. On the other hand, in the future, I expect everyone to have 3DS's and BrainAge3D with Super 3D Sudoku on it, so she's a terrible person. For obviously not supporting Nintendo in her youth.
Heh, that was the path that I took on my first run. And then I totally did not get what the video afterward was trying to show you.
Also, that person's voice is really, really annoying.
As soon as my brain registered what was going on and such, I did a double-take at sudoku too. I don't know though, it just never filled me with as much hate as a lot of people apparently had. I think maybe I was too wowed by the whole meta gameplay function and reason of turning the system upside down.
I'm also super glad they didn't go and put the time limit in the puzzle either. Sure, sudoku is easy enough, but it was still tricky enough without the ability to have a memo function. I would have surely choked.

Ending:
Well, it took me dang near an hour to solve it. Imagine with a furnace and a hysterical state of mind.

I went nuts at the
Sudoku ending puzzle, because I fucking love Sudoku
The entire time the cutscene was playing I was thinking "I could have solved this by now"
So I avoided this thread like the plague, but finally put it down, and wow, never thought to spend so much time on a single DS game.
True end spoilers (and kinda movie spoilers?):
All I could think about was that movie Frequency during the final puzzle. I never knew what Sudoku was until I was much older, as well, so I'm pretty sure I'd be burnt toast in the same situation.
Also, I missed an ending, can anyone fill me in?
The second ending, with the coffin icon. After I got the Safe ending, the preview pretty much told me how to get the True one, so I never got to see the second one.

You already saw that ending.
It's the same as the true end except cut short with a TO BE CONTINUED slapped on right after hearing the coffin noises.

There's a voiceless LP (technically a Long Play) of the safe ending path and the true ending pathhere. Really handy if you're trying to scan for a particular bit of dialogue or clear up a plot point without having to hold down 'skip' for an hour.
All right, so I started this game last night and it's pretty good so far. I'm about to go through my first numbered door, aside from the starting room. I don't want to sit here and perform all the calculations necessary, but it looks at a glance like:
unless I keep everybody alive from here on out, at least one other person will have to die before the end, since the last door is a 9 and it wouldn't be possible for everybody to add up to that root without everybody else alive. I could be wrong about this, especially if the killer has some special rule about the final door.
Man, basically the only time where I just froze up and dropped my DS, mind unable to deal with what the game was showing me, was when you get to the FINAL room (I think this was on ending 4 for me, but it might have been 3, I forget if you go there in 3)...
And you find out there are two 9 doors.
The game has been leading you to that door for hours and hours now, and then...whoops! No need for all that fighting and betrayal, everyone could have just gotten through safely.
For about thirty seconds, I just could not deal with this game. It makes sense, looking back at all the other sets of doors, but the game never really gives you any hints that it will happen. The fact that Junpei has basically the same reaction just added to the effect on me.

Ghost Trick was pretty damn amazing, and so far I'm not seeing anything particularly egregious in this game, but it's not as enjoyable as GT for damn sure
The horror aspect that was so hyped up is pretty absent; it's not really pervasive and I am never really scared for my character, but maybe I'm just making all the right choices so far or something
Okay, I just got ending 2, but it didn't make any sense.
Santa was guaranteed going through door 9 without threatening June. So... why did he threaten June? It had better not just be an idiotic excuse to make me go through door 6 instead of 1 in order to get the pistol before he does.

Oh, and Snake is totally in that casket.
It's the 2nd worst ending to get, but at least it leads you towards the true ending.
I'd recommend going for the other endings first.

So, um, now that I've gotten ending 2 without looking at a walkthrough or anything, should I consult some spoiler-free guide to get other endings in a specific order or just do things really differently from how I did them the first time?

Did you watch the preview movie?
It shows you how to get the Safe ending. If you want the other endings, don't follow that path.

Watch the path the preview movie shows you, and when you feel like getting the true end (which should be after you get the other endings, follow it).
For the other endings, just end your path in a different room each time (or act like a complete jerk and ignore everyone on that ending 2 path).
Okay. So I'm going for failure this time around, with Axe.
It really kind of bothers me that you can't actually win the game on your first playthrough. I did the very best I could possibly do, made all the best choices and still got a "bad" ending.

Well, that's why the game is selling more and more now.

you will be, it's got major problems and the story is somewhat infuriatingly bad in some points
Rent, is there an "invisible field" between us, allowing us to exchange that information remotely when the time comes?

This is a big reason Ghost Trick is far more enjoyable so far

It leads to happiness and candy and love.
Yeah I'm well aware of what's past Door 3
It is even more appropriate now
