Alright, bought 'em. Need to finish the latest PW game first, though, I don't think I can keep two complex plotlines in my head at once, but now I have something queued up next.
I will say I wanted to get into Danganronpa, and own 1, 2 and Ultra Despair Girls - but am still stuck somewhere in the middle of 2, and DR1 took me ages.
I don't find the plot to be nearly as compelling - and 2 starts off with some pretty terrible fanservice.
I normally don't care about that stuff (love Persona, Zero Escape) and can tolerate some eyerolly fanservice, but the beginning of DR2 had some stuff that literally made me quit the game because I was on the bus and was like eeeeeh no thanks.

So, I've been going through this and I'm kind of at a loss for what to do. Every fragment I've got is fully explored (more or less) save for
C-Team and Q-Team's Force Quit Boxes and Sigma/Diana's Door to the Truth. I know the Twin's Birthday but when I play the scene where Q and Eric find the door, it just...ends when Zero knocks them out.
I've looked at a few hints in the thread but have been trying to be careful about what I look at, so I was wondering something,
I have changed the vote so that all three teams have been executed once. So in the upper left corner, I have all four lights lit up, the one for Nobody Executed and then the three Team Specific ones. Does having one of those outcomes 'active' make a difference? Like, if I go back and make sure one of the Teams is executed (Or I guess redo it so nobody is) will that open something up?

Having seen all 4 scenes is enough, there's no need to play with that anymore.
What unresolved branches/questions do you have left? One extremely common sticking point is Eric's question of "Who killed Mira?". Which you think is unanswerable at the time, but it absolutely is.
Either do nothing or type in "I don't know".
And just to be clear, you know the twins birthday, and you mentioned Sigma's Door to the Truth. That's the door you use it on, not Q and Eric's, and you saw everything there?

Ah, okay.
I'd done both branches of the Mira question, so the only real advance point I had was the Door of Truth. I must've screwed up the number entry because I just tried it again and it worked.
i feel like the payoff of the endings of both mainline games makes it worth it (UDG, probably not so much) but could easily understand not feeling like it's worth it
The Internet is a world of hyperbole and all, but I can only think of one instance across all that I've seen of the series (the two "main" games and the anime) where sex and violence were deliberately conflated, and that was a result of the character to whom it occurred's prior characterization. If what amounts to a slasher flick is coming across as pornographic in that aspect (I will not attempt to excuse the fanservice elements), that's on you. I only found it deeply disturbing, which, for a game about capital-D Despair, seemed appropriate.
EDIT: Like, to keep this a bit on-topic, I don't think DGR goes any farther than 999 did, what it with its sudden transition to multiple-paragraph lurid descriptions of charred globs of fat floating in spreading pools of blood. It always struck me as darkly comic just how intense and detailed the descriptions got compared to every other part of the narration in 999. DGR uses hyperviolence for the same effect.

This is not at all what I was saying.
Things like [Danganronpa 3 Despair]
The bizarrely sexual way Yukizome's brainwashing scene was shot
And
[Ultra Despair Girls man so I really have to say this one]
The sexualisation of an underage rape survivor, with minigames
Start to recontextualise the whole thing in my mind and throw into question the writers intent.
And it's not like it takes that much effort to question the writers intent with Mikan, who I assume you're referring to. I don't give a stuff that it's part of her characterization.
Its completely voiced now (999 that is), and it looks like they were smart enough to get characters who return in the series to have the same voice actor over the course of the series (when appropriate...)

That room is one of the ones that really sells how different this particular Game is, compared to the two that Akane masterminded. To put it simply, the other Nonary games were dangerous and unforgiving, but most of the deaths were caused by the players. There was always a way to get out in time, even if it did require psychic powers. ZTD's Game, however is actively cruel. Not only does it demand that six people die to allow anyone to escape, and not only does it reject the option of using psychic powers to make a perfect run happen, but it has rooms set up that are inescapable death traps. One puzzle starts with Junpei already dead. Another has a "reward" that will only allow one person to survive. Another requires blind fucking luck. Still another seems to have no exit at all.
And no matter what happens, there is no way out without deaths if the group enters at all. Which, again, is decided by blind luck/the whims of a player.
It really sells how different and cruel Delta-as-Zero is, without needing to spell it out. And I like that contrast.
After the voting section I’ve been checking out the melty acid shower option that follows nobody getting 2 votes.
Blue team explicitly talked about Phi and Sigma both remembering different versions of the vote, and the blue team vote is the only one I’ve actually played through both options for.
Is that the game reacting to how I’ve played or would the blue shower scene always play out that way and I’m just coincidentally doing things in the ‘right’ order? Morphogenic field is real lols etc?

This thread popping back up made me check to see if there was a cheap way for me to get my wife into these games, since my dog ate my DS cart for 999. Lo, the Nonary Games are on sale for $15 on PSN right now. I snagged it and we are playing them together now. Have been all day.

First ending she got:
Coffin, just like my first time through
It's a pretty intuitive path to take. Default first room, checking in on several characters you missed out on in the first room, following up on an obvious plotline, and then there you are.

Yeah
A lot of bad ends depend on you being a huge dick which is not how most people play games, I don’t think

Having watched full LPs of both mainline games, some of UDG and most of Danganronpa 3
I think I may have been tricked into liking exploitative trash
There's some clever moments and great characters but I'm starting to feel way more uneasy about the whole thing
Also Ace Attorney never gives me the haunting feeling I'm supposed to be getting off on the torture, brainwashing and murder of teenagers.
So there's that.
yeah but... how does the game want you to feel about Mia in Pearl's body?

I hope that turns out to be more an Ace Attorney in DS than an Ace Attorney on mobile
Though it does use event flagging in a way that the other games don't. Hmm.
I thought for a bit, stumped. Then it hit me. "Is there a big freezer there?" "Yes." "Oh. I remember now... Have fun with that."
Drove to work, sent her a message "So... finish the pantry yet?"*
Her response:
*Outside of the context of this game that sentence is very different.

I am very confused
Do you mean Zero Time Dilemma (ZTD) or Virtue's Last Reward (VLR)
Based on context I'm leaning towards the former
(Full ZTD spoilers, upnto the final ending.)
And no matter what happens, there is no way out without deaths if the group enters at all. Which, again, is decided by blind luck/the whims of a player.

D'oh! Yeah, ZTD. It's been so long...

What in the everlasting fuck
Now I can't just not play ZTD, right?
Neither does ZTD, sadly.
I have a question!

Yeah
Hieroglyphics...
Aaaaaargh!
I’m probably over thinking this.
I don't think so. I certainly don't remember needing to do that.
