A tattoo is still a thing I want.
But I'm rapidly moving out of the age bracket where I can get away with getting a dumb tattoo.

i met this kid who had all these linkin park tattoos on his calves and ankles

i think if you are sticking multiple tattoos all out of the way down there then you probably just dont want to admit that you realise they are not a good idea

certain tattoos work in that area but when you are just slapping some logos and album covers on your body you either wear them with pride or not at all

The second is that you often regret it later.

seriously ill bet you can get your own decent quality custom temporary tattoos in sets of a hundred for like twenty bucks

or spend a couple dollars extra on better quality markers with good colour on skin

and spend like 3 minutes every few weeks fixing it up
if you dont like it after a while just stop doing it
otherwise you can easily wait like a year while you get used to the idea of having it there all the time
maybe even think about design or placement alterations to get it just right

but no no
youre not that dedicated to a tattoo

I try not to judge other's reasons for getting tattoos, because there aren't really "objectively good" and "objectively bad" reasons -- talking realistically, the divide is "reasons that would be powerful enough for me to get the same tattoo" and "reasons that wouldn't suffice," and it makes a whole lot of sense that the confluence of events in someone else's life powerful enough to convince them to get a tattoo wouldn't have the same effect on me.

that said, whenever I see a tattoo based on contemporary pop culture I cringe; not because it's a bad tattoo, but because I inevitably think about getting a similar tattoo whenever I see any tattoo, and my tastes in pop culture are so ephemeral that I would regret anything I got in the course of six months

I worry that I'm not stoic enough for a tattoo, though. The folks I know that sport ink best say that even if they end up disliking the specific design, they'll respect the tattoo as a sign of a period in their life, and I'd like to have my own inclinations tend that way but I cannot.

Getting the coloring done in probably November.

This is the line work of my tattoo in progress. Since this picture, the tiger has gotten stripes and two of the gears have been colored in. I go in Tuesday for more black/gray coloring work and then I'll have one more coloring session after that to do all the green gears and to color in the tiger which is gonna be purple. The Flash tattoo that gear is around is getting covered up, not because I don't like Flash anymore, but because the guy who did it, did kind of a shitty job on it.
