Well I'm not up for making an ass of myself and honestly at this point I've waited three days running as solo as you can get in EVE waiting for acceptance and watching the upper echelon AFK. Honestly at this point IDC if I work for IT as long as I work for someone doing something. This newbie corp high-sec bullshit is a waste of my time and resources. As is paying CCP 11% on everything because I have to be in an NPC corp. I've asked my roomie for a sponsorship, got chewed out by Court, and still happen to be spinning my wheels in empire space. When does EVE Online get past the intro cutscene?
in Merchi, all that does is make sure you're not allowed in the corp. Congrats.
A friend of mine played this game back when I was in high school. I never really had a chance to get into it though. Is it any different from the other MMOs?

The biggest difference is that it is incredibly difficult to enjoy for a new player unless all the planets align correctly

you can be in a tackler (for completely free) and able to space joover within 3 days(also probably for free)

Is true. And if you have good Drone skills early on (by going Gallente), you can also get to borrow from a Carrier some fighters that are infinitely more expensive and dangerous than the ship you will be flying around enemy ships with. (?)
I haven't played since e-pr0s but the point is that with a fair bit of goon wiki browsing you can do cool things pretty soon.
a) there is probably nothing more boring then salvaging. It is like mining but with even less fanfare
b) tackling just means you get to die a lot and respawn at stations.
c) Actually getting into goonfleet where newbies are welcomed with open arms is part of the "planets aligning correctly" since far from everyone gets to play with them
Most people seem to end up in Empire and lowsec where they meander about aimlessly
I don't think I'd be playing EVE at all without the Goons, even though I'm playing for free now

it's a good thing we have mrchi to get into then huh
First, the government passes a law that any currency which can be used to purchase things with a Real Market value can be taxed, say, at 50% of their value (because old people won't give a shit about how much we are taxed, and there aren't enough of us to change public opinion). This means that for each increment of ISK which could be used to buy a PLEX would require you to pay a $15 tax. Think that's over the top? Compare it to the taxes on other vices, like smoking. What's the tax on cigarettes these days? 300% of the retail value?
Next, since ISK now has real world value, any actions taken in-game which deprive a player of said ISK can be litigated against. That player which blew up 74 PLEX's? Now he's being sued for $2000. Even if he lost the case, he'd still be out the legal fees (which he wouldn't get back, because there's no way it would be ruled as frivolous).
Just wait. It'll happen.

Blowing up real world monies is retarded. It's this type of toeing the line that will lead to us all paying taxes on gaining gold/isk/credits.
what
74 plex were lost when the ship went 'splodey.
no I know that
that's why it's funny
the what was directed at the tax comment because what
Apparently Senators will be pointing to that killmail as an argument to tax internet spaceship money.
Or something.
Meh, you'd just have to demonstrate a definitive link between in game money and real world money, which isn't all that hard to do. Or if people could somehow use it as a tax shelter.

I personally am going to find it hilarious when it suddenly becomes in vogue to try to serve subpoenas from small claims courts on anonymous jerks who blow up your isk in the internet spaceship game.

chair to Creation and then suplex the Void.

They wouldn't try to serve anonymous players; they'd just serve the subpoena to CCP for the offending player's information.

And it would still be ridiculously funny when CCP wins every time.

Anyone else getting a BSOD from trying to install the new patch?
**EDIT** I'm pretty sure it has something to do with steam not installing in the regular directory. The patch tries to find the game, goes cross-eyed and makes my rig shit itself. It's managed to get to the point where it gives me the option to browse for the folder before it remembers that it's trying to fuck me and makes my rig shit itself again.
I'm going to stop trying for now as 3x BSOD can't be good.
Hey Guys, I'm not really playing right now, (just training skills... logging in once in a while); but my buddy at work wants in to Merch. He apperently applied and then was asked for a reference? His name is Nasbrit and I endorse his acceptance into the corp. He's a good guy, very chill, just looking for a corp that is more active then his current.
So real world taxes on space money, people blowing up 1000 us dollars, a venue that spans borders and languages, servers in england. How could someone possibly enforce a tax on an intangible item in a country without the same legislation?
Furthermore, I don't know about you guys, but I play video games to have fun in situations that I can't enjoy in real life because of the real life consequences. If I got cuffed and hauled off every time I shot someone in the face in GTA or Saints Row, or getting taxed IRL for every major financial victory I make in a game online like wow or eve, I'll get a new hobby.

Steam has ... issues ... with EVE, I would suggest downloading and installing the client from eveonline.com the account is the same whether you are running via steam or the "real" eve client.
That killmail has to be faked, dosen't it say right within the item description of a PLEX that it's not possible to take one out of a station or load it into the cargo bay of a ship, and they are only tradeable via contract?

I have an agenda
Correct, with a massive range bonus
Yeah, they're also pretty decent soloers/small gang gankers now.
Gay spacejew agenda
1. Get money
2. Get paid
3. Be FABULOUS
disregard women
So just like the rest of EVE, then?

If anything it was a hinderance towards increasing the size of one's epeen.
