Might I be able to ask what skills come in the 'noobie starter pack' so that I know what I shouldn't be a dumb ass and buy myself?

    Unless that's restricted information D:

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter.

Only change I'd make to this is I might move the skills for a microwarpdrive ahead of a few of the learning skills, since it shaves about 12 hours off the time before you can fly our standard fleet rifter.

I christened the corp with my arrival by dieing gloriously in 0.0 space last night. I was in the surviellance chan and saw activity so I went there (more as an exercise to see if I could) in my starter ship and swiftly died.

I'm currently training gallente frigate 3, which, as I see is stupid since no one uses those (oh well, it's faster than training minmatar 3 which is queued up though). So since I don't have my newbie ship and everything requires lvl3 minimum i will not be flying until tonight.

So far it's fun, but the whole jump gate thing has me confused as fuck since I have no idea where they go.

Don't jump gates need a Cyno field at the other end? Or am I thinking about something different?

Ahah, in that case I've got a good few of those already, though many would still be useful. Almost ready to hop into a Drake actually, just maybe a day or so of training left.

Cynos are required for cap ships to jump to, or for titan bridges (aka Gooncannon). Regular jump bridges are just a bridge on each side, tied together.

Also, training to Dominix (Gallente battleship) is pretty fast, because you don't necessarily have to train any kind of guns for it. I haven't done that as I'm happy with battlecruisers for now, but several bitter vets in the corp have assured me that the domi is an awesome solo ship for any purpose. And the Gallente heavy assault cruiser, Ishtar, seems to be a really popular PvE ship currently.

This is truth. I have Gallente Battleship 4 and Gallente Cruiser 5 and I can't fit small hybrids. I have a small lazor on my Ishtar to aggress things because it doesn't use ammo.

It takes a bit to find a skill in EVE that's truly wasted training time (though when you start out I'll grant ordering of skills can matter a bit). Racial frigates 4 is needed for cruisers, and I hear people can do fairly mean things in a Vexor.

Pretty sure they're called jump GATES, not bridges. Bridges make me think Titans.

No, there are things called "jump bridges" that are setup by players in their own space, at POS's. They work just like jump gates for the most part, but they are setup between two player controlled POS's, and let players setup routes inside their own space to get around without using gates.

"Titan bridges" are what most people call the Titan jump bridge capability. That effectively turns the titan in to a giant jump bridge that ends at a cyno field, the same field caps and super caps jump to.

Cynos are required for cap ships to jump to, or for titan bridges (aka Gooncannon). Regular jump bridges are just a bridge on each side, tied together.

Oh, right, those things. I need to get income so I can resub, I'm forgetting everything.

You can train for the Vexor or Myrmadon very quickly. I would recommend doing so, as the Myrm will cover your noob money making endeavors. Then you can figure it out from there (there is a lot more do this advice, but I haven't had enough coffee).

Jump Gates go to the system that is indicated in their name. It can still be very confusing as the naming of 0.0 systems is all kinds of fucked up. It just takes time to memorize what system goes where, in the mean time, you can use a map to help you figure out where you are going. MRCHI has some excellent maps available, I think on both the corp forum and goon forums.

I'm looking at a Tengu, there is no way in hell it has DOUBLE the stationary tank of a Golem at Marauders 4. Even with the same large X-Type booster as my Golem, you're looking at maybe 900 DPS of tank. My Golem has 1200+ depending on the hardeners and what's shooting at me.

The Tengu also does less DPS, and that's rigging for damage, using the + HAM damage module and using T2 rage missiles.

Well, first of all, we're probably talking about 2 different things here.

    1) I'm talking uniform damage distribution not specific resists
    2) I'm not assuming the best mods possible, I fit both with about equal pricing (Gist-B Large boosters).

The golem came to about 800dps tank and the tengu to 1440 with command ship bonuses.

The Tengu damage is about 600 and the golem is about 550 but the golem will drop off on cruiser sized targets where as the tengu does not.

Given all level 5 skills, unlimited expense and factoring in the specific resists which I didn't think about, ya you're probably right. The golem is likely better. Still though, if you can afford it I'd keep a tengu on hand for missions that are cruiser heavy.

I'm not seeing how you're getting 600 DPS out of it. With all level 5 skills, what I assume is the correct sub-systems, T2 hams, T2 missiles and rigging for damage, I got ~525. Can you post a fit?

I am actually curious, not trying to be a dick. I've been trying to find an excuse to fly a T3 ship for a while now.

Gnome, just buy it man. I got a Legion, and although it's been a while since I've been able to play, it's a great ship. People will shit on the idea of flying a T3 no matter what. But those haters are always gonna hate regardless.

T3 makes up for any issues with increased agility over a BS hull. They are fun as hell to fly, and those haters (who are always gonna hate) will just be envious of your brass balls flying a ship that's worth twice as much as theirs.

It's fun. If you have the isk, it's just a reason to show off your billion+ isk wang.

Gather around children, it's time for another 0.0 political story.

Hydra Reloaded recently took 2nd place in the alliance tournament. Along with a pile of ISK they also received a BPC for 50 runs of an entirely unique ship, the Utu. After the tournament Hydra went on a massive recruiting spree, they seemed to let almost any corp in. Just have a look at the number of corps who joined after June 19th http://evemaps.dotlan.net/alliance/HYDRA_RELOADED/corporations. I hear that hydra was offering their member corps a deal shortly after this time. Give the alliance X billion isk and they will pay you back as soon as they sell some Utu's. I have no idea if they made good on this but due to the number of corps they accepted it was likely a scam.

That in and of itself is a bit interesting but here is where the story get's weird. You might have noticed that every corp left Hydra Reloaded about a week ago.

It turns out that some total nut job Xenuria got scammed by someone in hydra (possibly as part of the Utu scam but not really sure) and the leadership told them to fuck off when they complained about it. The nut job then promised vengeance unless hydra or a 3rd party gave them 1.7 billion isk and made this crazy post in Crime and Punishment. Obviously everyone laughed at them because they are clearly an insane individual and in no position to make good on their threat.

Then all of a sudden the description of hydra is changed to something like "I AM XENURIA, I AM NOW IN CONTROL OF THIS ALLIANCE" and every corp was kicked.

Xenuria has recently promised to do the same to IT Alliance and is once again asking for money. I do believe that they have no hope in hell of pulling it off again. Hydra clearly had shitty leadership and made poor decisions in who they let into the executor corp because this person is obviously nuts. Every quote and every post I've seen from Xenuria reeks of insanity.

Unfortunately the IT thread was moved to CAOD where Xenuria is banned from posting so we likely wont see anything else from this, unless of course they manage to pull it off but I doubt Sir Molle is dumb enough to let it happen.
