seems like the kind of fight where they expect you to take your lumps in the process of fighting him. Unfortunately at the level I am on that basically means I get OHKO'd everytime he hits me.
I just beat my first boss, playing as Terra, and it made me wish I would have chosen beginner instead of normal. Part of it may be due to the fact the phat PSP becomes uncomfortable after awhile, and PSP controls in general. I ended up using all my potions, although some of those were by accident because the game switches to the item/skill in your command list when you use the previous one.

Yeah, I tried a couple times until I used the command board to get cure. Then I dashed around avoid attacks while it recharged
I was tearing what's left of my hair out over Vanitas II - what a bastard. I ended up Ragnarok-spamming him into the ground, which felt kinda hollow since I wanted to Bladecharge the crap out of him. Vanitas III, however, wasn't nearly as difficult since I had Mickey to take some of the heat and I DBZ'ed him to death with Ghost Drive.
After beating him I was expecting some sort of closure, instead I got credits and a clear file. For some reason I thought I was done; I was wrong. Two more stories to go.
Stupid random drops. I can't seem to get any keyblade commands ever, but I have like a million and a half spell commands. With Terra, this is problematic. And munny certainly doesn't allow for much experimentation... I might have to go to the Mirage Arena to get some money.
In other news, just beat
Zack. Can that teleporting attack be actually dodged? I mostly tried to make him miss the first and the last attacks, which is doable, and lets me survive - then Curaga and back to town.
In any case, only took me a couple attempts, really. I had more trouble with the threadwheel at the beginning of Terra's story.
Final boss wasn't... cheap, per se, but he sometimes just refused to acknolwedge that I had hit him. Was annoying.
Yeah, I realized at a certain point that it was actually a far better idea to let him hurt himself than ever doing much myself. Just block everything he does and he'll die relatively fast due to reflected things and your counter attack.
Playing as Aqua (on Proud), who is basically the shit. Firewheel, man. FIREWHEEL.
Firewheel is glorious easy mode forever. Bladecharge with no effort whatsoever.
Also, I'd like to say this:
Vanitas in Neverland is a total bitch, but I'm enjoying the fight. Over and over and over again. I think I just need slightly more max hp, because he can occasionally pull off an OHKO on me. I went back to grinding the Mirage Arena for commands/skills.
Trying to decide where to go from here. I know TVA is the "standard" but I'm sort of itching to play as Aqua. Also, trying to decide if I want to up the difficulty. I tended to grind a lot as Terra to max out commands and experiment, so I had very little trouble the whole game, including final bosses. The only kind of bastard boss for me was
Eraqus. Died to him about 8-10x, just being too stubborn about wanting to block counter him when I really needed to back off and use some occasional healing.
I really wish you could change difficulty mid-game. I'd like to try a harder mode, but if it starts sucking the fun out of it, switch it down. Having to start over several hours in would kinda be a pain.
Have we talked about how awesome Nimoy was in this game yet?
I'm like 5 hours into Vens story and is it just me or what the fuck I don't understand one fucking thing going on in this story line. I've beaten every other kingdom hearts game and this one is just like here is a million new things that are totally unrelated and we wont tell you!
Would starting over with terra make more sense or am I really not getting it?
Has anyone noticed what serious downers the KH games are? KHII is the only one with a legitimately happy ending, everything else is just soul crushingly depressing.
I knew right away that TVA wouldn't get a happy ending out of it, but after seeing Terra's fate, it's pretty much a question over who is going to get the LEAST sad ending.
I really hope there's a final scenario once you beat all three character stories.
Whoever had the bright idea to put a whole mess of annoying as hell enemies who can easily stunlock and destroy Aqua a few screens into the first world of her story mode needs to be taken out back and punched in the face. Repeatedly.
Lotsa love,
Steve
You know what I'm talking about - the rabbity looking things in the area after you leave the palace in Cinderella's world, with a slew of big and little guys that spawn at the most inopportune times? Took me like a half hour to clear just that screen, after getting pounded from offscreen and at all angles just when I was trying to escape or regroup. (This is on Proud, mind you, but it's not like I can't handle the difficulty.) Liberal use of Thunder, Bind and Slow seems like the only way someone can take everything down, and that's only if the game doesn't decide to screw you over by having more bad guys appear just because you stepped in the wrong place.
That said, I love Aqua, and her magic focused style adds a great new way to play the game. I just wish she can take more than three solid hits. All right, venting over.
The first thing to do once you begin the game and leave the Land of Departure is to play the Command Board. For several hours.
If I wanted to play Mario Party, then I'd play Mario Party, not Kindgom Hearts. :P
I lost my first game and am still pretty bitter about it.
Yeah, I'll probably spend a little time doing that as soon as I start up again, if only to try and boost some of Aqua's skills, but apart from that little incident last night my command decks are fine as is. Thunder/Bind/Slow is one of my faves, if only for the massive loot pinatas that are bunches of enemies exploding in unison. I only wish there was a way to switch decks mid-combat so you don't get inadvertently stuck with one ill-suited for a given situation, especially in the early going when you don't have that many slots per deck to use for items like potions and ethers.
That said, I love Aqua, and her magic focused style adds a great new way to play the game. I just wish she can take more than three solid hits. All right, venting over.
Don't worry, it gets better. Aqua ends up being seriously freaking broken. But yes, she starts out being really, really weak, and dying to everything - the stupid boxer rabbits straight in the beginning don't help, either. Just clench your teeth and troop through it.

So it does. Cleared the Dwarf Woodlands after picking up Magnet in the Command Board, Cure at the shop, and Blizzara through merging and everything is going much smoother. After that I went back to Ven's game for a bit, and I can't believe how much sturdier even he is compared to Aqua. I'm guessing Terra's going to have tons of HP after just a couple of level ups?
Aqua is pretty much boned in the beginning, yeah. I died three or four times in the Courtyard. She's got the traditional spellcaster curve going on, though; by the end, you can kill everything in sight with a single spell.

Have to figure out a way to beat him...

I have literally one hitted several bosses with the ragnarok shotlock with no ethers
you'll do fine

The rabbits still scare me, though.

^^ Shotlock is your friend. You're always invincible during the 'Firing' part.

I still want to know what happens if you play one character's story on Normal, another's at Proud, and the last one on Critical.

You needed to finish every world completely. Like, do all the stories on each world.

..What's up with these last two posts? I saw the exact same sort of post/response in the Minecraft thread.
I'm replaying KH II in preparation of BbS, as I'm somehow sure my local store doesn't have it yet (these guys are always late).
So, did they really take gummi ships out? I love that shit
Yes. It just requires really good timing.

dont get rid of your saves, thats how the game knows when to show it to you!
And once I finish, do I save their complete file over the previous one (Terra) or separately?
Blog||Tumblr|Steam|Twitter|FFXIV|Twitch|YouTube|Podcast|PSN|XBL|DarkZero
AND NO, NEVER SAVE OVER YOUR OLD CHARACTER SAVES EVER
IT IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU KEEP ALL THREE SAVE FILES SEPARATE AND INTACT

Don't you technically only need your cleared file saves?
