DLC: AC: Brotherhood, Comet Crash, DJ Hero 2, Eyepet, Fist of the North Star, Front Misson, Hustle Kings, Vanquish, Super Street Fighter 4, Marvel Super Hero Squad, Worms 2, Space Invaders: Infinity Gene, Pain, LBP, GH & RB.
That's a lot of DLC, but none of it looks particularly interesting.
Once again, thanks to Diarmuid for the PAL dealings. Pretty surprised that the PAL update is so similar to the NA one.

You know even if they did they'd still find a way to cock it up.

Why?
Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure were both excellent conversions, other than the "herp derp SA doesn't have widescreen" angle. The only downside to Crazy Taxi is the omission of the original soundtrack, which is alleviated and then some because it supports custom soundtracks on both platforms.

Did you know the Gundemonium Trilogy was on PC?
And localized?
Neither did I, but seeing as how Kurt from HG101 was kind enough to supply me with a copy, we'll see how it measures up to the PSN version(s). Might test it out on the stream in a few.
Yes, this is an officially packaged release, with instructions and artwork.

Gundeadligne is, as my initial impressions suggested, the best of the three. Fun bullet patterns, solid gameplay. The only complaint I have is the music, and some ridiculous enemy designs(not in a good way, I mean like ridiculous fetish material).
Press release is forthcoming, but I wanted to get an official thread up to let you know that Arc II and Arc Arena will be released on PSN next week. We had them put up as $5.99 for just Arc II, or $8.99 for Arc II + Arc Arena bundle, so you have a choice if monster tournaments aren't your thing.
Arc II features well over 50 hours of gameplay if you do all the quests and sidequests. If you import your save from Arc I with the 50 level dungeon completed and the special summon you get for doing that, there's a significant and compelling part of Arc II that opens up that is otherwise completely inaccessible.
Arc Arena lets you take the monsters you've captured in Arc II and set them up in tournament-style fights for prizes.
Win a Free Download Code for Arc II and Arc Arena
This is a GREAT game, definitely one of the best on the Playstation. There are a number here who have played it, and a bunch who have not. I have download codes to give away, and I thought it would be cool to hear about your favorite moments from the game you're looking forward to re-visiting (if you've played it when it was originally released) or what interests you most about it (if you haven't played it yet). Just post your thoughts and memories here, and EVERY DAY between now and the 23rd, I'll pick the one I find most compelling and send the winner a code for a free download of Arc II AND Arc Arena. If they're really good, I might give away some vintage WD swag, too.
Is this Arc Arena thing something that came with Arc the Lad 2 back in the day? Or was it a separate thing?
Also, is it any good?
It was a seperate disk that came with the Arc Collection. I don't remember it being particularly exciting - it's just a place where you can use your captured monsters to fight in special fights to win prizes. In most games, it would just be included in the main game, but I guess it came out in Japan after the game came out as an old fashioned form of DLC.
Awesome
I am totally going to make a four-song Crazy Taxi playlist and play it as intended
I mentioned this in the Arc/Alundra thread today. The first two sold well enough to continue doing ones that are already localized or require no localization, but the sales definitely aren't close to robust enough to encourage us to go back and pick up unlocalized gems (I have a list!) from the original Playstation and do them up. I'm not saying we won't GET to that level of sales, just that we're not there yet. So we're pushing promotion in other ways to try to get the word out and drum up support so we can do this "next step".
You'll buy DJ Hero 2 at full price to help out the developers but you won't do the same with far cheaper PS1 games from an indy developer? For shame sir, for shame.
Besides, Vic doesn't have the rights to the Lunar games.
See, the DJ Hero developers made a game I actually liked
If he's just gonna put out stuff like Alundra or Arc the Lad, and he can't put out Lunar (the only one I care about), I will keep my six dollars thanks

Uh, but Alundra and Arc(II, anyway) are fantastic games.
The PS3 plays PS1 games, just buy the disc version.
And as much as I'd love new unlocalized gems to hit the PSN, let's be realistic. Atlus USA have said it's not profitable enough to be worth the effort.
Are the Prince Of Persia HD rereleases coming to disc in the States or is it going to be download only?
Download only. If you want the disc, just import it. The Prince of Persia thread had a good deal posted by LewieP.
Also, Atlus USA have only released a whooping one PS3 title on the PSN, the rest of them are PSP games (which we all know sells SO much software) so I don't really think they're fit to say whether it's profitable enough.
I wouldn't call Alundra a great game, though. It's like, half a great game.
The other half is the 'puzzles' which like to present themselves as trial and error problems that you can eventually figure out. You -can- of course, but when you figure them out, that still doesn't make them much easier since they're also 'skill-based' using the word skill very loosely. I'm looking at you "Push a button between four holes to drop three spike balls and one barrel in no discernible order" puzzles. Especially annoying is all the "Carry these fire urns and throw them at bramble to clear it" puzzles when, like, right in the manual, it tells you you get a fire wand or something eventually.
When the game is good, it's really good, but when it's not, it's frustrating at best.
Moving on from a very uncomfortable three-day funk, I present to you The Drop.

PlayStation minis
Boom Beats — Boom Beats is a very addictive rhythm game which lets you enter compelling worlds full of club tunes: drum and bass, jungle, dub step, rave and house. All you need to do is tap the rhythm and earn the score. Use multipliers, unlocks, special powers and more. Headphones are recommended.
Jelly Car 2 – Jelly Car 2 has players driving a squishy car through a squishy world to get to the exit. The game includes 30 levels, 3 car models and more power.
So if you're not looking into Gran Turismo 5, or, I guess even if you are, there's other stuff you might pick up this week! Arc the Lad II probably being at the forefront of it all, but maybe more people care about Pac-Man Championship Edition DX. Typing that, I have no idea what a Championship Edition is, nor do I understand the fascination with "DX" unless it means Director's Cut which still makes little sense considering it's PAC-MAN. Also, Magic: The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers comes out.
How many times is Namco going to repackage and sell the same game?
well pac-man CE was the best 360 exclusive i ever played, and DX is supposed to make it look entirely lame by comparison so... i dont know what youre even talking about here. im infinitely excited about DX, personally.
I'm kinda on the fence about picking up Persona 3 Portable while it's still on sale. I mean, it looks pretty cool, but the only other SMT game I've played is Digital Devil Saga, and I just couldn't get into the battle system. Is it pretty much the same in P3P?
It's pretty similar, yeah -- the spells and abilities are largely the ones common to all SMT games, and you have the basic mechanic of "hit enemy weakness for extra turn". Characters and enemies go as their time comes up, rather than the Igo-Yougo system of DDS and Nocturne, so the extra turn is just taken by the currently active character, and there's no turn penalty for having an attack voided. Like in Nocturne, it's game over when the main character dies; unlike the PS2 versions of Persona 3, P3P allows you to control the other party members directly if you want, which makes it easier to keep the main character from dying.
What didn't you like about the battle system? I've always thought the SMT games had some of the best, most challenging battle mechanics of any JRPG.
Have you tried the feature that lets you use your own music in game yet? I was wondering about that.
Not yet. Going to try it out with some Pan Sonic this weekend.
I was a little disappointed to discover that it seems like there is essentially only one music stage; there are subtle variations from track to track, but you can tell the basic stage flow is the same. It runs for the length of the track you select, and a boss appears at the end of the track, which restarts while you fight it. The game isn't music-aware in the way something like Rez is.
Definitely pick this game up if you like either shmups or abstract electronic music, though. It's pretty fun, and full of subtle references to other shmups.

Anyway, here's the PAL update: http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2010/11/17/heads-up-game-store-update-17th-november-2010/
PS3: Sands of Time, Red Faction: Guerrilla, Crazy Taxi
PSP: Cladun, Disgaea Infinite, Peggle
PSOne: Critical Depth, Gunship, Sports Superbike 2
Minis: Who’s that Flying?!
DLC: AC: Brotherhood, Comet Crash, DJ Hero 2, Eyepet, Fist of the North Star, Front Misson, Hustle Kings, Vanquish, Super Street Fighter 4, Marvel Super Hero Squad, Worms 2, Space Invaders: Infinity Gene, Pain, LBP, GH & RB.
That's a lot of DLC, but none of it looks particularly interesting.

Yes, $20 is kind of a lot of money for me right now.
Also, is it any good?
2's the best of the bunch.

I'll probably pass on it.

Just buy every game from every developer ever on the offhand chance that they will all one day make a game you really love
So, no.

I want to play Lunar, but I don't want to pay $rape
Should've kept it, then. :P Or get the Sega CD version, which is, for whatever reason, cheaper.
Just Lunar 2
