Man, I'm jonesing for some CoV, but every time I fire it up it lags all over the place and I get constant disco errors. Stupid leeched wireless from my neighbors.
i spent two hours in siren's call, basically the first real PVP i've done in the two years i've had this game.
oh my god pvp is so much fun
aerial combat is so easy and looks so friggin' cool
in particular when you Air Superiority the guy over top of your base so he gets droned
i've got a SS/Inv brute, and this SS/Inv tanker challenged me to one on one, no team-mates.
i won, but only barely. We had almost identical power choices. We both used AS at the same time and when we hit the ground, we both used knockout blow.

I never have to take another philosophy class again! Why on Earth did I major in that?
For the next week, I'll be on a lot.
Philosophy? What the hell?
Who the heck is going to pay you to philosophy 8 hours a day?
Also if anyone is looking for someone to help them in game send one of the officers a tell ingame or bother us on Xfire.
Dude, it's college, not a trade school.
Interesting note: by major, philosophy students have the highest scores on both the LSAT and the GMAT, and the highest acceptance rate to liberal arts graduate programs as well as law school. It's a great degree; it teaches you how to think critically, how to write and how to argue.
Seriously, as a major, philosophy is actually very rigorous. It's also demoralizing. I shudder every time I hear someone say "use logic" or "be rational" now. They don't even fucking know what it means.
As for career prospects, well... I start law school in the fall.
My apologies to the people who where on late last night and decided to roll new lowbies. My network took a shit right after I said "I want to be a tanker" and I couldn't get it back for the life of me.
I hope you didn't wait too long before deciding I wasn't showing.
I kept wondering where the tank was, I felt like a dangerously exposed Blaster.
Team Impromptu Lowbies was rocking and rolling, most all of us hit lvl 8 and got jetpacks. Wooo!

Oh shit, boys, I do believe we'll need to make a G&T recruitment thread.
We might not want a G&T thread right now since tonight is Team Night. Might be kinda weird to have a bunch of guys join up and wonder why we told them Virtue when we're all on Victory.

Edited to remove buddy code. If someone want's it PM me an email address and I'll get it to you.
pretty cool. Though if the GvE goes for 19.99 again; might as well get that for folks after giving them a buddy key. Free month from GvE makes it effectively 5.00, plus there's no mention in the e-mail that the special buddy code gives you the free month afterward, so if you got the GvE with the other buddy code you also get a free month, making it -9.99 overall.

Seriously, that sounds like it was a lot of fun.
There was one time I was in an Arena All Brute Ironman tourney and my SS/EA went against a SS/Stone and our opening attack chain was exactly the same. KO Blow, Haymaker, Jab, Foot Stomp. The crowd watching us liked it quite a bit.
Hmmm the more and more I look at this game the more interesting and fun it looks.
I come from playing WoW since a month or so after release, but just couldn't handle dealing with some of the annoyances of the game, and community Another big reason I ended up leaving WoW by the wayside was because of the PvP in the game. I enjoyed it for a while, but in the end, after working through the game on numerous classes/factions - it had bored me.
So now I ask you CoH vets, how is the PvP in this game? I'm still unsure if I want to get into this game so this is specifically asking those who've come from WoW to CoH.
All PvP is completely voluntary, and takes place either in the arenas (not used often other than Gladiator, aka Pokemon, fights), or the 4 PvP zones. Each zone has particular goals for each side, with some very nice rewards such as nuclear missles or alien pet temp powers. For pure combat fun Siren's Call and Recluse's Victory do a decent job of throwing the two sides at each other.
All that said, CoX is a PvE game that had PvP added in after-the-fact. Don't come in expecting a whole lot of PvPing going on.
As for PvP it isn't as active as WoW but it can be damn fun. Since you can copy mains to test there are frequently server wide PvP tournaments and whatnots on the test server, just have to watch the message board for them. One dev in particular has turned his attention to PvP so there might be some benificial changes coming down the road.
So... I think CoX needs to start combining servers.
CoV sort of split the population in half without actually bringing (m)any new people into the game. Even the second biggest server is a bloody ghost town during the day.
The only problem I see would be with names, and I think I have a solution to that, too: make names non-unique, use the global handle to provide friends list functionality. Then keep the global flag; e.g. if you add a friend with Hero A via his global, he can't see you with Hero B unless you flag him in your friends list as such (thus, keeping the current functionality). Then add some more visibility options for the friends list, and we're all set.
I'd say if things don't improve after i10 they might want to consider combining servers, from what I've seen in other MMOs it is always a huge bitch and takes away from the regular updates.
What I'd really like to see is an option when you go into a PvP zone to join your servers PvP zone or a Global one. The global one would let your character get all o the rewards as normal and keep them on your server but let everyone from all servers PvP together. It would rock.

at/powers plz thx
because if you are a controller you can go fuck yourself, my good sir.
Dude, I don't play Controllers. I despise them and everything they stand for.
And, uh...
Scrapper, BS/Inv (Techno-Avenger)
Or alternatively
Blaster Fire/Fire (Herr Automaton)
Or
Blaster AR/Dev (Steel-Hunter)

Be warned ladies indeed.
And Corvus you are crazy. Second account? Crazy!

The cost of a new account has never been what's stopped me, it's paying $30 a month for CoX.

There just aren't enough people around.
The waiting period for issues has just gotten a lot longer the past year >.>
I think that, in some situations, genocide could be perfectly justified.
