Would be cool. I remember the rush I first KBed a guy into a tree in the CoV beta and leaves came falling out of it. I love watching my powers interact with the bullet casings that frequently get scattered throughout the game now. Nothing like sending an AE down an alley to see the trash fly up and around because of it.
So, yeah, pump that up to the next level with buildings falling would be great. It would have to be limited to an instanced single group zone, though, since the lag would get so bad for a lot of people.
just having rubble particles smash outwards when you knock down a guy or kb him into something
the other day, in SC, i hit a flying hero with a handclap in mid-air, and he went spiraling into the side of a building, and landed on a ledge
you don't need all kinds of damageable maps to make that cooler, just have a bunch of rubble shoot out, maybe a temporary damage crater texture
yeah; the buildings don't even have to blow up; but a large "chunk" coming out, even if it's totally superficial, would be cool.
The most "epic" battle I feel like I've had since playing CoX was last night I was doing the villain cape mission and the longbow that were chasing me flew up in their little rocket packs; so I loaded up my goldbricker pack and started melee fighting them in mid-air (I was on my elec/elec brute). Hits had a bit of weight, would knock them down a bit, etc. But it felt fun flying to meet them; punching them back, flying up to them recovering and hitting them again. It felt good. If the "physics" were like 10x normal and I could punch them into the ground or into the side of a building, even if it was a purely visual effect, would have made it all the more "epic" feeling. And those were just normal dudes. If that sort of cool was applied to more fights that'd be awesome.
the most epic fights i've had are zipping around Siren's Call recently and brawling with flying heroes
i even had a wonderfully villainous moment where i was stalking a hero through SC from the air, he's zipping around on super-speed and doesn't notice me
he starts fighting some Tsoo and i swoop in and start keeping him locked with knockdown attacks
and just when things look bleak for the little scrapper four heroes show up and i am like fuck fuck fuck fuck
i barely made it back to the base, god bless you dull pain it's like i have two health bars
so what's the story with dark astoria? It seems like a creepy cool zone; why doesn't anyone play there? Also; why is everything dead?
The Banished Pantheon tried some spell to kill Paragon City or something, it went wrong and all it did was semi-raise the dead from the Astoria cemetary. Everyone moved out after that.
As for playing there, like all game-launch hazard zones, it has no contacts or story arcs in it, so the only reason to go there is when you have a specific mission to go there.
Could be wrong but I think it was a ceremony to awaken that Adamanstor creature. Which happened to be buried underneath Moth Cementary in Astoria. Due to a mistake (or maybe a side effect I forget) everyone who was living in Astoria at the time got killed and turned into a ghost.
I've been playing mainly CoV the last bit, I was trying to play my Team Night guy to catch up this evening and forgot that unlike CoV, contacts are more than happy to give you missions in totally random ass zones regardless of their level, or what zone the contact is in. Annoying. I like the "contained" missions in CoV, it just makes things more streamlined.
I like CoV for the same exact reasons. But since I8 I've been playing CoH. Partially because I played nothing but villains for 2 issues straight. Partially because I've been intrested in my old and new heroes lately (especially my Peacebringer Squidlok), but mostly because I was getting tired of the overall lagginess of CoV compared to CoV. Don't get me wrong, if someone wanted to I would jump to CoV but right now I feel more compelled towards CoH.
also, maybe it's just me, but villain missions seem to give a hell of a lot more xp than hero missions.
Maybe it's because 75% of missions on villain side are arcs; 75% of missions (that I've done outside of faultline) on hero side are random trash missions.
In a way that's true, but also that's a problem. Because the fact is that pretty much all the contacts in CoV have nothing but story arcs. Some have only 1. Some have 2. And most of those story arcs are only 3-6 mishes long. Meaning in the high level game there are plenty of times where you have to resort to doing either Paper or PvP Zone mishes in order to get that last level or 2 you need for the next set of contacts to give you missions. And that includes doing all the hidden contacts. May not happen if you play exsclusively in big teams, but can happen if you mostly solo or a combo of solo and team. But all those trash mishes in CoH helps alleviate that problem.
Most of the complaints of this nature I hear hero-side is for the 35-40 game. But that may be allivated in I10 because a dev said that in that ish a new hero zone will be introed for a level range that people have been clamoring for more content in. So I'm thinking either 30-40 or 35-45. Course that could mean 40-50 or 45-50 too.
The most exciting battle I've had wasn't all that epic but it left a hell of an impression.
A group of us had just finished a mission (this is at launch, btw) and were running all over separate zones getting new ones and selling. I grab a mission and start flying towards a store to sell when I see a ninja start fly past my head. I pan the camera down to see some ninjas super jumping from rooftop to rooftop chasing after me, stopping to throw stars. I stop to try and fight a couple but it was part of a mission ambush so a ton more showed up. I fly off with them on my tail screaming something in group chat about a ninja ambush. Suddenly an Ancestor showed up from behind and punched me right out of the air. I plummeted but managed to turn on Flight again just before hitting the ground, flew back up into the air to avoid the ground Tsoo who were after me. Just as the Ancestor caught back up to me a fellow PAer showed up and encased it in stone...we both just sort of hovered there as the Ancestor fell to the ground then went down after him and fought the ambush. The two of us barely pulled it off but the whole thing felt like it was ripped right out of a comic.
PA has had a lot of really epic battles with AVs, we tend to jack up the difficulty. I recall some great rooftop fights in the Praetorian arc and the first Titan fight, all good stuff. Oh the HUGE comeback we had one time in the sewer after a group wipe was fun as all hell. Holding back an entire sewer worth of zombies by standing in the doorway with Repel on was awesome. Healer was around the corner keeping me alive and the ranged characters were shooting over my head. Soooo many good times in CoX that have never even been close to replicated in other MMOs I've played.
Yeah. Make sure if you buy that you use UPGRADE to add CoV to your CoH account. If you use ADD GAME you end up with separate accounts and two monthly fees.

Shouldn't the new "buddy codes" help cercumvent this problem?
I wouldn't waste a buddy code on someone who isn't willing to spend $5 to get CoV, screw that. I mean they sell the product key online for $20 and you get a month "free" so you are paying $5 for an absurd amount of content.
Once i9 goes live I'm going to make a big old G&T CoX thread with the intention of us giving out Buddy and Free Trial passes. A recruitment drive, if you will. I don't know how to go about picking who gets buddy passes, though. I wouldn't want to give one to somebody who only plays for a few days and then stops, that would suck hard.
When we turn our eyes to the future we see some pretty awesome stuff coming together. New costumes, new temp powers and new inventions. A villain group returns with a dramatic change that will shake the very foundation of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. An old friend returns as an enemy. Enemies will become friends. Issue 10 and beyond is really shaping up nicely!
No pretty sure it would be Hero-1. For one thing he was left stranded in the Rikti Dimension. Everyone assumes he died so no one ever bothered to rescue him Plus this is the cover that David Nakyama drew for the last issue of the Top Cow CoH Comic (issue 20.) Looks like a pissed off zombie-ish Hero-1 to me.
Hmm. Looks like I need to buy CoV again
I tried it out last year sometime.. Then forgot all about it.
Aaand instead of adding CoH to THAT account, I made a new one. Partially because I couldn't remember my account details for the life of me.
Oh well.
Nocren: Issue 18 just got released earlier this month. Thanks to the new bimonthly schedule of the comic we're prob just about 3 months away from issue 20s release (which should (hopefully) be around the time I10 hits test (if we're lucky). Coinencedence? I think not! )
btw that cover was put up on Deviant art by Nakayama about a month or 2 ago.
Issue 18 was decent enough writing but the artist and letterer made soooo many mistakes it was rather annoying. I mean, sure, it was Mis Liberty and Dominatrix getting switched around but don't people ever proof read/draw?
Random images because someone asked for pics from last nights team...which I have almost none of but I've got other random stuff that hasn't been put up.
Impromptu Lowbies Unite! Someone KBed that Skull up there and I found it amusing.
Voltsan, the mecha-samurai from Team Impromptu Lowbies.
Bat'Zul vs Inferno
Bat'Zul vs Inferno vs Scheme Nighters
Those particle effects are Deathsurge getting his ass handed to him by Scheme Nighters and a random group or two of people throughout the zone we roped into helping us get the giant monster badge.
Calystix in his new duds...I guess he rules the underwater world or something now. Whatever, curse you pollution!
And a blast from the past since people are talking about classic conversations. I lsot a bunch of my other saved ones when my HDD failed. =(
If anyone could provide one of those Buddy Codes that would be cool, gonna go pick up a Time Card next weekend and hopefully get into some CoV action, I like CoH more but I can't find it anywhere anymore.
I coulda swore that at one time the Freedom badge directly stated that Synapse took Statesman's cape and put it up on city hall as a joke to lighten the mood in the aftermath of the Rikti War and the loss of Hero 1 and his team. States then responded to the joke by saying that because Hero 1 was so know for his cape that all heroes should remove their capes in honor of him.
Or at least that was the story that Cryptic spun to justify why they had no capes at launch.
As for issue 17 and 18. They should be putting them up... eventually. But they seem to take their time. Something about making sure they have good looking pics. Blah blah blah. But beyond that I would say a comic shop or some site online that sells comics. Like mile high comics.
And I agree with accult. The guy who drew issue 17 and 18, Mark A. Robinson, sucks ass. Its like he's never been given the character model sheets or designs. It's almost like soome one gave him a verbal description of what they looked like and he just wings it from there. I swear in some panels in 18 that luminary looks like she's wearing gold tights instead of being a Gold Colored robot.
The art looks glaringly worse compared to the covers Nakayama drew for the 2 issues.
haha, rocket packs in a wind tunnel.
Months and months later when someone said they got a jet pack on test at the arena I thought who ever posted it was trying to get back at us for the original joke.

However, a CoH player won't be able to access the super base unless they have both CoH and CoV.

Hero 1 is the shit, that zombie Hero 1 looks retarded. I like the idea its just the drawing isn't so hot.
The image of Statesman as Superman and Hero 1 as Shazam just entered my head for some reason.
Why the hell are there only 16 issues for DL on the CoH page? Anyone got at least #17?
I still feel bad about that.

Haha, I remember that.

"Hey look, Bit, theres the team who spawned him."
God that was funny.
