Done and done. Speaking of Nightmare,
the other day I watched it and Corpse Bride back-to-back. Nightmare has better pacing, better overall art direction and way, way better music - but watching it on blu-ray (and a decade after I'd last seen it) really highlights the roughness of the animation, and the rather mediocre acting on the part of Jack and Sally (who was done by Catherine O'Hara - surprising).

Corpse Bride, on the other hand, has great acting from all the leads and looks absolutely fantastic (it was done with combined stop-motion animation, and CGI to smooth the frames), character expressiveness is much more impressive, but it's much more boring to look at in terms of art direction, and the songs are dull as dishwater.

It makes me want Nightmare, re-created with the same technology and maybe new actors.

*gasp* That's Chris Sarandon and Danny Elfman you are talking about! I am not amused, sir.

    Elfman's singing is great.

    Claymation freaks me out

I'm not sure what brought it about but I'm relatively sure The Nightmare Before Christmas was the first claymation film I saw.

    Christmas for you:
Digital camera, tripod, several large blocks of plascticene clay.

Now, I have never seen Elf

So there's pretty much no possible way this could be correct. That is like a pairing from Hell.

Will Ferrell may be one of the worst comedic actors ever and Zooey Deschanel (while cute) is super-boring because in every film she's in she always plays the quirky indie girl who makes the otherwise unfulfilling life of the protagonist "complete"

EDIT: Oh hey, according to Wikipedia there's a term for this: "Manic Pixie Dream Girl"

    Elf is the best.

Nightmare Before Christmas is also the best.

And then Christmas Vacation is also the best.

All of the claymation ones are creepy and scary and are only good for nostalgic value.
