It does look great. Not sure that killing some otriches is a very interesting quest for a fantasy RPG, but the gameplay/combat/animations/interface all look solid IMO.
It is, like, the first quest you get and you have to admit, killing a pack of evil, baby stealing ostriches is hilarious.

I've spent about 2 or more hours on this, got the horse and on the main island. There is a patch out (1.4) that fixes a large amount of things, but I can't install it. Keeps telling me there is no install even when I direct it to the original install location. Bah.

At least my horse has dreadlocks.
I'm pretty certain that there's only a version 1.4 patch for the first game, and that the latest patch for Two Worlds II is the "Gold Upgrade".

While the game looks pretty, I'm so burnt out on the "generic fantasy RPG" that unless there is a new, genre revolutionizing gameplay mechanic that I'm not seeing in these vids, I'm afraid even if I was to purchase/be gifted it I probably wouldn't spend too much time on it.
Call it a product of an over saturated market, but fantasy RPGs (and zombie games as well) are no longer insta-buys for me.
I purchased the digital english version through their store today. Overall it seems to have potential, but I wish there was a way to see a monster's power level compared to the main character. I will be mowing down goblins left and right, and then get 20 feet further into a camp and suddenly I do like a fraction of damage and get destroyed. There is lots of running away in this game.
Also, the controls for the horse on PC are absolute shit. I can't even ride the damn thing.
This game is so weird! And maybe not in a good way I really love the look of it, but the rest of the game is so wacky and inconsistent.
I agree about the horse controls. Having to tap the right mouse button to spur the horse doesn't feel right at all. I should probably plug in a pad.
I went back to my old save today and it took me five minutes to figure out what I had been doing when I last left the game. Which was mostly running around murdering baboons and ostriches in the desert, and a horse race I was supposed to participate in. I'm not very far in the game, but I liked the opening area more.

How about customizable spells that let you inflict tornados on innocent NPC's? Or rain anvils from the sky? Or turn yourself invisible? Or summon a Tripod Scorpion of Death? The magic system in this game is quite amazing. The videos for this are great, and there are a few wiki's that have a ton of information. I so want this.

After figuring out how to control the horse (press forward while spurring it, otherwise itll go all over when you try to turn) and how to use the spell creator, this game's fun quotient has increased tenfold.
I shoot fireballs which explode in a shower of anvils, boxes, etc. Then I issue forth tornados which murder things with aforementioned anvils, boxes, etc.

That is definitely where the fun is. And you can switch 'class' at any time. There are three clothing sets, and you can set up a melee, an archer and a mage set, or two different style mages, or two archer and a melee set. I don't know much about archery, but melee looks like standard fare, and the magic system is amazing. Still trying to figure out how to get ahold of this.
e: Visiting the web site, they're running some kind of Castle Defense game... you download it and play, and whoever has the highest score on the 10th wins some kind of prize (money or something) and there's a lottery type thing for everyone who submits a score. Downloading now.
e2: Probably the worst tower defence style game -ever-.
e3: Beat all 25 waves the second time I played it... 145,000 score. The top score is over 300,000... I have no idea how.

So I just bought the original Two Worlds after seeing it on sale for $4. How much of a mistake was this? Got completely hooked on Divinity 2 after buying it on the Steam sale, and I'm nurturing the vain hope that this will cover my RPG needs once I run out of divinity.

It's not too bad on PC, once it's fully patched. It's mainly the console version that made people psychotic.
I hadn't been paying attention, but over Christmas there was a new patch released for Two Worlds 2 in case anyone else missed it. It's called the Gold Upgrade patch and it adds in new content, DX11 features, and a lot of fixes.

Well, it's out today. I'm picking it up at lunch and praying to god it doesn't suck. I've liked the videos I've seen but I keep hearing it isn't a sandbox game anymore which makes me cry bitter tears of bitterness.
Also also! Here's the codes for ALL the pre-order items; they aren't downloaded at all, just unlocked in-game:
Dragon Armor - 4149-3083-9823-6545
Elexorien (Sword)- 3542-3274-8350-6064
Scroll (Labyrinth level) - 6972-5760-7685-8477
Hammer - 6231-1890-4345-5988
Axe - 1775-3623-3298-1928
Anathros(Sword) - 6770-8976-1634-9490
Lucienda (Sword) - 9122-5287-3591-0927
And THIS is apparently a necessary fix for a resolution bug in the 360 version:
1. Go to Settings.
2. Go to Graphics.
3. Go down to Use safe area in interface and push right or left to turn it on then hit A to accept changes.

Depends how fussy you are with graphics, the game as a whole is enjoyable (at least for me) for $4 you can't really go wrong.
I'm not picking up TW2 till I can grab it from the bargain bin, they've changed too much in TW2 from TW1 for me to justify paying full price. basically it's not open world anymore (untill you finish all story quests) locations such as dungeons and caves cannot be accessed without picking up the quest for that location and the largest island on the world map has been reserved for DLC :v:
Edit:couple of other things to add, no taint shoots and townsfolk are invincible...

The PC version got a patch recently that improved the graphics even further, too, by expanding the graphical settings and adding in DX10 features.
I've heard that comparison article is quite off, though. Hell, I've seen footage of the 360 version that look far better than those screenshots. Apparently they're all actually fairly close in quality.

You seem to know a lot about a game you refuse to buy for months.
Yeah, you could say that. I pre-ordered it last october and joined the forum http://board.zuxxez.com/
It was quite funny the amount of outraged new posters complaining when it released in the EU, but there were quite a few white lies told about this game from the dev's. example; the dev's claimed 100 SP hours. most people have been pulling in ranges from 30-50 hours.
Then there was another hot topic about the huge (can't wait to get there and explore) island in the middle of the map. The dev's put up a map on their website so you could get hyped about it, then when it released it turns out that area was for MP, Now the dev's are claiming it's for DLC.
Why there is a MP section on the SP map is beyond me...
It was pretty funny, then a dev posted a comment saying something about bullshit which enraged them further
Don't get me wrong, there's a decent RPG in there (somewhere)
but I was a big fan of TW1 despite it's glaring faults and was hoping for more of the same, not less.
The thing I miss most from the first game is piling all of my swords into a better sword. There's still some weapon upgrade stuff, but it's not as quick and crazy as it was in the first game.
