Thinking on going AP Cho instead of the usual build I have with my good Gentleman (GA, Aegis, Tabi, etc). Is it any good? I mean, Feast could do HUGE dmg, considering it's "true damage".
Maybe start with Rod of Ages?
AP Cho is so fucking awesome. You have great burst damage output, and as long as you have your feast stack up, you have tanky HP.
You will learn to hate Galio, though. You'll learn to hate him a lot.
EDIT:
I build Doran's ring, then boots, then go for Sheen, then Rylai's, then go up Zhonya's path. People here tell me I don't know shit about building, though, so take that with a grain of salt.
Ruby Crystal - Catalyst - Boots - RoA (or banshee's depending on the team) then make whatever.
I'm mid as Vlad against a VERY good Ezrael. (Who is still OP as all fuck, btw.) Things are going alright, I'm outfarming him but nobody is really killing the other. Until our underlevelled TF and Olaf feed him like 8 straight kills. We have a Galio that's doing okay, and a solo Kassadin that had no kills no assists and 1/3 the creep kills as the Nid he was up against.
Game goes on about 30 minutes. We take an inhib, they take an inhib, it all pretty much came down to near-aces and then a team push. All the while our TF and Olaf will over-extend or just wander in and die, feeding this Ezrael to something like 24/3/10 by the end of the game.
They focus the ever-loving shit out of me every chance they get, but by this late in the game I had my Zhonyas and enough CDR to pool twice in a fight, so we killed 4 and lost maybe 1, pushed mid inhib and had to back out. As they were counterpushing our TF was just mowing down top lane up to one Nexus tower left, though by this time they had taken mid inhibitor and BOTH of our own nexus turrets.
Game goes on another 20, inhibs respawn though we have map control up through most of their forest, despite their vastly superior warding habits. (Aside from our Olaf's constant wriggles at dragon I was the only one warding.) Another big teamfight goes down and we lose like 3 for 1, and they start their final push towards mid. Our TF and Kassadin are alive and that's about it, and they are midway in our base. I'm yelling at the TF to teleport to their Nexus all the while, and as they are beating down our Nexus he finally does.
So he's chipping away at their Nexus tower while for some reason instead of finishing ours they are chasing our ghosting Kassadin around. All the while our TF is taking down their Nexus. They finish off our Kassadin and our Nexus has about 30% life left when they get back to it. They beat on it for a second or two and as I'm clicking to check on top the game ends.
Only to scroll up and show a dancing TF solo in their base in front of their exploded Nexus.
Out of my maybe 700 games that was the closest and the sweetest. Mmm.
Ouch. 6 losses in a row with shiny new Cho'Gath. I'm glad I got the hang of him when he was free, cuz I'm doing pretty awesome with him - but dammit, he's cursed or something. Such terrible teammates.
Cho'Gath is clumsy and can't carry. Those are his issues.
I'm not saying I don't enjoy them at all (I can feel satisfaction in the deed while still finding it boring - and I don't find them all boring), but I personally prefer competitive games, win or lose. It's just more interesting to me.
And like I said, if I'm having fun why wouldn't I want it to last as long as possible?
because you might have other shit to do
or the other 9 people might
or the people losing might hate themselves
or 25 - ~40 minutes is a reasonable amount of time to play one game

AP Cho can try damn hard to carry, though. :P
One of my failed games I lost with a 9 and 2 score, and something like 11 assists.

Or I just enjoy long games going back and forth with excitation and rainbows of the double variety, doesn't mean that all of them are like these. I mean, some 40 minutes games only happens because people are silly geese and refuse to surrender no matter how lopsided the situation is.
Constrictor: Cho's problem is that he's mediocre no matter how you build him: as a tank your initiate is way too unreliable compared to everyone else, as a caster you're being outclassed by friggin everyone too. When the greatest quality one can give to a champion is "lolz he can cover the carry with his hitbox", it means said champion is in serious trouble.
Tangen: Here's what I usually run with Morgana:
Doran's Ring + HP pot (The early game bonus of Doran items are way too significant to not take them)
Catalyst + Boots (Sometimes if I must go back early I take a second Doran's Ring + boots, once again for early game)
Rod of Ages (survivability, AP and mana)
Boots 2 (Merc treads in most situations, Swiftness if the enemy CC is laughable)
Zhonya's Ring (AP bonus AP, and an active that synergise all too well with your ultimate)
Blue Elixir when you need them
That's about it for the core. After that you build according to what the enemy does. Tear is actually quite unnecessary on Morgana, and Chalice should only be gotten if you don't have any mana regen runes. (edit: also wards, if you play Morgana it is your duty to ward like your life depends on it)

Cho's an Abrams tank with a mouth. I don't think any other caster comes close to his sky high HP while strictly building to pump their AP. His burst AoE is terrific, it's long range, it's a bit hard to aim - and his feast is a tank destroyer.
He's only got weak CC (Silence AoE), a passive that doesn't do much once the laning phase is over and no 'I WIN!' button, but he's not a gimp by any stretch.
Feast is an ability that takes away half of Udyr's health when he has 180 magic resist and turtle stance on. And then you get silenced so you can't run away or turtle up again.
I think Chogath is one of the best counters to Udyr, next to maybe Kassadin.
personally last night i was fucking hating fiddlesticks
i made a wrong decision i guess in ninja tabi, 4 of their team was physical (and their tristana was destroying us) but not only was fiddle's silence murdering me as udyr, his fucking 3 second fear ruined me

Stop! Hammer time!
Cho should focus on tank / dual use items (Abyssal Scepter is awesome because it has AP, MR, and a team assist aura). Rod of Ages does fall under that, so it works, but I'd avoid any true AP items on him.
To give you an example of my inventory for a 18 / 3/ 6 game as Cho:
Doran's
Ninja Tabi (Merc is usually better, depends on enemy team comp)
Rod of Ages
Randuin's
Force of Nature
Rod of Power (860 gold +AP Rod)
If Cho gets a solo lane, his early level advantage should steamroll into an early kill advantage, and soon he is too dangerous not to target, and too tanky to burst down, so the enemy team is fucked.
To put things in perspective, even with tank items, I've done a Rupture / Scream / Devour combo to kill a 100% squishy many times. I once ended up against an Akali / Ashe lane, and at level 11, could devour them at 60% of their max HP, while being tough enough to escape any burst they tried to do.
I recommend running Ghost / Exhaust, the latter of which is used on physical carries during teamfights, or to slow someone down to be devoured alive early on. Great spell for any tank who wants to also kill stuff.
Is it bad if the only champion I'm good with is Garen? And if that's the case, who else should I try? I almost feel like Ezreal is a ranged Garen but that might just be because of the AD build.

Ezreal is nothing like Garen
If you like Garen (being a total douche) you could try olaf (total douche of a physical character who never fucking dies) or Singed (hey look I have a billion health I'll run circles around you [sunfire poison trail] and you'll never fucking kill me)
If you like Garen, try Mundo or (like Zen said) Brolaf.
Mundo is an early game laning beast against most. Quickly snowballs into a mid-late game beast if you can keep up the farm/kills.
Brolaf is all "hay guyz im jungling try to stop me!" and then you try but you still die. Oh, and then he comes out of the jungle with lizard/golem and demolishes you at random. Very fun.

I always wondered why Mercury Treads doesn't affect silence. Hell I might consider a quicksilver sash next time I face up against a silence heavy team. Getting murdered in those 3 seconds is no fun. Turtle stancing through the entirety of Mordekaiser's ultimate while at 50hp is very fun however.
I haven't played Brolaf in a while, I should give him a whirl again. I've been going tank or mage in premades lately.
you can get survivability if you need it. or gunblade or infinity. you could look at who is doing the most damage to you, and get armor or mr to counter this.
it really depends on the game. some games you will be doing well, and just need more damage to keep doing well, or you will need some survivability so that you can live long enough to pwn.
switch sword of the divine with rushing infinity edge and maybe replacing it with madred's or something crazy.
sword of the divine just isn't the best item on him.
I really like one Phantom Dancer for him so he can attack super fast, crit chance pretty high and after he kills someone, he's so fast that he can just take off after his ult wears off.
I also grab crit DAMAGE runes instead of crit chance, since Tryn crits like it's his job anyway, I'd rather get more out of it with crit damage or even armor pen.
To be honest, grab a guardian angel with Tryndamere instead of sword of the divine and watch people pull their hair out.
Initiate -> attack squishies -> kill 2 mans -> die and revive with GA -> keep killings mans -> pop ult before you die -> kill more mans -> run away.
you will do MUCH more damage with a GA and killing more stuff than a SOTD will ever do.

I suggest a tear of the goddess into manamune. The tear early helps with her mana issues. Gunblade is awesome. Inifinity is kind os expensive and you may not even get it. The game is going to have to last really long.

He's just so fun and late game he's incredible.
I played him 7 games yesterday and won 6 of those.
I'll post my build for those who care.
Summoner spells: Exhaust/Ghost (untalented)
Runes: Red/Quint: Critical chance Yellow: Dodge Blue: Magic resist/level
Masteries: 21/9/0
Starting Items: Brawler's gloves/2 potions
Item Build: Avarice Blade -> Boots 1 -> Emblem of Valour -> Finish Boots (Merc Treads) -> Finish Stark's Fervor -> Finish Youmu's Ghostblade -> Sword of the Divine -> Infinity Edge -> Wildcard

this picture sums it up
But I'm looking for some advice on builds. I've read several guides but I'm looking for wisdom from here as well. :winky:
This is what I'm doing now:
Saphire Crystal + Heal Pot > Boot 1 > Tear of the Godess > Archangel's Staff > Sorc boots...
I've tried Meija's, 2nd Archangel, Frozen Heart. Zhonya would be great to, but I haven't tried that yet.
Most guides like Chalice over Tear.
Thoughts?
Madreds Razor > Boots 1 > Wriggles > Boots 2 (usually berserkers greaves or mercury treads) > Phantom Dancer > ????
Does that look good? What should I go with after Phantom Dancer, Infinity Edge? Starks Fervor?

This Ramus meme is one of the best things to ever come out of online gaming.
"OK"
If you look on the LoL forums, there are 50 page threads where someone starts off by saying something about Ramus, and almost every response is "OK".
It makes sense if you've spent a bit of time playing as Ramus.
