I'll try being a bit sneakier and use slam first I guess. It just seems like I die during the slam most of the time, so I may stun one or more pro's but I don't get the kills, just assists. How important is the skill that lets you plant yourself? It seems like the critical shots would be nice, but I've never been in a situation where I felt like it would help much.

The deploy for the gunner is pretty good actually, if you can find a safe place to do it. It adds to his already ridiculous killing power.
Also, as mts mentioned, level 3 deploy will put a cage over your face to protect from headshots. Another thing to remember is that while deployed you can hold the jump button to keep your jets going, and burn any assassins who try to sneak up behind you.
Possibly my favorite way to kill assassins.
I don't really like the Tank's deploy though. He's so much better with skill recharge, running around grenading and charging everyone.
Just had a blast as Assault. I thought you had to press the grapple button at the end of the charge when it's level 3 but I finally realized that's not how it works and I really enjoy the class now. Flying just out of an assassin's range while peppering them with the AR is great. Fuck those skinny bitches.
It makes me happy that the number of servers with decent ping seems to increase every day.

I am finding that if you get caught by one of those inviso she devils and you have full health- I can charge shoryken her before she can react after the throw... I have a sliver of health but I still win.
Is that cause she didnt get me from behind? or by design?

So I'm of the opinion that support need to be nerfed
Or everyone else needs to be buffed, because what the fuck
If a team has more than one support, and they both have level 2 firebases, and they both place them in the middle of one of the smaller maps, you're basically fucked
They're constantly healing each other, the firebases are constantly healing them, and nothing kills the firebases fast enough to have any sort of effect at all
Even the gunner's split mortar rounds take at least three or four hits to kill, and by then the enemy team has killed you because you are a big slow walking target focusing on killing a couple of turrets
I mean seriously. Even their shotguns are deadly to pretty much any class at close range, and on certain maps, there's no way to get near them without dying

i kind of agree with this. dual supports and firebases can rape you.
Ran into an Assassin that would farm bots for juice then run into our base, juice up, kill all the turrets and run away. I thought that was an odd strat.

That's what some assassins think is good. I think it's goofy.
Once more, as I stated before, the assassin's job is to roll up and fuck bitches up. Armor or not, matters not if you're getting nailed in the back. Frontal assault assassins are either doing it wrong or got cocky.

Meleeing bots gets you juice, if your being contained but not fully spawncamped yet, then enemy bots will be reaching your base, melee them as much as you can without getting picked off by a player pushing in. Use juice to break out and regain the center.
Also spawning bots can work pretty well depending on your class.
The bot murdering assassins are good because with the juice they can also wreck the enemy players much more reliably and entierly alone. Concentrating on bots nets them alot of juice that other classes just arnt picking up.
Not saying an assassin shouldnt go for people and if you can do it without getting murdered whilst you work then that is good too, but theres alot of pros to the bot slaughter approach and not all that many cons. Besides maybe being boring?
Edit. About the Tanks deploy, at level 2 it gives you pretty great and instant health regen, so if you get out of a rough fight and back to base you can heal up much much faster.
Also if theres a laser turret of any level left unattended by the enemy, deploying infront of it and letting it shoot you charges up your juice in a matter of seconds and does really little damage.
You guys are mixing up Assassins with Spies from TF2. Assassins, late game, are shit for taking out pros. They are far more useful taking out bots. That Assassin grapple that only does 1/6 dmg to a tank? It takes out half a Jackbot's health.
So yeah, that Assassin that was raping face on bots and destroying all the turrets, probably won you the game. You did win, didnt you?
2: Is there single player? Or split-screen co-op? If not, is it on the PS3?
There is a very limited single player. Local Blitz mode, a survival Tower Defense battle with about seven stages. The game is very online multiplayer focused, and is not on Ps3.
That actually sounds a lot like my buddy's basic strategy except that he's incredibly successful with it. He usually goes something like 2-1 to 4-1 AND owns a lane and all the turrets in your base. I don't know if he's still doing this, but at one point he wasn't even buying cloak. He'd just spend that money on juice.
Edit: Like anything, this does still depend on a little teamwork. If we're on the same team and I am able to support him a bit on his rushes, he has something like a 90% win rate doing that. If we're not on the same team, he's flying completely solo, and I'm in our base expecting the shit, his odds drop off quickly. But even being ready for it, if he has other competent people on his team, it's very tough to defend against on some maps.

Turret ineffectiveness against humans irritates me. I wish a class could pilot them manually, ala Brutal Legend. Lets see how smart that Assassin is when she gets a face full of dakka.

If you want to experience what a player-controlled turret would be like, play Gunner and max out deploy. :P

Reading some of this thread while new players get to grips with it on PC is pretty funny.
Nerf Support? Really? After the last two major patches slaughtered the guy?
Just be thankful you weren't playing when the Support was actually effective. :P
Firebases are fucking useless compared to how much they used to own, if you can't deal with them; learn! They can't actually move, they prioritise bots over players, and have limited range / line of sight - stop running into them! Not to mention the output changes to the heal/hurt gun, Juice reduction and cooldown on Airstrikes meaning the Support now has no option but to turtle.
A decent Gunner, Tank or Assault can shred a Firebase in seconds now, Assassin's can blind them with their stun jump, they can be wrecked by Snipers etc. Or, you know, one single airstrike from an opposing Support wiping them from the map. Play one for a while, learn all the ways in which you can have your arse handed to you, before you start calling for even more nerfs for the poor guy!
Also, good Assassin players concentrate on bots and turrets then Juice rush the base killing pros. They earn piles of money through bot destruction, and waste the opposing team's cash invested in turrets while leaving their base vulnerable to a push from other attack-focussed players pushing lanes. Shurikens can have a real whittling effect too.
Poor Assassin players endlessly rush at enemy pros, giving away piles of money in numerous unneccessary easy kills, scuppering their teams chance of victory while the other team buys upgrades and Juice.
The former has a very real positive impact on games and is an enormously valuable strategy.
Sounds like the rest of the team was playing Team Deathmatch when they're supposed to be playing Crossfire.
I really wish they'd remove the K/D boards from Objective based gametypes. I don't give a shit if you went 30 and 1, you still lost.
It lets your team know who is giving the other team lots and lots of money by dying.
I was gonna disagree with you, but I just played a game with some idiot who went 5-31 and then 2-29 playing as an assassin. He definitely cost them the game.

KDR is meaningless because it assumes you're trying to kill the opposing pros as much as they are you.
I've gone sub 0.25 KDR some matches as Tank and still ended up with way more cash than anyone else, and of course we also won.

Trying to figure out what's so hard to understand about this.
Causing one pro to wait for a respawn is not nearly as helpful as killing a dozen bots and and maybe some turrets in the same amount of time that you spend hunting that one pro.
And to whoever thought shurikens are worthless, you need to get stealth 3, then just stealth every time you reload. Critical shurikens bouncing everywhere is pretty ace. They still take out bots extremely fast, and if you start bouncing them around the opponents base you can rack up a ton of assists/kills once you start pushing bots in.
Also a lot less risky than running around with the sword, giving the other team money.

Indeed, the only time this guy gets upgraded to major annoyance is when he ISN'T on the other team.
Which reminds me! Do the shurikens have an arc when you fire them or can you fire them whilst cloaked? The other night I was on an upper walkway on a map I cant remember, but I noticed something coming down from above in to a lane between two barriers ahead of me, it then started to bouncing back and forth for a while. I am positive it was shurikens I am just not sure how it was executed unless I was seeing things!

And if they're really cool, using shurikens exclusively to constantly pester the enemy team/bots/turrets.

Eh assassins have their place. they need to play a finishing role and go in behind a gunner or assault to get those weakened by them

Personally, I find that the class is "Assassin" and not "Bot-sweeper." and play it as such. I've yet to get complaints.
That said, I'm done with this discussion as I'm done being a goose about it.
No
Should an Assassin ignore bots and turrets in favor of chasing after pros?
No
That's pretty much the long and short of it.
Do stuff that helps your team, if another Pro is fucking with you and/or your teammates, shank him in the back and get back to business.
