Should an Assassin ignore bots and turrets in favor of chasing after pros?
No
That's pretty much the long and short of it.
Do stuff that helps your team, if another Pro is fucking with you and/or your teammates, shank him in the back and get back to business.
Oh, I'm not saying never kill pros.
I'm just saying the priority should be bots/turrets > pros. If there's some jerk in your base that no one else on your team can get rid of, then by all means give it a shot.
Nearly every other class is better at killing pros than the assassin is, which doesn't quite make sense given that they're "assassins", but it's true. Conversely, the assassin is without a doubt the BEST class for killing bots, and is also up there when it comes to taking out turrets, either as a result of killing bots(juice) or with critical shurikens. You have to play to the class' strength, regardless of it being called an "assassin."
Do whatever you have fun doing I guess, but don't be surprised that your team isn't all "WOW thanks for killing those 8 dudes, that really helped!"
Am I the only person being killed by Assassins regularly then? I don't have gold armor on either of my custom classes, but I do have silver armor on one and they still manage to fuck me up pretty often. I can survive a front grapple but it typically leaves me with a sliver of health and they either sword swipe me before I can charge grapple or a buddy of theirs will drop me since the grapple made me an easy target. Do I just need to run gold armor more or what? I keep an eye out for them even if they're stealth and I have decent awareness, I think, but they're still annoying shits. I get that they could be killing me and not contributing much to their team, but it's still annoying getting grapple fucked by the same dude all match.
as an assasin, I find getting to the front line and killing supports/assaults/snipers/gunners helps my team out quite a bit for them to push the bots back, every once in awhile I'll get in the back of their base and kill the support and hack at the turrets, generally just trying to take advantage wherever the enemy is lacking in defense and crippling it further.
am I doing something wrong? should I be shooting the bots with the tank on the front line uncloaked?

With Tanks, the health regen from upgrading the deploy is handing for taking out turrets when nobody's home.
Just boost up, deploy and burn them with your torch, works well assuming they haven't upgraded them too much.
It's pretty simple really. In the first two minutes of a match you can either:
a)kill a couple pros (if they don't see you coming, don't have armor, and are alone)
or
b)stall out an entire lane's bots, then juice and completely decimate the opponent's base defenses.

That's just about right. It's important to kill the Pros that are guarding their bots. What is not right is picking a target, and then chasing them across the stage while Yakety Sax plays in the background.
Also, an assassin with a sword that dashes into a group of bots with their lunge attack will almost instantly destroy the whole group. So when they're not guarding their bots, or if the guards have been killed, you can hit and run and push your bots up like that.
I am having trouble playing the supposedly amazing Support. All of my abilities are short-range, so other Pros just kill me from far away.
Also, in LOL minions will fight each other and ignore champions unless they see a friendly champion get attacked. Do turrets and bots in MNC behave similarly?
Any ETA on the server count fix? Kind of a pain to try 20 times to join servers and then end up in a game that's almost over.
Edit: Finally got into a good run of games. Until some sniper joined that was able to shut down our team on his own since the map had LoS to all three spawn exits. Even if we went out as pairs, he had gold reload (or rapid fire?) and was able to take more than a shot a second. Annoying.

Tonight everyone is an assault. 3 rounds I just went up against 5 assaults + a sniper. Occasionally theyd mix in an assassin because apparntly that is the trick to beating tanks?
That is not the trick to beating tanks.
Fun times none the less.
I find that I crash atleast twice when I start the game but after that I have no issues!
I dont understand why more people dont play tank. Tank is amazing.

Bots are meant to attack other bots and the moneyball, primarily.
Turrets will attack bots first, then pros. (Once you push your bots into the enemy base, it's easy to destroy their turrets while it's distracted with bots)
And Support got a pretty harsh nerfing recently. Though they've always been short range, so you need to duck behind cover and utilize your firebase and air strikes. Their shotgun is one of the most deadly weapons at close range, but it loses effectiveness startlingly quickly even at mid range.
Hrm anyone else crashing every time they are dead and the game ends (Steam)?

It really is. I swapped to it with Speed > Skill > Reload and come in first more often than not. I think Tank might border on over powered <.< Their charge + spin is amazing, on top of their deploy and stun/blind and survivability and jump jets. It's a little too much -- I feel like an assassin who can do everything the assassin can do except cloak, only better.

I had been using armor instead of speed, and, while I generally boss like hell, I do feel slow as fuck. Is the speed boost comparable to a health boost as far as fight longevity goes? I've had a lot of luck engaging multiple opponents at a time with my health boost.

I don't bother with the Speed boost endorsement because you can always pick up speed boosts in game, and they don't stack with the endorsement past gold anyway.
Picking up the little winged feet drops give you "virtual" endorsements until you die, pick up one and you have Bronze Speed, pick up two and you have Silver, pick up three and you have Gold.

Oh damn, I thought they were more temporary than that. That explains a lot of my streaks.
Yeah I swap from a Speed > Skill > Reload to a Skill > Regen/Health (debating) > Reload after I've upgraded my product bomb and charge. The speed is very nice at the start, but once carnage becomes more reliable the boots are nicer (plus with gold skill you can use charge more regularly for speed boosting).

After a few days, I have to admit this really isn't doing much for me. I like the bots vs players mode, although no one seems to be playing that, but the crossfire mode isn't much fun. The combat feels... off? I can't really put my finger on it.
Edit: Also I've played probably 30 rounds and every time it dumps me on the losing team. It's very possible that that's due to my lack of skill, but I've never won a game.

I can't say this is exactly your problem, but one of the biggest banes of xbl gameplay is that people don't play the game correctly.
It's a silly thing to say, as people should play to have fun! But getting put in game after game where people only worry about K/D ratio is really annoying. The game is as much tower defense as it is FPS. When you get put on a team of people pushing and holding lanes while playing on a coordinated team I'm hard pressed to think of a more fun multiplayer experience. For me, at least.
Fats try playing as a Tank or Gunner. Both are optimal for leading your team to a correct victory (bot pushing instead of Pro killing). After swapping to Tank and Gunner I've had a much much more enjoyable solo play experience.

Yeah, I think it's fair to say that the metagame at this point is comprised of shit that doesn't actually win games. I'm sure it won't take long for people to start to understand the game better.
I roll with Rate of fire/crits>armour>skilll recovery though I have a setup with reload on gold instead. The idea is to be charging and spinning enough that the instant damage hits are better than focused burning. I suspect it wont be much good against tanks/gunners though.
Also Tank has both dash and cloak. Its just that he cloaks himself in fire and weighs 5 million tonnes. Hes really more like an asteroid coming to destroy a planet than an assassin.

uuuuuuuuuuuug. There's another Steam update, and it's a biggen again.
So while my Internets is getting hosed, anyone have a changelog?
edit: n/m check the forums:
Monday Night Combat Product Update 2
12/21/10
Fixes
Fixed scrollbars on all scrollable UIs.
Fixed a display issue in the Playbook.
Fixed game crash on non English languages
Fixed sound for 7.1 audio devices
Fixed not seeing Blitz servers in the server browser.
Adjustments
Improved the chat and console font.
Colorized team chat to match your team’s color.
Increased the time to start a Blitz match in order to give more time for players to get on the server. Game can still by started earlier by toggling ready.
Improved server lists and crashing associated with multiplayer.
Reduced the overall number of bots in Crossfire.
Balance Changes
Decreased the amount of damage a Firebase takes while it’s deploying.
Decreased the recovery time of level 2 and 3 Airstrike.

His cloak is blinding your ass with a grenade while he goes all kid-with-magnifier-glass-v-ants on you.
Assassin + Gold armor, Silver slashes (this does affect slashes right?), and Bronze Juice (almost unnoticeable, maybe I should get something else) was pretty cool.
I guess most people don't actually run with armor or something but my grapples (usually from the back) have almost always been instant kills though I do tend to spend my time mainly bot killing. Juiced shurikens is awesome.
Gonna have to say, I don't like MNC on the PC. The controls for the powers (which were my biggest concern) are addressed decently, but it's still nowhere near as convenient as the facepad. I don't like the movement as it feels too jittery with the mouse, and the lag is just enough to throw me off balance. While I'm happy PC gamers can experience it's joys, I believe I shall crawl back to the hive of scum and villainy that is Live.
Just to stress, the above is my opinion, YMMV, etc. etc.

So your only legit complaint is that the controls feel off from what you're used to? Which a 360 controller attached to your PC handily eliminates? Latency, of course, is server dependent, which only gets better as more servers get into the ecosystem.
What I've read they're going to do, actually, is allow you to remap the skill keys individually for each class, which would eliminate my only control problems I have with the game.
Oh, patch notes for Steam using philistines:
Monday Night Combat Product Update 3
12/23/10
Fixes
* Fixed zero mouse sensitivity issue.
* Fixed spawned bots rewarding bounty and assists when they explode via money ball, time out or buzzer attack.
* Fixed PhysX crash.
Adjustments
* Increased lifetime of console echos, chat text and team chat.
New Features
* Added Admin features to dedicated servers
* Added command line support for dedicated servers.
Balance Changes
* Reduced the duration of Sniper Trap Freeze against players.
* Increased recovery time of level 2 and 3 Tank Charge
* Decreased damage done by level 3 Tank Charge, knockdown and stun is unchanged.
Just as I was done downloading patch 2, goshdarnit.
I still play this with the the 360 controller on the PC.
I dunno if it's easier, I'm just used to it.

I mean, that's cool, more power. It's perfectly legit as long as you don't desire to to go all Counterstrike MLG pro AWP supa snipa (and frankly, we need less of those on the servers). But saying you flat-out dislike this version of the game because Kbam feels wrong even though the it natively supports said controller? With 360 prompts and everything? Strikes me as a bit disingenuous, is all.
Startled me good though when I had my controller plugged in and all off a sudden it started vibrating like crazy on my desk when I started up a match. I then put that that thing on my crotch for the real force-feedback experience.
