Edit: Landing product grenades (especially level 3 ones) is an amazing thing to do against pros and a great way to help close the distance as a tank and get kills. They are also great for killing turrets. Personally I feel that they are a waste on bots when the tank already has death blossom. Level 3 skill regen on the tank can lead to some delicious product grenade spam.
Started playing some with my fixed system and got in a few good games. Seems like Gold Armor is really good, especially for lighter classes. Played Assassin and went from dying all the time to stabbing and escaping.

My justification for it is that the minigun revs up completely in about 3 seconds of continuous shooting. No RoF and having clip means I won't have to reload as often and can be a bit more liberal with longer bursts.

you all have any servers you recommend? ones you frequent? just picked this up today.
While I don't have specific servers I necessarily like, I try to get servers that extend game length to 20-25 minutes long. 15 just doesn't quite seem long enough to me, but much longer and you're basically stalemating until the money balls drop. Which can actually be fun on its own, but not everyone has that much time to spend.
Probably the hardest part of playing Tank for me is the Product Grenades. They are so freaking difficult to aim, they travel in this weird arc and always way more to the left or right than I'm expecting. I've almost never been able to hit anyone with them and don't see how others do.
Guess I should do some Blitzes to practice.
They're not really meant for aiming at other pros in my opinion. It's best used on bots since their movement is generally slow and predictable.
We have a dedicated server set up for PA mans. Just check the server list for Penny Arcade. The password is wang.
Was playing a tank today. It was OT and I ran through the other base's turrets, got to the money ball, and hit juice. Before I was even finished deploying *BANG BANG BANG* dead from sniper nowhere near me.
Ugh.
Edit: In fact, I'm starting to think I might be done with this until they do something about them.
Maybe... don't deploy when there's a sniper around?
Which would have achieved what, exactly? No one can kill a juiced tank with max health in three shots except apparently for the one that doesn't have to get anywhere near them.

Well, it would've achieved not standing still for a sniper to shoot you in the head until you died.

Yes I imagine then it would have taken five or six.

So one head shot as soon as I go in to the area, a couple shots to whittle, and then one more to the head as I continue to circle the money ball.
And then God forbid there are two.

So, what's the point of the assassin class?
I tried it out today and I noticed that any of the 'big' classes (tank and gunner?), if I attack them at all (ie, stealthed, from behind), it's a free kill on me because they get to react after the attack faster than I do and one-shot me with their charge thing.
I also notice that I was regularly being killed in one shot by the Assault charge.
What's the point of making the one class that has to get into melee to be any use also the only class that is too fragile to ever melee?
edit: more realistically I'm probably just awful at the game.
Counter-intuitively, not to kill opposing players.
The Assassin is most useful farming enemy bots and then making juiced runs on turrets and the moneyball. Don't bother going after enemy pros except as targets of opportunity and in special circumstances like when an enemy Sniper needs to be harassed (although chances are he has traps that will make it futile, but worth a shot).

You can instantaneously take out most enemies who are working alone, shred bots and gain massive amounts of juice once you've teched up to level three passive and then use said juice to take out an entire lanes worth of turrets. It's also worth mentioning that assassins are the best overtime class bar none due to stealth/sprint shenanigans and crazy fast juice build rates.
Edit: Assassins are also arguably the single best Jackbot killers in the game.
This is on the 360 version just fyi, although I imagine that both versions are similar in terms of balance.

.... aha.
Well, okay, I'll give that a shot. I felt like any time I got even within sight of enemy pros, I was dead.
I still think it's retarded that my assassin's grapple deals less damage than like, an Assault's charge.
I firmly believe that every game ever made would be more fun without sniper classes. Fuck instant death from across the map about which you can do absolutely nothing except hide in cover and therefore not do anything to help your team all fucking game. Sure, you can pray that your team has a sniper good enough to deal with them, or that their team is incompetent enough to let an assassin ruin him, but you personally cannot do a damned thing about the sniper except die, over and over and fucking over again, or hide.
Good snipers are just absolutely no fucking fun to play against and I cannot fucking wait until developers start realising this.

It doesn't, unless you're front-grappling with the sword.
Also, if you're still intent on killing pros, don't attack alone. Let a teammate draw the attention of an enemy before you try to attack.
The sword front-grapple is actually 3 hits for a total of 450 damage, as mentioned later on that page. Dagger frontstab is still less damage than a level 3 charge-grapple, though.

I just picked the game up today (a friend of me asked to try it out); she invited me into a game, and one of the players on the other team was 26/0 when I got in.
Proceed to spend the next 5 minutes dying the moment I step out of the spawn to a sniper just hanging out there.
Pretty nearly put the game down forever right then.
Yup, regretting this purchase already. Snipers suck all the fucking fun out of the game and this is the second night in the row where I have gone on like 8 game losing streaks where the team I am on sucks giant balls every time.

This is simply untrue. See, the assault is a counter to them too. So long as they can wade across the map through enemies and bots, and often through the enemy's base, to get behind a sniper at which point they can fly over the ice mines.

[edit] Really, this entire fucking bitchfit can be summed up as "I do not enjoy playing this game when my team is heavily outclassed by the opposing team." If you were going up against good assaults, you'd be bitching about being bombed off the map from the other side of a ten-foot-high wall.

Maybe I have never played against a really good assault, then, because I've never had a problem. I've played against ones who are better than me and killed me more than I killed them, but it's never seemed like I was helpless, just that they managed to have superior positioning and get the drop on me. I felt like if I were better, I could take them out (and I'm probably an average-skill player or a little better right now). I in no way feel that against good snipers. All I can do is camp in my base behind walls and kill bots as they get to us, which means we are turtling, and will lose.
Snipers are a problem in most every game where they get both 1-shot headshot kills and no bullet travel time. I hated them in TF2 as well, and it was a similar problem, although TF2 had more terrain for me to abuse to get close to them, and players moved faster so it was harder to hedshot. (Come on, headshotting a tank or a gunner is a JOKE!! They can barely even move. It also makes both of their deploy skills virtually useless because you die the moment you deploy.) Really good snipers still killed me as soon as I spawned and walked to the fight, though. BC2 doesn't have this problem because it has bullet drop and travel time. If someone snipes me from across the map, it was one HELL of a shot and I congratulate them for it. It's a much rarer occurrence.
TL;DR Snipers whose entire purpose is 1-shotting the other team tend to be underpowered as team players (eg they are shit at taking out bots) so to compensate the developers make them really OP against other humans, which isn't a problem when the sniper is shit, but completely ruins the game when they are very good.

Nope. I have no problem with excellent assaults. I've played against them, they are terrifyingly deadly. I also actually have a chance against them since they can't kill me in one shot from across the map. Instead, like all the other classes, they have to take risks to be able to kill people.

It also gives a boost to mobility since you can fire at them from range and then keep moving to somewhere else rather than waddling on over to them.

There is actually an "Accuracy Cap"
Gunner with Gold Accuracy has the highest accuracy they can get, and thus they get no accuracy benefit from deploying
Likewise a Gunner with Silver Accuracy will have the same accuracy as Gold when they deploy, since Deploying gives a one stage boost to accuracy
I tend to run RoF/Accuracy/Clip for this reason
