the only people i really hate are the ones that play sniper every frigging round. I mean I have sniper as one of my custom class, and I only play him when my team decides its a good idea to have 3 assaults
[edit] Really, this entire fucking bitchfit can be summed up as "I do not enjoy playing this game when my team is heavily outclassed by the opposing team." If you were going up against good assaults, you'd be bitching about being bombed off the map from the other side of a ten-foot-high wall.
Nope. I have no problem with excellent assaults. I've played against them, they are terrifyingly deadly. I also actually have a chance against them since they can't kill me in one shot from across the map. Instead, like all the other classes, they have to take risks to be able to kill people.
You clearly have never played against Garthor. He can definitely one shot you from across the maps as assault.
Sniper passive 3 makes them really average at murdering bots. like really average.
Its all about lining up your shot so every hit nails all the bots and the explosions from each hit will also hit every bot around it. Can take out a group of bots in no time if you do it right.
yea there is usually a small group of people on vent when we play. hell i don't even know th push to talk button in game. its J right? the voice in game kind of sucks in quality
though honestly its just people bitching about snipers non stop, ou probably aren't missing anything

Is anybody else still experiencing a bug where explosion effects get displayed as two-dimensional black polygons? I lob a salvo of explodiballs from my mortar across the map, and I can't even tell if I'm hitting anything because the impact point is obscured by these flat black shapes. It's like textures for explosions are missing or not being loaded or something.

I don't know what it is by default, but you can set the push to talk button to whatever you want. I haven't heard anyone using voice chat in MNC, but doesn't use the Steam voice chat? I've never had any problems with that.
does steam voice chat work with whomever is in the game? or is it friends only
i still get black polygon smoke/fire occaisonally. though it is much less than when the game first came out
It works with whoever is in the game (perhaps team-only?) because I was playing with pubs a couple of nights ago and a guy was using his mic almost non-stop. He was a pretty cool dude too, wish I'd had mine plugged in at the time.

The default is T, but that's obviously super awkward if you want to be able to move at the same time. Like Peewi said though, you can remap it to whatever you want.
The only Steam voice chat that I'm aware of is the option from your personal IM or group chat.

I am setting up a public dedicated server for us to use as well. We just started stocking Shuttle mini PCs in our shop and I am going to make the demo unit into a server to run from my work connection.
This thing uses just 22 watts of power on average.
I just tried some pub servers for the first time in a couple weeks, and in a way it's reassuring to see that they still provide an absolutely godawful experience.
The last game I joined, I was assigned to a team that consisted of four assassins and one support.

I mostly pub and the experience is far too inconsistent to generalize like this. Some games are great, some are atrocious, and most fall somewhere in between. It averages out okay. Switch servers if you run into something like that.

I agree with this.
Pretty much all of my playing has consisted of my brother and I both joining a pub server while Skyping
And while there are some runs of terrible, overall it can still be loads of fun.

FUCK. I can not get the server to show up on the server browser.
I have all the ports forwarded, but the "PublishSteamServer" reads my host address as 192.x.x.x:7777
IDK what is going on.
Edit: I have "islanmatch" set to false and I can see the server as a LAN server from the browser. Just not an internet server
i was never able to see the private server ntil after i had joined it, and i only think it shows up in my favorites and not hte general population list

FUCK YEAH. Finally got it. The ports I forwarded were not actually being forwarded. Fuck linksys routers.
The Penny Arcade: PubStop is online.
Edit: It is only intermittently showing up on the server list. You can direct connect to it from the command line, but that defeats the whole reason or having a pub server. I posted on the MNC forums for help.

This has been the case for me as well. There's always the really awful teams or, on occasion, the team that's too good. But on average pubs aren't bad.

I haven't been able to jump on in a few days but I'm going to check this out later tonight.

Our private server, however is up and running. Thinking about making it public for part of the week.
I think most people agree that speed isn't a worthwhile endorsement for most, if not all, classes. Beyond that I don't know if there's anything that's applicable across the board.
I run the same order of endorsements for Support/Tank/Assault/Sniper: gold rate of fire, silver Armor, bronze skill regen. I figure if I can't kill someone before using up all my ammo and skills, and I want to do this as quickly as possible, I'm doing something horribly, horribly wrong. It's either die or reload and regen after getting somewhere safe, whether I've killed my target or run away.
For assassin I run gold armor, silver skill regen, bronze health regen.
I don't have a gunner loadout currently, but a lot of people go for max DPS: gold crit, silver rate of fire, bronze clip size. This makes the gunner a glass cannon.

Those 30-0 sober-boy wankers are just total cunts.

It is if it's funny.
To be fair, if anyone had problems like I did they probably couldn't hear you.
Speaking of being able to hear each other, are we thinking about joining Vent for nightly Wang Isle sessions?

My GPU is a Radeon HD6850.
Also I still fucking love this game, but I definitely need to play with you all more often.
Also I will echo the "fuck snipers" sentiment.
I really don't think they belong in a game like this.

Dont do this to meeeeee.
Also is there a way to add the PA server without finding it in the server list and clicking the add button?(Because I couldn't find it there.)
Edit: Reading is fundamental.
