I really should get back into MNC. It was my staple when I was unemployed, but since then I've gotten a job so I'm either working or catching up on non-$15 games that I missed during my four month stint. I'm working a lot though so my time is pretty monopolized by lengthy single-player titles (Bioshock 2, DA:O). I hope the content update gets lots of people back into it. It really is a ton of fun with the potential via bug fixes and new maps to be the best.

I don't think ANY FPS or multi-player based game has a huge steady constantly playing community other than the big wigs like Halo, Call of Duty, etc.
New Game A comes out, everyone rushes in and plays it, the New Game B comes out... almost everyone leaves Game A and plays Game B.
Game A has a new content patch or expansion, everyone remembers Game A and rushes back to play it. Then Game B gets a new content patch and lather, rinse, repeat.

Its obvious. Microsoft has been putting everything into the Reach launch, and ignoring other things.
I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say that Microsoft is big enough that a little thing like Halo Reach doesn't shut down the entire company.
I think they're just being slow. Probably not a whole lot of incentive to certify something that's going to be given away, right?
I'm sure if Microsoft had the chance to push through certification of the Free MNC Content or the 500 Point Princess Power Rainbow Pony content patch, they'd probably chose to do the one with monies attached.

Microsoft pulled the same shit on Relic with the Dawn of War 2 patches and updates.

It's these shenanigans that caused them to push Valve to a console that, initially, they hated so much that Gabe even called it a "total disaster" and claimed they should have just scrapped the whole thing and apologized to everyone.
So I got a HUGE survey the other day from Microsoft about MNC.
Like, HUGE.
It took me about 20-30 minutes to complete and got really really into everything from "How much fun did you have with MNC?" to "Here's the classes. Rank them by which one is fun."

Is the content update going to nerf snipers? Cause snipers are bullshit.
They are "rebalancing", so maybe snipers are affected. Honestly, it has been so long since they announced the update that I don't remember the details too clearly. Except for the assassin stuff (no cloak during grapple and faster "cool down" on missed grapples).
If snipers are overpowered, then win every match with one. A really good sniper can wreck, but most people who play it kind of suck. The same can be said about any class.
Snipers are annoying, but that is what snipers do.
The only place snipers feel broken to me is on Steel Peel.

Nuka Cola arena is going to be free. It'll be in the next DLC coming real soon.
And it will actually be real soon this time. Uber explained why M$ took so long with this patch and said it wouldn't be like that this time.
Our general philosophy on Monday Night Combat is that it is a service based model of game. For a multiplayer game like ours to be successful, we need to adjust balance, fix exploits, and add new content based on feedback from our community and do it quickly. Unfortunately for the our first Title Update, which was handed off to Microsoft for certification over a month ago, got caught up in a perfect storm of software changes and tons of new games coming out. This caused our Title Update to get backlogged along with other digital titles. They tell us this won't happen again in the future so our first free DLC should be out sooner than later. We'll have announcements of what's in that DLC in the coming weeks.

Although by the looks of things, my Support dude is going to be pretty crap now; that nerfing looks brutal, people had learned how to deal with Support and he was no way near as effective as at launch.

Snipers are mighty, everything is what snipers do best.
Fixed that for you.
Traps+Flak+Explosive Shot? Perhaps the best defensive skill in the game coupled with one of the best offensive skills and a really annoying passive. Oh, and headshots. Every map but LazeRazor has huge sight lines, and Flak is out of control with skill recharge. Move speed and jump height are also strong.
That said, I play a lot of sniper... It's hard to tell if he's really OP or not though, since it seems every time I get into a game with people better than me the host leaves/game closes.
Anyone get much testing in with Gold RoF on Support now that the patch hit? It seemed strong, but I didn't really run it through very rigorous trials. I tend to be more of a skill recharge + air strike kind of guy, so RoF is mucking up my endorsements.

The patch is wonderful. No more silly geese shooting the money ball without bots to take it down. No more glitches. No more OT juice rushes. And most importantly, no more lag-filled games of zero hit detection.
In fact, the hit detection and netcode is so improved that some guns feel overpowered. The shotgun is scary good now.
I played till 2am last night. I was late to work. I don't regret it.
Man, support(for better or worse) feels like a completely different class now. Gold RoF seems like it's basically mandatory now.

You might be a little disappointed, but supports are still going to annoy you, albeit in different ways. His hack, firebase, and mortar beacon abilities are weaker now, but the hurt/heal beam is shockingly good with gold RoF and it has the side effect of allowing him to build juice like nobody's business. Honestly, I think it's to early to really decide how balance is effected but the changes seem like a wash.
Is anyone on XBL now? I want to beat the playoff and other modes to get the achievements but all pubs are fucking terrible.

I'd like to see some extra achievements since I play this game enough I'd probably get them all legit and feel I've really achieved them.
I fear it would bring out too many achievement whores though, which we don't really have to worry about at the moment. I quite like knowing at the moment the people who are still playing are doing it for the love of the game.

I might be on tommorow. A friend is visiting from out of town, before hitting vegas (where he's from) for Alice in Chains/ Deftones. He loves this game, and we can split screen online. He likes tank and is good with it. He simply keeps pushing a lane. Will probably be playing some hockey as he's a big hockey fan, and his house got robbed so he hasn't bought 11 yet.

I hope the first DLC pack adds some more achievements. I know I SHOULDNT care about them, I know theyre pointless, but some harder achievements (related to getting the protags) would be a really awesome addition.
Playing now/soon? Taking a smoke break, then a game of NHL or MNC before bed. Will check the meta's before I do anything.
I miss this game. I think its the best "shooter" on XB right now. Never played reach, but reach seemed more of the same ol, same ol to me. I played Halo 2 and 3. Good games, good MP, but nothing refreshing.

But like I said, my buddy will be out here who loves this game, and I'm off work tommorow. Split screen is an option with this game. So I may be on earlier playing this tommorow. His wife and my GF like talking, he likes this game and so do I! I'm sure at some point tommorow I'll be online playing this game
I'd like to see some extra achievements since I play this game enough I'd probably get them all legit and feel I've really achieved them.
I fear it would bring out too many achievement whores though, which we don't really have to worry about at the moment. I quite like knowing at the moment the people who are still playing are doing it for the love of the game.
Like now it takes 3-4 minutes to steamroll people, instead of 1-2.
But maybe we're just rusty.
