On the topic of difficulty, my first playthrough will be on heroic. I find it enough of a challenge for me that i won't breeze through, but at the same time i know if i really work at it i can do it.
But i've never found the appeal of legendary. They should give you more gamer points for the legendary related achievements. I get fucking raped.
I'm the same way. I ran through Heroic-solo on all the Halo games and found the challenge to be fun, but not cheap (except for a few areas here and there).
I've never really done a Legendary run before. If I do, I'll probably co-op that. I'm planning on taking a sick day on Monday if anyone wants to run through with me. Gamertag is my PA Name.
I just had a real bitch of a level. I was entrenched in an area, had to fight my way out, and I had a Needle Rifle with two rounds and a Plasma Rifle against a fuckton of Elites. Took a while.
Also I think I've fucked myself out of the Falcon avatar prop somehow. Oh wells.

So someone on joystiq just posted that at 3:45 their gamestop had a line around the block. I really hope he's exaggerating, because if it's that crazy at mine then there really is no point in getting it tonight. I'll get home with it at 5 am.
Technically it should go pretty fast. You show up early to get your order pre-processed. They hand you a marked reciept, then at midnight they just look at the reciept and hand you the game. Goes pretty fast, especially because they also line everyone up by the version they ordered.
Yeah this is odd. At my gamestop they won't even process your preorder till 10:30pm.
Sitting in line all day is pretty pointless. You're still not going to get it any earlier.
My gamestop starts letting people in to process the orders at 10pm. They hand out tickets at the same time, so you can go home, come back at midnight, and have a place in the pick-up line. Once it is midnight, they let people in 10 at a time, hand them a copy, and mark the receipt. At that point, it's about 10 seconds per person, so the line goes really fast.
Edit: When they process it, they do everything but hand you the game. Even if you have paid the game in full, they still need to use the computer to make sure you are who you say you are, see how much you have paid, subtact 1 from their inventory, mark that you have picked up the game, etc. At midnight, when they hand out the games, they don't even use the computer at all, which makes it much faster.

Well, guys... it's been great hyping it up with you all, but today was a long day at work and tomorrow is already confirmed to be way longer despite the joyous Reach release.
With that said, I'm leaving the thread for a few days so that I may enjoy the campaign in solitary. Once my Heroic run finishes up, I will catch you all on the flip.

I think when I get it I'm heading straight into multiplayer. I'm excited for the campaign, but multiplayer is my favorite by far. Who can I expect to see on late tonight?

Depends on how you define late tonight. I'll be up for multi around the time people have to go to work in the morning.
So I'm 24 years old and Reach is officially the first game I have ever gone to a midnight release for.
(Though technically I did it for Rock Band also, but didn't get my hands on it that time...and it was at Wal-Mart.)
They say to get there at 10:00, but honestly, I'm just gonna head out at 11:00, get there around 11:15, and just hope there isn't a hellish line or something. If there is, oh well. I really don't feel like getting there as early as 10:00.

Hopefully my Gamestop will actually be prepared for this. They don't seem to get info down the chain too well to those boys there.
But the employees are good 'uns though. Should be an interesting night.

im trying to resist making very questionable money decisions involving the halo reach 360 bundle tomorrow. its too much money for me to be able to justify spending to play one game, and there arent any other 360 games that i really care about.

Dangit. Finally got the notice that my Legendary Edition has shipped from Amazon, but it's leaving from Phoenix rather than my local distribution center. On the upside, at least I know I can go out tonight and not miss a surprise early delivery.
On the downside, my order has shiiiiipped and I am waaaaaaitiiiiiing...

Well, my earlier comment wasn't a typo but one of my dad's dog is sick (kidney stones and more) so now I'm sitting at his place waiting to hear the diagnosis and watching the other two dogs.
So I may have to wait a couple of hours before I head out.
Man, Halo Twitter People are fast, less than 10 seconds after Waypoint posts Noble 6 codes and they are all used. No code for me *shakes fist at internet*

The only code I ever got from twitter was a code for a PSHome shirt
I'll let you in on a secret: writing a bot to automate code scraping from Twitter is pretty easy. I'm debating whether or not to write one before the next codes are released.
Heads up: my walmart only has two legendary editions, and 25 limited editions
No idea how many regular editions, but the statue won't be ready to snag if you didn't pre order.

Give it a month, they'll be 59.99 on Amazon as the Deal of The Day.
I'll never forget seeing a stack of cat-helmets at the local shop like 6 months after Halo 3 came out. An entire pyramid of them with "Halo 3 helmets, 24.99 each, no game included" on the sign.
