I think I did it for about an hour before I finally got it.
It is really annoying because the elite doesn't always move to the same location so more often than not you're just jumping into dirt.
Then sometimes your assassination doesn't "take" as in, you get the kill, but the animation doesn't go off and no achievement. Sometimes it does go off and you just don't get it.
It's a super touchy achievement. Hopefully someday someone will find a better method.
I have assassinated that elite no fewer than 25 times. I have done it on each difficulty, with full health, with almost no health, jumping from various points, with several different assassination animations. I've left sprint on, turned it off at the height of the jump, turned it off right before the assassination.

Alright, my first attempt at Forging, a small Juggernaut map named Vantage Point, is almost ready. I need to give it a test run some time with enough people, although that'll have to wait another day.

Yeah, I've been searching youtube for another method, because the one most commonly used/seen isn't working on me, despite doing it several different ways.

I got it from the top of the spire on Tip of the Spear. Easier than the last-level method.

Are there any reliable online resources for getting the most out of Forge? I'm making some progress, but I feel like maybe I'm doing things the hard way and was wondering if there are any videos or articles I could check out with some useful beginner's tips.

I tried that for a bit, getting the right checkpoint and keeping Jorge from killing the elite made it annoying.

He'll be whatever the player sets as their Preferred Species because we can't set the player models in the game settings, only Bungie can
Although I wonder how that would even work since someone can become the Juggernaut without dying, so they'd suddenly completely change models. I wonder if the engine can even do that.

At least I got solo Legendary out of the way last night.

As is a badass video of Spider and I on that level just now doing the Famine challenge on Legendary
utilising the rocket hog as much as possible. From the beginning until the Falcon pickup, including manoeuvring around the building with the Zealot in it.
Fun times.

Added the metatag. Be nice to play some Firefight or campaign with people sometime. I've yet to do any kind of multiplayer stuff before Score Attack, which is hardly "multiplayer".

For those failing, are you landing on top of the elite or behind him? Because every time I pulled off the assassination and didn't get the achievement, I was above him. Then one time I landed on him and didn't pull off the assassination, but lived. Finally when I got the achievement I was well behind him and thought I was going to miss when the animation kicked in. So maybe if you're too close to above him it thinks you're going to live or something, or you have to pull off the animation when you're closer to the ground.

Yeah, you definitely need to be behind him.
If you're falling down directly on top of him, more often than not you're killing him from the fall and not from the melee.

I had the same thing happen to me.
Unfortunately, it looks like you have to re-do the entire Pillar of Autumn mission with scoring disabled in order to see the credits. I tried disabling scoring and restarting Lone Wolf, but the ending movie is actually attached to the Pillar of Autumn mission instead. It sucks, I know. Wish I had known this going in.

You can start at Rally Point Bravo on Pillar of Autumn and get the ending as long as scoring is off. Also, since there's no difference in the Legendary ending, you can do it on easy or normal.
So, the Juggernaut is always on fire, can't even toggle this. And even the "Good Camo" goes to shit the moment you move faster than a brisk tip toe.

There are a few things about this game that I'm surprised at for being such a high profile game. I'm only about half way, but so far I've noticed things like human characters mouths not animating during talking scenes, a la late 90s head bobbing to signify speech. Skully-Mc-Skull face's skull is there during cutscenes, but it vanishes during gameplay. On Tip of the Spear when you are in the chopper ridding the gun at least on Legendary difficulty shit can shoot you outside of the game's render range. That's right shit is shooting at you before the game even renders it, so you just see shots coming at you out of the ether.
Were you playing co-op on the same console by any chance? Thats the only time I noticed most of those problems, which I wrote off as performance sacrifices to keep the framrate decent.
Playing alone on the console I've had no prob, Emile's Skull carving is just fine, everyone flaps their lips, etc.

I was, so are you saying that when you are not playing splitscreen co-op that characters mouths animate, the helmet skull doesn't disappear between scenes, and shit doesn't shoot at you outside of the games render range?

Yup. The game has to make some sacrifices to play split-screen co-op, unfortunately. Thats also why S.S.Co-Op is only 2 people, unlike system line/online Co-Op's 4 people.

Welcome to the reason why more games don't do split-screen co-op. The lack of mouth animation is a little odd (that's definitely not a problem in SP, though it's not exactly stellar lip syncing)
Yeah, the engine struggles with rendering the full game more than once, so it reduces polycount, some textures, render distance - it sucks but it's supposed to make for a smoother game. Of course, the framerate is jacked to shit anyway, though...

The first 2 things I mentioned are minor quibbles, I don't understand why they don't just always render the skull texture though, but the whole render range thing is a bit more pathetic and unacceptable. I understand the issue, but it's not fun playing a game where things kill you and you can't see them even if you zoomed in on them because their fire range is further than the render range of the game. My boyfriend and I had to play that section of the game by using the enemy tracer/plasma fire to triangulate where they are. At one point he was just sweeping his gun and firing at empty space and racking up kills.

You can only do so much with 512 mb of unified system and texture memory.
That does sound bad though with the render distances. I'm sure Bungie pushed the 360 as far as it could go, but sadly it seems we've hit the upper limit of its capability.
So I saw the other day someone showed a real easy way to get a million points in firefight on matchmaking. But when you do matchmaking, doesn't it join you up with strangers? Is there anyway to do matchmaking in firefight, but be all by myself?
you can get the million points achievement in a custom firefight game. Just give yourself infinite health, infinite rocket ammo with a bottomless clip, unlimited waves, and make all the baddies elites and hunters.

I didn't have that problem with 4-player/2-system system link co-op.
Did having the extra processor help that much?

There's a real easy way to get that. Just go to popular downloads/gametypes or whatever it is and download the 1,000,000 pts in 10 minutes gametype. Then just run a solo game. Unlike the challenges, it doesn't require you to use matchmaking.

Huh, I saw noticable object pop in, but can't say I ever saw things firing at me from beyond draw distance, even on the Tip of The Spear section you mentioned. Didn't notice whether the skull texture was there or not, honestly, didn't look at him a lot (Was more engrossed in Carter's sexy helmet)
