How do you edit a gametype once you create it? Also which is the weakest scoped rifle? I'm making a new gametype called Bullets-N-Blades that's just basically melee weapons and weak rifles, kind of like Scouts-N-Knives in old school CS.
I figured, but still, it looks worse than anything in ODST.
ODST only ever had to worry about a maximum of 2 players in splitscreen, though.
This is why you don't see 4 player that much anymore.. developers don't want their game to look 'ugly' so they avoid it.
You could do 4 player splitscreen online no problem in all of the Halo games. I just havnt seen graphics that were so obviously bland in ay of them until we tried Reach today. We're talking basically untextured polygons only 40 or 50 ft away.
This is very fun. This is only an initial opinion, but as of right now, my favorite Halo.
Anyhow, opinions on the pistol? My initial impressions are that it is almost always inferior to the assault rifle.
They've definitely made it a weapon that feels like a secondary. It's inaccurate as fuck, and unless you're 10 feet from the other guy you're better off with something else.
Good for finishing someone off if their shields are down, though, so it has its uses.
Love the pistol.
I always switch to it at the start of the match. I've never been a fan of the assault rifle.
Weakest scoped 'rifle' is the magnum, followed by the DMR and the Needle Rifle which are equivalent.
Also to edit it you go down to "Game Options", and while looking at the options you press X to save it.
Thanks, so I have created and uploaded my gametype to the fileshare. Now what? Is there a specific thing I have to do to get it on the main gametype pool, server, whatever, how do I know if people are downloading it, and all that junk? This is the first gametype I've ever made so I want to know all those kinds of details. Are people able to search for it now that it is in my fileshare?
Bullets-N-Blades, look for it. I put in a handful of tag words too.

Think of it like YouTube. You've uploaded, titled and tagged - if enough people find it and it gets popular, Bungie might use it in Matchmaking - but it's unlikely, as the only one that's done that before is Grifball.

I'm pretty sure halo three capped it at two players per xbox, I would assume odst is the same.

Halo 1/2/3 all supported 4 players on one Xbox, for online mode. Offline was only two players on one box however.

By online do you mean competitive multiplayer, and by offline, campaign co-op? Because yeah, that's the pattern Halo has taken for all four so far (with the exception of Halo 1, which didn't have online but did have LAN play). That Reach supports four player local is kind of crazy.
EDIT: Also today's daily challenges are up. There's one that requires you to get 17 kills in one match, but I think it's broken and actually allows you to get them cumulatively.

Honestly, I hope to hear Badwrong's opinion after he picks it up over everybody else, as his opinions on past Halo's is with mine.
Played alot last night. I'm rather impressed. Again its not the best shooter by an means, but its high on features and very solid. Most importantly its very fun. I had zero fun with Halo 2 and 3... first was was ok.
A friend and I did run into a pretty idiotic thing with the game though... I've had my 360 for a while and its got a huge HDD, my friend however just got his and its the newer model. He was stupid and got no hard drive. Sooooooo.... you cannot play online co-op if someone doesnt have a hard drive, reason being is the replays (or forge as its been labeled). Yes my friend should go get a damn hard drive anyway, but for a game that brags about having ALL the features in the world, the option to turn off replays and play online co-op should be a real simple concept.
Same as you I've always thought of Halo as "meh"... Reach doesn't give me this feeling at all. Its fun and well made, the only big issue so far was the hard drive thing... and again my friend is a cheap tard who should buy a HDD. Now the game doesn't make me feel like a Halo fanatic or anything, I still like my PC shooters hands-down.... but as you said, all your friends from Monday Night Combat are on this, so its by no means a bad game so I would go for it.
Thank god for Arena. I went from carrying my team (+20 K/D and losing ftl) in my qualifiers to everybody having nearly 0 K/D in the ranked games.

This game is pretty fun. I've only tried matchmaking and some firefight, and I'm glad for my purchase. The pistol actually seems USABLE now by the way. In Halo 3 the only usefulness it had was pairing it with a weapon that dropped shields. Also, is CTF Hemmorrhage in BTB?
Now for two complaints. Pro mode, and Classic mode, should not be in Reach. Usually when I'm in a playlist, I see one pro mode, one classic mode, and one regular mode on a shitty map. I want the Reach experience, I don't want the Halo 3 experience by going into classic. Also, I'd like to use the AA's in all game modes, and I hate Pro for only giving you DMR or Needle Rifle for weapons. I think if you look around on the map you might find new weapons, but the complaint is more for the disappearence of AAs.
I thought people would catch on to the Hologram trick, but man if you shoot that sucker out everyone shoots it. Makes it easy to spot people with sniper :P

To be fair, you can throw it out and have the hologram run a pretty good distance. I think it'll sucker people for a looong time.
Question for you pros, though. Bullets do go through it, right? . Stupid question it feels like, buut..

No it takes the bullets and the damage I believe
Also word on the street is that this time Bungie Employees have blue flaming helmets to differentiate themselves this time
Played a couple of guys with the flaming heads last night. Made it my duty to hunt them down ahead of everyone else.
I was disappointed when I saw them in action. They should look..I dunno..cooler somehow. Made me glad the Legendary was sold out at the Best Buy I went to.

Me and 4 friends were playing some slayer last night actually and we all went holo. it's fun running with 8 spartans charging the enemies
We were playing Invasion Slayer on Paradiso and the Elites were sniping on the very top mountain peak. I think it was me and JonnyChopsocky. We charged the top of the hill with our holos. Fyre said it was the storming of Iwojima and I lost my shit. I forgot how much fun I could have playing an online game. There is always something awesome to play.

Pro gets a pass from me because it's a good way to rack up some assassinations.
I really don't get the point of Classic though.
e: Also when are the games against the Bungie team?
I'm glad there is a separate thread for this. I don't plan on touching Single-player until my Xbox Live Gold runs out in November.
I didn't play Reach beta, but I have been doing surprisingly well. It certainly seems like the Matchmaking is WORKING this time and I'm matched with similar people
Okay, so instead of buying everything in the Armory, I'm now saving all my credits for the EVA helmet and black visor mod, because I just really want to see how badass that looks.

From my experience it would seem bullets just pass right through them. I thought people would figure out to just ignore holograms as well, but I guess its just too tempting to shoot at an easy target just in case its a real person.
And I thought I could choose who it would recommend to. But it recommended to EVERYONE. And the image name is kinda spoiler I guess? So if you got a file recommendation from me and haven't beaten the game yet, dont click it. That would be irresponsible. On your part. Because I blame you.

Hahah. Why are the people who play this so stupid? I have the Halo 2 logo next to my name and I joined a game. It took about 20 seconds into the game for people to ask why I had it. I said nothing. Everyone then decided that I was a dev that made the game and they started asking my crap.
O fcourse the simplest answer to the logo is that I'm one of the few people who made the game and not that I'm some sucker who went onto Bungie's site and selected the logo.
I don't know, if you're not informed then I could see it going either way. It's pretty bold to make the assumption of idiocy based upon another assumption.

So in theory: yes
in practice: probably just easier to look at the page once a day and ctrl-c
actually, could meet it halfway until i upgrade my hosting and just download the entire page once a day.
