Release Notes - Volume III, Book 2, Patch 1

    Release Notes

    General
Several references to the Lorebook within the game have been updated to read “MyLOTRO” instead of “Lorebook”. Clicking on the “MyLOTRO” button on the radar ring will now take you to your MyLOTRO page and provide access to all Community Sites from directly within the game.
Characters who logged out while in the Fornost or Great Barrow instances before Volume III, Book 2 went live can now log in again.
You should no longer see an interior map from an area you have left while out in the world.

    Dynamic Layering
Players in the Archet and Ered Luin starting areas can now transfer to the same layer as their fellowship leaders.
Players will no longer experience multiple teleports when switching to Dynamic Layers.
Teleporting between Housing areas and Dynamic Layers now works properly.

    Classes

    Captain
The Captain’s Armaments for the Man-at-arms, the Squire and the Pilgrim will now allow the summoning of Heralds of Hope and Victory instead of always summoning Heralds of War.

    Champion
The Champion legacy that increases Critical Damage magnitude will now affect the second and third attacks for all skills.

    Skirmishes
All daily quests have had their minimum bestowal levels correctly set.

    The Ettenmoors (PvMP)
Tomes of Deed Acceleration no longer advance monster play kill deeds.

    Raids & Instances
Leave Instance now works correctly for session players.
In certain cases the instance, "Rise of the Fallen Son" could not be completed. This has been corrected.
The Blind One, Zholuga, and Nornan somehow opened up the cabinet with the bag of extra-steroid-infused Monster Chow. We've installed child-proof locks on the cabinet, so the Blind One, Zholuga, and Nornan are back to their old selves. Or, to put it another way:
Reduced the Damage-over-Time effects in the Turtle Raid to their previous values.
Reduced the effects “Virulent Contagion” & “Paralyzing Contagion” in Dar Narbugud to their previous values.

    Haudh Iarcith
The door to the epic area now requires a minimum level of 45 to open.
Westernesse protection has been removed from several monsters.
    Addressed an incorrect loot assignment.
Spawn timers on the bosses have been dramatically reduced.

    Great Barrow: Thadur
Removed some adds from the boss fight.
The Challenge quest should now work properly.

    Great Barrow: Sambrog
Adds will now correctly clear when the boss resets.

    Great Barrow: Maze
The challenge quest now correctly fails when the fight is reset.

    Helegrod: Drake Wing
Deeds will now correctly update while you are in a raid.

    Helegrod: Spider Wing
Deeds will now correctly update while you are in a raid.
The deed, “Zaudru's Brood” now requires 100 kills.

    Items
The set bonus on the level 65 Armour of the Aurochs Hunter set has been fixed to properly reduce the cooldown of “Penetrating Shot” when all 6 pieces are equipped.
The level 65 Annúminas armor will no longer accept dyes as the armor does not support them.
“Map to Thorin's Hall” will no longer play a cinematic when used.
The deed “Helegrod -- Drake Wing” no longer advertises the deed acceleration item. This deed cannot be accelerated.
Novice's Mark will no longer conflict with the run speed perks purchased from the Destiny Panel or the LOTRO Store.
Fixed some auto-consumed skill-granting items that were not setup to auto-consume if the player was mounted when purchasing them from the LOTRO Store.
The “Veteran Esquire's Heavy Mail” had its name accidentally changed to “Veteran Recruit's Heavy Mail” and its level reduced to 27. This item now has the correct name and its level increased to 37.
“Comagol”, a “Rangers of Esteldin” kindred rep sword, now has a “Rangers of Esteldin” faction requirement instead of “Wardens of Annúminas”

    Town Services
Vendors that sell steeds no longer repair items.

    Wardrobe
Items with unique color palettes can now be cosmetically equipped from the wardrobe correctly.

    Quests
In Volume I, Book 1 Chapter 11, you are no longer able to interrupt the scene with Sambrog while he's talking.
In Volume I, Book 3 Chapter 5, you will no longer see the message, “Drukordh has been defeated!”, until you've actually defeated him

Level 22 on Rosepint last night. I am greatly enjoying my new 3 attacks gambit I just picked up. Ive been quite a masochist though and completed all of the newb zone deeds that i could find. For the most part they where ok, with the exceptions of those damn eagles in dwarf land, sickle flyes in man land and wolves. The reports of wolves in the old forest are greatly exaggerated.

Im glad you can clear a section and get the buggers to spawn, just wish there was a guaranteed minimum of spawns, it would cut down on a lot of this tediousness.

A good example would be the slugs in the hobbit area. East side of the swamp was literally all midges thanks to slug farming and frogs for a quest in the area. Did one sweep and killed all the midges and HALF of the re-spawn was slugs. I don't know if these issues are due to the high level players sweeping through for deeds or if its just the natural result of questing of which is the cause of old forest's wolf woes.

Has anything changed in the last year or so for legendary book traits (the ones you have to grind 39+ mobs for pages for?) Can I just kill tons of 39+ mans from a certain area and get all the pages, or should I move around? I got 5-6 pages in Misty Mountains yesterday (for my Champ, so those books).

Kinda sad that he's almost 60 and have yet to get these done :)

Each book requires you to collect 8 pages, and of the 8 pages, it is split into two groups of 4.

For the first 4 pages of any book, they are acquired in Misty Mountains / Ferochel
For the last 4 pages of any book, they are acquired in Angmar / Eregion

So for example if you are grinding all 3 books at once for your character, then you can get 12 pages in Misty Mountains, another 12 pages in Angmar, and be all done.

Also to note, the more pages you have collected, the longer the next page takes, since the chances that the theoretical page the mob drops is one you have already collected increases.

Are there good farming spots for these areas? For the Misty Mts, I was killing goblins up around that pond (Mirror pond?, sort of NE area past a pass of some kind). Preferably lots of lower level guys that I can group up and AOE smash :D

For Misty Mountains, I like to walk up and down the north slope/stairs by Helegrod to kill Hillmen, since they drop pages and are also advancing the Man Racial Deeds.

For a heavier concentration of spawns, there is Goblin Town. Lots and lots of goblins, easily killed 1 or 2 at a time, and you can run around to gather a train if you want to go AOE crazy.

Angmar has lots of towns etc full of hillmen / angmarim as well as orc camps and what not. Same with eregion. Only difference is angmar is for low to mid 40's for west side, and high 40's for east side, and Eregion is all high 40s to low 50s.

If only Turbine would remove the cooldown for drinking them and at the very least let cooks make stacks of them. A one week cooldown on making a single drink that only boosts LI xp by 15% for one hour is pretty silly.

Actually, the coins for the final two pieces drop from the Watcher. You can get 4/6 of your set and 2 non-set rad items from Moria. However, you might as well move on to the 25 rad and 15 rad sets from the Lothlorien and Barad Guldur instances.

The best place to farm pages for MM is the book quest with Gimli where you storm the Dourhand fort. You get constant mobs, and since they're sigs/elites you get better drops. Plus if you run solo, you have the inspired greatness buff the whole time.

Someone commented that 'inspiration is a helluva drug' and I have to agree. Walking around as a minstrel being an ENGINE OF DEATH is quite fun. Seriously makes me want to do the solo versions of all the book quests just to play god for a short bit.

Also, Ivar in GA is a total jerk, easily harder than the rest of the GA bosses or the worms in GB. EASILY. Bringing a captain as a tank (if they are really really good at aggro control) or as the DPS (if they're just designed for buffing) makes a HUGE difference though. Ivar's difficulty is in all the debuffs he throws out, on top of his massive dread. And yes I know you can counter some of those debuffs by killing his banners, but the challenge for him is to NOT kill the banners. Doesn't help that with the debuffs he can kill me in two hits even at 36 in good gear, so the tank can't afford to lose aggro period.

Now to decide if I'm going to sit around lone lands to finish EVERYTHING or just move on to the trollshaws and do the OCD completionist thing later.

Also: fuck the trees, gotta be the most heavily farmed thing I've seen so far.

The trick for the fly's is to actually get on the plateau north-east of Archer as suggested by a kinsman (cant remember who said it). There was no one there when i went up in the middle of the day. After I cleared the spawns i started getting fly's pretty regularly, not to mention 150 Ash logs. There were a ton of untapped minerals as well.

And tree's, i didn't have any problem with tree's whatsoever. But i was killing the ones that don't auto attack you. Maybe my timing was better?

Quite a few. About 6 or 8 quests. Most are full fellowship, but there are some 3-mans.

    No, just book 1.

I don't think there are any group quests in book 1, but there are tons of group quests total in the volume 2 epic. In fact, 2.5.5 alone has THREE fellowship quests.

Sorry, I thought you mean the whole Volume 2. But Htown is right.

We should go back to Fil-Gashan. When we went there for Rione's captain quest, it looked like a lot of fun. Fighting inside a mess hall of some orky fortress, on top of tables filled with bloody ork food, while an Ork cook/boss is hitting you with frying pans, was a lot of fun. We should do it again.

You might want to check your bags. Some time ago (3-6 months ago) horses were changed to a skill. If your character is very old, you might have a mount token in your bags. You need to click on it, to add the horse to your skills. Otherwise, you might have the skill already, check "mount" panel in your character sheet.
