Hardware for converting old VHS Home Videos to DVD

Okay, I've got maybe a dozen or so VHS tapes that are from my childhood that I'd like to get onto DVDs before they crumble into dust. I use a Mac so I'm looking for a way I can record into my computer or onto a external HDD that I can then drop into iMovie and do a bit of minor editing with.

I have a Pyrvo AV Analog to Digital Convertor, but I find that it drops out whenever the tape has a blank area on it, so walking away to let it record a up-to 6 hour tape would sometimes result in my returning to only find the first hour or so recorded.

So anyone have any tips on what I should grab?

They host several tutorials to do this. If you feel you need help, their forum can help you too.

    Good luck
