Just dug some of my old cardboard 3d glasses out. They look super classy, as they're from Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3D. So they aren't just the plain white cardboard ones. But they're actually sturdier than others I've seen. Anyway, moral of the story is Holy Shit.

The effect isn't perfect.. I'd really like it if it projected the crosshair to whatever distance the tile it's currently on is, instead of having it at zero depth like the rest of the interface, and every once in a while it'll ghost a little bit.

But.. Wow. That's the way to play. If any of you have any glasses laying around.. Seriously, give it a shot.

Water is awesome, as is looking up through that tiny hole at the far end of my cave that like 2 squares of sky shows through. There were quite a few other "Holy crap, that's awesome," moments too. This is definitely the way I'll be playing from now on.

Just out of interest, is your world really dull. I just tried with a new pair of red/blue glasses or red/cyan, not sure ... and apart from the fact that i can still see ghosting of one of the colours, everything is really desaturated. It's not very good at all. I have to admit i ignored the 3d glasses craze when it came out, so maybe eveything was like this and that's why it fizzled out, but i'm certainly not getting any WOW factor. It's barely playable to be honest, for example i can hardly tell the difference between a pig and a sheep without focusing on it for a few seconds.

Maybe i need to calibrate the monitor or something? I want 3d minecraft!

Yeah, I tried it once and while the 3d effect was neat the change in color was too much of a pain to continue using it.

    2 things.

    1) Game could use shields, specifically to block projectiles (arrows).

    2) No clue if this was mentioned, but those of you with Android phones might want to check out Minecraft Canary. It's a reference app for Minecraft. Rather handy.

But it seems like Notch is pretty good about making things options instead of standard features. I do like the idea of joining a server and fighting the good fight with other PAers against a zombie/creeper apocalypse, so long as I can create my own server where I can play a multiplayer version of the game with less aggressive monsters.

I am utterly enthralled by the idea of building a massive citadel, having it invaded and ruined, and then coming back much later to pick through the ruins and perhaps rebuild.

Yeah, I can see things like crushing or drowning traps. I would really love to see trap doors in the floor. Or really for anything to work off of redstone aside from door, redstone torches and track switches. And I guess TNT too if it weren't so difficult to make.

Opening shafts in the ceiling to drop lava would be fantastic.

I was digging down deep exploring this cavern last night and I kept hearing zombies. I was afraid to dig anywhere I then broke into this deep cavern that had iron deposits up near the top so I just torched the upper area and started mining. kept hearing those zombies but couldnt see them.

anyone know if it is possible for a creeper to be set off if you are standing directly up against the wall, and there is only one block between you and them?

    if so, sheeeeeeeeeeit
From stories I've read on here: definitely yes.

We're still establishing how much distance you need. After you kill that creeper and refill the crater he leaves, you might consider either making thicker glass walls (2x or 3x blocks thick) or putting fencing around the outside of your house that keeps things 2 or 3 blocks back.

Yeah, as far as I know they need to be within 1 square, so your walls will keep them from popping.

What you do to get rid of them is get a Bow and some arrows. Either pop a hole in your wall to fire through and kill them, or go up on your roof (or the second story I see there) and do the same.

Bows are critical to taking care of creepers.

Creative gives you an infinite amount of blocks so that you can build whatever.

In Survival, you have to collect your own materials and (optionally) avoid monsters.

In numpad layout, with 789 at the top and 123 at the bottom:

Bow requires three string (only from killing spiders) and three sticks. String at 3, 6, and 9, sticks at 2, 4, and 8.

Arrows require flint, chicken feathers, and sticks. Feather at 2, stick at 5, flint at 8.

    Pants are 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9. Shoes are 1, 3, 4, 6.

Treasure chest is a box (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 -- every square except the middle) made of wood. Furnace is that same box but made of stone. Fuel the forge with wood (lumber, not raw tree trunk) or coal.

Door is 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8. Made of wood or iron ore. Iron ore version needs a button or switch or pressure plate to open it.

Half step is 1, 2, and 3 made of cobblestone.
