Suda 51 and shinji mikami on the game. It's nice to hear that mikami has some involvement with the gameplay.

    http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/08/shadows-of-the-damned-preview/

But the most important thing is clearly this.
As the interview concluded, the subject turned to another violent, quirky action game from Mikami: 2006's God Hand -- a title that Mikami burst into laughter upon hearing. Mikami firmly denied even a superficial relationship between his own PS2 action game and Shadows of the Damned, but he did tell us that "I'd like to make a sequel to God Hand sometime." When we suggested he could make a spiritual "sequel" to get around the Capcom-owned IP, Mikami laughed again and said "Someday, I'll do it."

Tank controls like RE4 but you seem to need to do a lot of melee using these tank controls. Counter balanced by the fact that enemies take forever to attack you even when they are close to you. I really like the style of the game but the gameplay is disapointing.

I took that as the player playing it being crazy?

It seems like you can definitely shoot them but he repeatedly tried to melee for whatever reason.

The gameplay is being handled by mikami so I'm not too worried.

I'm going with RE4 meets Pan's Labyrinth here.

Love the environments but the minimap there is awfully sobering. If that's what's to be expected, we may not need the map at all.

Well, I tend to purchase supposedly amazing games with cool characters, and have trouble getting into them. I've probably gave up and restarted The Witcher, 5 or six times so far. I couldn't enjoy God of War and Gears of War for similar reasons.

As horrible as this sounds: the main dude is just too ugly for me to empathize with.
It's incredibly shallow, but it's an existing barrier for me.

This game would probably be no different.
I'm sorry for the rant, I just had to get that out there. It's been bouncing around in my noggin forever.

nah, I'm not saying I prefer games with only pretty folks in them.
I just have a low tolerance for the hideous and extreme, as main characters.
It's the same reason I can't get into Rob Liefeld's comics.

Well, the protagonist will certainly stand out, at least. He's gotten a certain level of grime to him you don't see a whole lot in gaming. Even Travis Touchdown, whom he carries a suspicious resemblance in some ways, is pretty plastic in appearance.

Garcia looks like he could use a shower. Not a look a lot of characters pull off. Kratos, the many-time dead guy covered in the ashes of his family looks squeaky clean. He doesn't look like he's covered in ash. He just looks smooth, gray, and pouty. The Gears of War guys go through hell all the time but generally are plastic and hygenic-looking.

IGN has a big write-up on this. Two main takeaways:

    1. It plays a lot like Resident Evil 4.
    2. At certain points, demon pubes block your progress.

    Yes, you read that right.

So... EA just sent me an e-mail saying that I should pre-order this game. I was a bit skeptic about, specially considering it was the first time hearing about this game... But then I saw the trailer and was like "what the eff is going on in this trailer and why does it makes me want to play this game!?"

It's apparently coming out later this month, anyone else getting this? Enthusiasm seems to have died off.
