Ho boy finally got this installed and updated but I know i'm going to have issues with getting through char creation. Any translation guides out there for it?

So, anyone playing the beta actually able to read japanese?

Is the story of the game in any meaningful way related to PSO?

Looking at that gallery (and others screens from the past and pso-world) I imagine that this will be all consuming for me like PSO was, so hopefully there's some time before it comes to the states (I don't care if it hasn't been announced, its coming) so I can get other things in life done.

Nope! But I'm installing the english patch so we'll see.

English patch doesn't translate any of the story -- only some menus. If it's the same one I have, that is!

the english patch we're all using probably isn't gonna translate the story stuff until all of the interface is done with, which i appreciate since i'm not very interested in the story to begin with... part of what i loved about PSO was how vague everything was

I think the servers just went down. Which sucks because I just spent the last 45 minutes making my awesome Cat/Hume/Hunter/Idol and now some error message comes up when I try to play.

Maintenance started about 40 minutes ago I believe. Think it's supposed to last about four hours today.

I guess it doesn't really matter. What matters (to me) is if the visuals and music evoke similar feelings PSO does/did. Graphics look great; I need to hear some musics. Or I need a beta invite and jump through the hoops to get an account or whatever to see myself.

EDIT: That took all of like 2 minutes of watching a few videos on youtube to see that yep. I need this. God I need this. Why did I go watch videos? It hasn't even been announced for the states.

I'm not gonna lie, I got a bit misty listening to some of the music in the game (so far) and watching some gameplay videos.

I actually enjoyed PSU but fuck this makes me sorta angry that we had to put up with that between PSO and this.

A phase, I think -- next will be "open beta", which I hear your characters will all just transfer from open to full game, so "open beta" may as well be full release. Later this summer.

So, the combat is still "room to room" in this game? Like, clear out an area of enemies and move on to the next?

Edit: How about MAGs? Are there a wide variety of MAGs in game so far?

The Japanese capcha thing is killing me. I've got a list of full width katakana right here and I know I've got the right ones but keeps telling me I don't.

I used the windows language bar to input those characters. There's an option to draw a character and it gives you a list to select and when you select it, it automatically places it. Also, make sure there are no spaces.

Ok, got my account made, registered for the beta, and am on the players site. I looked back on the past few pages and I didn't see anyone post a link to a guide to download and/or set up the english menus and whatnot.

according to neogaf (via google, I don't have an account there) the beta should go to saturday:

Make sure you are fully patched first, then swap out the files in the appropriate directory with the ones in the zip file. It translates a good amount of the in game menus so you can do stuff like character creation and play the game. The subtitles and such are not translated.
