I'm really excited since this seems to be the spirtual sucessor to Burnout 3 and Takedown. I enjoyed Paradise, but I prefer my racing to be more focused. Looking forward to some of the team modes online, since those were a blast.
Hopefully the network code is up to par. I don't want to be seeing cars teleporting all over the place when I race online.
Pretty sure Dice helped them out with their multiplayer. I noticed their name in the demo during the opening credits. EA likes to whore them out now it seems. They did Medal of Honor multi too.
Just saw some previews; this game looks hooooooot.
I was reading the IGN review in my lunch break and I saw a gorgeous shot of two cars crossing a bridge with the sun setting and I just about broke down in tears of joy.
The caption was something like 'Yes, it does look this good'.

Given what you just said, how is this in any way a good thing?
Also Jaunty--unnavigable menus? Were you not using a controller?
I saw an Xplay special on this - I didn't realize Criterion was behind this, that's amazing. The reviews rolling in are really high, I wouldn't have even noticed this game without the Xplay special, which is pretty abnormal for me
They worked alright with the KB but the AM part wasn't used at all.
Everyone should have Xbox 360 controllers if they're using Windows, though. It's just a good idea.
The PC port of Burnout: P did allow you to use the mouse to click the tiny F1/F2 buttons on the top right hand corner. But the UI was unresponsive and finicky when used with the mouse so that was horrible anyway.
Was the demo on the 360 a timed demo? I can't for the life of me find the damn thing. I even checked the xbox site and all it has as far as downloads are two videos.

Yes it was. Went to play it on my PS3 and it told me it had expired. Then it played a non skippable commercial.
Holy shit... I played this game for a little bit. Color me fucking impressed! Seriously the music that plays when you're the cop vs the racers is epic! Feels just like a movie!
This may be one of the first racing games I enjoy since Burnout Revenge!

No, originally I was kb+m
hardly ideal for a racer I know, the situation has been rectified

Yeah, I thought it was a dumb move. With glowing reviews coming out, you think people may want to try out the demo that normally would not have had interest in it.
Is there any word on a Steam release for this game yet? I bought Burnout: Paradise before they announced a Steam release and always regretted not having it on there where my friends list is.
I am sorely tempted to snap up the limited edition of this while I can because I want that GT500. On the other hand, I'm worried about how this game will perform on my system and I'm offended that EA released a demo for every version but the PC, which smacks of a CYA or an intentional slap in the face. I'm also somewhat distressed by the fact a Steam version hasn't yet appeared...

You want to play Split/Second.
Trust me on this one.

Yes great race music in that one! Also Need for Speed: Most Wanted had really good cop chase music too. I want a music collection of just that type of music I just don't know what it is specifically called.

This is a correct man.
Also we gonna start listing EA account names/tags whatever in the OP? I need dudes to play against.
Just to let everyone know, if you're both willing to wait a little before you get the game and are willing to deal with Black Friday shenanigans. Most stores(Target, Best Buy, K-Mart, etc) are going to be selling this game at around $30-$35 during that time. Be sure to double check with a specific store of course.
Welp, broke down and pre-ordered the PC limited edition from Direct2Drive (which makes me feel sort of dirty and uncomfortable all over but you forced me to do it, Steam). Figure I should be able to get by on medium settings, and if not, I've been spending an unhealthy amount of time arranging various fanciful permutations on ibuypower lately...

Man I am trying to get out of the coupon hold that Kmart has me in. I have on last $10 coupon which is almost nothing on a full price game. But if I were to brave Kmart on Black Friday I could get the game for $25? I have never done a Black Friday....

Braving Black Friday for one game? No way I would do that. Picking up the PS3 version in the afternoon today.
Soo....
From the reviews and videos I've seen, is this just a NFS version of Burnout, or is it like a completely different game?
Does it play the same as burnout, or more like the traditional NFS games. (Hot Pursuit on Gamecube was one of my favs)
I'm not a fan of the over the top arcadey feel of burnout (although it was a good game)
It's not over the top crazy crashes going a billion miles an hour like burnout though. it does have crashes, and you do go fast, but it's more "realistic." also, the races aren't choose your own route, they are set routes with possible shortcuts. there is a free roam mode that lets you drive wherever though.
I consider Most Wanted to be the best in the series and if this game is a bit more of that sans upgrades then great. Although I'll going slow-mo through car road blocks.
I'm in the camp where I thought Burnout Paradise was wrong by making the whole game open world. Set tracks are where its at for arcade racing.

It's good to see some strong reviews on it.
Also is the Autolog gonna be system exclusive or across all three?

burned out?
Oh ho ho! That wasn't intentional, but totally works.
