Is the OST really only for pre-orders from NISA's online store? I have a distrust of publisher-specific stores, after hearing tales of others' experiences with Capcom's store.

I've bought a number of games from NISA and never had a problem
That's so weird. I can pre-order it anywhere else and have been able to for months.

I think this is usually what NIS does - they only take pre-orders a bit in advance. I have ordered from them before though and didn't have any problems. That and I'm pretty sure they do free shipping now so there is always that.
I can vouch for NIS being reliable when it comes to preorders. I ordered Disgaea 2 from them, and wasn't disappointed.
Man, you must not have been in the fiasco of the D2 ultimate edition pre-order. The one with the limited art book and guide. That was such a huge clusterfuck. Luckily that opened their eyes to just how crazy their orders can get, and I don't think they've ever experienced anything like it again.
I received notice that I can pre-order the $120 uber edition through tomorrow.
Problem is, as much as I would like to... I just can't throw $120 at a Disgaea game. I'll take a $79 special edition, tops.
It isn't worth it considering the figures are pretty lame and not that great in terms of quality. At least you still get Fuka at $60 along with the other stuff. It would have been nice if Fuka was a nendoroid like NISA mistakenly said the first time around.

Wasn't that for Disgaea 3 along with the stupid random extra that ranged from crap to something worthwhile?

No 2 came with a little mini-artbook, the doublejump guide, the comic, and some other stuff. The thing was that there were only a few hundred of the art books, and when orders started Rosenqueen went down from the load. But doublejump started selling the same bundle. They started selling more than were available, so then they had to send out e-mails saying "Numbers under this order number get the book." It was a disaster.
Oh yeah. I remember that. That was fucking stupid planning on both sides. I think something similar happened later on with another game, but I can't remember what it was.
Santa Ana, Calif. (July 14, 2011) – NIS America announced today that Disgaea® 4: A Promise Unforgotten will have minor restrictions in the Map Edit mode due to certain regulations.
“Regarding Disgaea 4's map edit system, regulation differences between regions made it very
difficult to keep in. However, thanks to all the help from our development team and SCEA, we
were able to keep the system by making just some minor design adjustments. Players won't be
able to create a completely detailed map, but this new system is still a great way to expand the
Disgaea universe and share your own creations with players around the nation,” says NIS America
producer Jack Niida.
NIS America promises that even with these small modifications to the map editing system, the
game will still feature the same undeniable fun and addictive gameplay. Also, there are more
features that utilize the PlayStation®Network, such as the Pirate Creation system, that will allow
players to further experience the incredibly deep Disgaea gameplay with other users.
Map Editing adjustments:
-Instead of individual blocks to create maps, a number of preset “landforms” will be available for
users to create their own maps.
-Multiples of the same object, not including geo blocks or characters, cannot be placed next to or
on top of each other.
-Character/map names and descriptions will be randomized.
I heard about that, and at first I thought it made no sense, but looking at the adjustments I think I get it. They have absolutely nobody to regulate incoming maps. That's not a difference in regulation between regions (like it's a cultural thing which is what that implies), that's a business thing. Look at all the changes. They're all things to prevent offensive words and maps that are giant dicks shooting snow platforms. So I guess I'm okay with it, but I think it's really lame.
Apparently there's a prequel DLC campaign that's pretty awesome.
Covering Valvatorez when he was still a psychotic murdering Tyrant Overlord. Remembering that they apparently reserve the term "Tyrant Overlord" for Overloards that are on Baal's power level...
Getting the $60 one. BTW I'm somewhat impressed with the pricing model for D4. Far more than above average length retail game in a well-established franchise and the base version is only $50.
The price structure feels backwards, to be honest. Most games are "You can have just the game for regular price, or pay more for all these bonuses". With D4 it's more like "You can have the game and all these bonuses for regular price, or pay less for just the game.".
I usually don't go for special editions, but in this case I don't see any reason not to. Pretty awesome way to do it.
"The sausage of Green Earth explodes with flavor like the cannon of culinary delight."
I still need to get enough people to get a game share for the D3 Super DLC Bundle going. $50 for DLC is ridiculous, but I'm pretty sure you can game share it and then 5 people could just pay $10.

The only DLC you really need is the Raspberyl arc, though.
Yeah, and I'm pretty sure we mentioned this last time I brought it up, but if we were to gameshare the bundle with enough people then for the price of all the Raspberyl stuff on your own you'd get all the DLC.

Looks like they will be starting the actual pre-order (not just the pre-order reminder) in August.
Found this info on the Disgaea 4 Product Page.

In the meantime, I just picked up Soul Nomad and the World Eaters. Anything I should know before getting into it?

edit: And I need to finish Disgaea 2.
Normal Flonne is in the game, though, right? So would it just be a re-skin?
