I've got the charge pending on my bank account now too. Also have $5 to spend on NIS now, probably going to wait a bit on that though. I don't know what they have coming out other than D4 that I'm interested in, might have to wait til Disgaea 3 on Vita.

No Cave Story 3DS for me - don't have a 3DS and don't plan on getting one. And you know somehow I've managed to never play any of the games in the Atelier series.

My charge has been processed through my bank just fine now and my order is shipping. Could be that they're doing orders based upon how far things have to go distance wise? Since I think shipping is just USPS ground and where I live is quite a ways from where NIS is in California. Also of note: I just checked on their website and my order still says pending fulfillment even though it's already shipping. So yea, I wouldn't say that status means much.

Heh. It did hit my credit card. Just now got an alert - it hit at the end of the business day yesterday. I don't have an email from NIS, though, so I can't say if it shipped out or not.
Can I be super psyched for this? I'm super psyched for this. I even put down a reserve at my local Game Stop, something I would normally find morally reprehensible (but I don't trust these hillbilly heathens to properly stock this game).
I'd take a day off of work for my first day's play if I didn't know I'm gonna end up putting 200 hours into the stupid thing anyway.
I'm pre ordering the NZ special edition, it'll be the same as other countries special editions just brought with NZ dollars in New Zealand.
I love me some prinnies, the only one I am missing is Disgaea 2. We'll see if PSN drops the price on the PSP version.

Definitely picking this up. Trying to figure out my party composition in advance, how many of the story characters I'm going to use...
Is there some non pain the ass way to level support classes in these games? Even if I have them team attack with one f my heavy hitters or try to finish off an enemy with like 50 health with whatever measly attack they have, they'll just never level as fast or as naturally as say a ninja or a samurai or something. Why even bother with them if that's the case?
Is it better to just focus on characters that simply are useful instead of constantly pampering and trying to grind ones that are useless?
Support classes get exp for using healing and support spells. Although they get it determined on the number of allies hit with the spell. Otherwise, try and use a skill to net a kill; those tend to do enough damage to finish any enemy at 1/3 health or so.
Also, later on, you can just make a character a certain class with the spells you want, learn all of them, and then reincarnate them as a better class. They will still retain all of their spells. That makes it easy enough to get everyone with a good crowd clearing grind spell (like big bang) and the major healing spells + espoir. You can also make a decent dedicated healer and buff specialist that's not in a paper-made class like Idol.
I'm starting to wonder if the inclusion of a map creation system isn't going to be completely broken as fuck. Unless it's limited to start, or uses some sort of unlocking system, then whats stopping me from creating my own custom farming maps right at the start? Historically COO4 is the ultimate exp map, but it's always post game, and behind some pretty high level maps, so it's still a grind to even get to it. But now, I'll be able to create my own, only even more tweaked out. Stack a few more +exp geos, some -def to soften them up. Hell, maybe completely surround them with a no entry geo, and then put in an invincibility square, so I don't have to worry about dying if I don't kill them in one hit. Shit, take it to the next level even, no more of these 3x3 maps that are racist to any weapon other than fists and swords, make a layout for each specific weapon and their unique attacks!
It's gotta be limited to start, right. I would absolutely love to be able to do all that right out of the box, but I can't imagine they'd let you blatantly cheat like that when you're just starting out.

So I'm playing Disgaea 2 on the PSP right now.
And...thanks to the DLC (all DLC characters are level 100 and the first character is a "free" character that doesn't require a battle to unlock) I had CoO4 unlocked before I even finished chapter 2 in the story in my first cycle.
I'm not sure what "post game" means anymore. :P
Hell, I'm not even using Adell. My main character right now is Almaz.
It seems like they've cut down on classes a bit too, no? Less male/female variants, no martial artist class, etc. Am I imagining it, or is there also none of that red/blue/green mage nonsense, so one mage (whether it's a boy or a girl) can learn all the smells without having to reincarnate a billion times?
If so, I welcome slimming things down a bit, though I will miss the boob ninja.

You unlock that class by buying Kyoko as DLC. Which i will be doing immediately on release.
Some of the new classes introduced in D3 aren't returning either, which is weird.
I don't think I've ever used even 10% of all the classes available in any game. And I've never even touched the monster classes.
D3 post game is the most ridiculous of all, especially if you include DLC. My class is almost completely filled with story characters, Diaz gentlemen, and DLC characters. The roster is overflowing as it is, I've got no need for generics.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying they're useless or anything. They do get to learn the best weapon skills, and have some great evilties.
Just saying that when it comes between choosing to use a Gunslinger or Asagi... well Asagi is winning every single time.
And funnily enough, this will probably be the first game where I might actually seriously use a prinny. Speaking of which, I wonder if Fuka will count as one when it comes to using a Prinny Day bill...

I thought the idea behind story characters is well...they're good for getting through the story--you could use only them and you'd be fine. But if you really want to get into the nuts and bolts of the system and really customize all your fighters to be exactly the team you want, then running with mostly generics and maybe the main character is more ideal.

No?
I suppose in the sense that it's infinitely easier to tweak and customize generics via reincarnation. If you want a skill, you can just reincarnate into that class and get it, no fuss no muss. You can still transfer skills to story characters, it's just a lot more work. Like in 3 where you had to do it via the class world, which didn't even bloody show up half the time.

I probably won't be able to get it until the 9th due to lack of funds (not that it would matter, anyway, with my constant work days going on from the 6th through the 9th).
There's like 35 - 40 classes included as is in Disgaea 4; so i'm not worried about the DLC characters. I figure I can justify it once I get all of the included characters to level 9999.
man, they billed me well over a week ago and still haven't shipped it.
I get the impression from all the emails and whatnot that they got an absolutely silly amount of preorders and are just a bit swamped. My UPS tracking number still says that it's just a theoretical one and they haven't given UPS the package yet.

Unless you preordered it, if so, you'll get it around Tuesday - Thursday.

I now remember why I stopped playing Disgaea 2. I kind of dislike it. I dislike the characters. I dislike the story. It's pretty annoying.
Is there any good reason I should finish it before I play Disgaea 3? I mean, Disgaea 4 is coming out in like a week, right?
I'd take a day off of work for my first day's play if I didn't know I'm gonna end up putting 200 hours into the stupid thing anyway.

Fix'd.

On that note, does anyone want a $5 off coupon for NIS America's website? I don't think I'll be using it anytime soon.

Also, with magichange, giant magichange, and monster fusion, using monster classes is actually pretty beneficial now.

Still, they have a curvy android-girl (gynoid?). What more do you want, people?
then boo

Sure, I can use it towards D4. I think.

UPS tracking numbers always say that tho.
