Does FA Flonne come with anything other than just FA Flonne? Apparently some of the DLC comes with classic class/monsters as well (Angels or Classic Dragons, for example).
All I've seen is Flonne so far. She just popped into my cam-pain map after a few battles.
She's surprisingly really good. Regular Flonne's issue is that even though she's good with bows and guns, all her specials are magic and int bases. FA has a heal spell, but everything else is all atk/hit. Gave her a bow, and she's doing pretty well for herself. She basically makes the cleric you get obsolete, since not only can she heal better, she can actually kill shit and level up.

Are you sure, I just checked and it said release date delivery does not require a signature, or are video games the exception
Either way, mailing back something after signing for it at the post office seems like a bigger hassle than just signing for it
I've screamed at Amazon for hours over this exact issue because they constantly upgrade my shipping to "release day" shipping for free and I end up having to wait an additional 3 weeks to get it because of that. In every instance they tell me and UPS tells me that signatures are required.
Sometimes the delivery driver doesn't bother with it but I live in a somewhat bad neighborhood that's been getting worse so it's happening more and more often.
The e-mails are getting rolled out throughout the day, so you should get it before end of business day PST. I'm not sure what exactly happened with the code stuff but we're working on sorting it all out ASAP.
Had a pretty solid run in the item world today. There's a part fairly early on where you're forced to go there and level an item to 10 before you can proceed with the story. The game encourages you to just use a common sword, but that would make most of the enemies too weak and the sword itself useless compared to what my guys are using now.
So I say fuck it, take the risk, and hop inside a Dragon Sword, something a bit closer to my level.
It's only in the last few levels that I start losing guys (my casters, my healer, and ultimately a few of my brawlers) so I end up using a gency on level 10 and going back in fully healed just to kill the general. Due to a level orb and a billion other bonuses including innocents, the sword is level 17 by the time I'm done and I have like 150,000 credits. My guys are all early/mid twenties and I should have all the advanced classes unlocked soon more or less. I might just skip the professor and the onmiyo monk since I don't really know what they're good for.
Oh and protip: that one evil symbol, the shoe that makes your guys move more spaces is just not worth the effort. It restricts their movement so much that it's actually harder to move them around. Not having it placed would have made things 100 times easier.
The heart cannon evil symbol is broken as fuck. I was initially confused on how it worked, but after seeing it in action... damn.
The idea is, you put 2 people in its influence, and then whenever somebody does any sort of attack or skill on an enemy, those 2 people will also perform a regular attack if they could reach that enemy. I thought this special deal was only between people in the symbol. Nope. Triggers off anybody. I put Val and Fenrich in the symbol, and move them next to some mook. Flonne shoots, and both Val and Fenrich get a free melee attack against it. Then my mage lobs a fireball at it. Val and Fen again smack it up. And this doesn't even take up their normal attack, so I can still go with them, and they'll combo off each other. Oh yeah, and these free attacks can also trigger team attacks too.
Broken as fuck. God only knows what you could pull off with a bunch of spear, gun, and bow users.

One thing to keep in mind about that is that if the Heart Cannon character attacks, and then the enemy character survives long enough to counter that attack and your character counters that counter, it will eat up that character's turn even if you didn't actually assign the HC character to attack at all. It doesn't happen often, but worth keeping an eye on.

I really wish that XP and what not was shared to the party equally not per character. Otherwise I spend way way too long grinding everyone, even if I never plan on using them.
The Disgaea series has always been about grinding. Some people actually play the entire campaign with a single character, or in some cases 2 - a single character and a healer. Since the XP is not shared, rather than trying to maintain a well rounded party, some people will just devote their entire XP to one character and way overlevel the story content.
This. I'm currently playing through AoD, and my current strategy is pretty much "solo Item World with Laharl for decent equips, then kamikaze my party one at a time into the story enemies". It's too much of a hassle to grind even in the Item World; you pretty much have to power up your equips and focus on one character during the main story (unless you're crazy or OCD or something).

Is there also a Episode/Chapter requirement? I unlocked 3 of those (got the pop ups) on one Item map early in Episode 3, as well as the second level of Valkyrie, but when I went to create them after I got out all I had was the second level Valk, none of the others.
Quick question. When you start a new episode and you get the three new chests that appear in your hub world, is there a reason to save, then keep loading and saving, opening these chests cause you might get a really awesome item or are they restricted to your current shop level (In which case, you should not open them until you raise it as high as you can before ending the episode and resetting the chests).

Check the senate proposals. I think you have to pass a bill now in order to unlock some new class options in the character creation menu.
I successfully secured my game from ups, of course I had to stand around for about 40 mins until the driver got back to the warehouse, but I got it and was able to play for about 2 hours.
the cam pain map is still a little confusing to me... do i need to have people standing on every tile? I just got to the part where I can place other buildings, and I assume people standing around these buildings get a buff of some sort?

Yea, In fact I think almost all of the classes can only be used once the bill for it has been passed.
@ TheKoolEagle - Having people stand next to each other makes them more likely to join in for counter attacks with that person. Each building will have colored tiles around it. Having people stand in those colored tiles will let them have the effect of that building (each type of building has a different effect, if you go to place buildings it will tell you what the effect of that building is).
Bought this game on a whim having never played any of the others. I've been on a Final Fantasy Tactics kick recently and thought I would try a newer version of the same idea. Sooo much to learn, half of this stuff doesn't make sense, but hopefully I'll get it before I get too much deeper.

Yeah, found it right after I posted. Got the archer passed (thanks to a visiting dignitary who shot the opposition) but the Skeleton Dragon party blocked me on the Beast Master.
I'm up to 5-3, and it seems like a pretty solid candidate for an easy grind level. It's just 4 groups of enemies all clustered together in groups of 4, with the only color block of note active an enemy boost 50% that can be destroyed within two turns thanks to some warp tiles in the corners.
might hunker down in this one till I have enough mana to reincarnate half my guys into advanced classes.
Can I sidetrack this thread for a moment in search of recommendations for a PS3 RPG? (edit) Actually, 360 is okay, too.
I've been out of the loop on more traditional RPGs for a while and have an interest to pick one up (along with Disgaea 4.) So far I have been looking at Trinity Universe, Eternal Sonata, and Atelier Rorona (though not traditional.) I could use some guidance, though. Is there anything I should know about these games? Are there games I am overlooking? What do you recommend?
I have the requirements for Professor (Sorcerer and Healer level 25), but it will not fucking give me the bill to pass. I've almost got my whole team together now, so just let me have it!

Trinity Universe is weird. I love it but yeah, keep that in mind.
Eternal Sonata is pretty as fuck but overly simplistic. It's a very nostalgic run but with all that entails, good and bad.
Atelier Rorona is fuck tons of awesome but it's an acquired tatse. If you tried and liked Recettear on Steam, you'll love it. Keep in mind the sequal, Atelier Totori, is out this month.
You may want to look at Rune Factory Oceans as well. It;s a Farming RPG but there's lots of dungeon crawling and crafting in it as well.
Also, look at Hyperdimension Neptunia and Ar Tonelico Quoga if you're comfortable with naked 12 year olds. HN I would personally skip, but AT is a neat game if you ignore all the blatant perversion.
I was very impressed with the PS3 Agarest War as well. Character creation was really neat but I haven't played far enough into it.

Resonance of Fate or Demon's Souls would be my picks. Anything with the Idea Factory label on it should be an automatic pass.

I felt the same way with Disgaea 3. But it was also a busy, stressful time for me so that didn't help to increase my enjoyment. So far in my opinion, though, Disgaea 4 is the best thing since the first one. I'm enjoying it that much.
I'm very happy that someone mentioned this specifically. I played the original Disgaea to death, and Disgaea 2 and 3 were underwhelming to me for some reason. I've been on the fence for getting 4, and now I think I've been nudged to go and spend some money on it. Thanks! (I think)

The requirements for professor are actually Onmyo Monk and Healer at 20+.

Thanks! I went ahead and picked up Trinity Universe for $30 at lunch. The price was right for a game that looks like it goes for $60+, and may grow hard to find.
In regard to Atelier Rarona, I am a fan of Racettear and Mana Khemia, so I thought this would be right up my alley, but the sequel looks like it might be considerably better. I'm thinking I should just wait for that. I will also keep my eye on Rune Factory, though, because I know the series is well regarded on other consoles.
I was looking at HN, but that game looks so far out there that it loops back and out again. I will check out Ar Tonelico, though. Agarest looks neat, too, but reviews haven't sold me on it yet. The SRPG battles are certainly enticing.

You can probably get the first Agarest on 360 for much cheaper if you want to try it. And Rune Factory is an ACTION RPG which may not fit in the "traditional" slot for you.

I am comfortable with some action in my RPG. The variety of activity in Rune Factory is what appeals to me.
Also, Ar Tonelico is kind of expensive and hard to find. If I were interested, is the European version any different?

weights reduce your health to 25% of your total in exchange for a boost to a given stat (25% boost to atk for example).
I tend to stay away from them except for my overpowered high SPD characters as they are near impossible to hit anyway.
