The best feedback is when you're told you just suck at the game; there's nothing wrong with it, you're just bad at it
It's not even an opinion, it's just patently false because you're so terrible at the game that you don't know what you're talking about
well, I think that's valid in some cases.
like in World of Tanks some people will just make the most absurd complaints.
my favorite is when people will complain that artillery ruins the game and doesn't belong. why? because it's called world of tanks.

True
But I was thinking of a specific instance where I was informed that there's nothing wrong with needing more than an entire assault rifle clip to kill a guy in an FPS, it's just that my aim sucks
The fact that the devs tweaked the damage mulitpliers to a more generous level with a patch obviously meant nothing
Like auto assault. I liked that game. Too bad the servers are shut down now.
The game was super fun for about a day with a solid group of 4 people. But that's it, it got stale fast, which isn't a good thing for an mmo. And it sounds like it turned into high lvl ppl stomping the hell out of noobs pretty quick
I logged on for old time's sake yesterday, and then proceeded to get dominated by three guys with fully upgraded everything, so this game is no longer on my computer.

It's like, the suits, man! Being "corporate" doesn't mean turning stupid, being stupid means turning stupid.
The best quote for me was, "Developers might not be experts on money, but they’re incredibly smart people, and the parallel between spending in an organisation and optimising code is obvious."

I feel really, really bad for a lot of the folks who spent years working on this game that they had to know wasn't going to work, but were powerless to change it.

To be fair, I don't think he was saying the problem was the 'suits' so much as that someone decided that suddenly they needed this whole huge internal infrastructure and just went ahead and implemented it without any regard as to if it actually made sense or did anything helpful.
game woulda been easy to fix if they'd just listened to the beta testers. i still had a lot of fun, though.
If only there was some way to broadcast a message to everyone at once.
if only there was some way to broadcast the message "beta testers only show up in the office after all primary design and programming is finished. You are here to find bugs, not to say "you know what would be cool is if ________"

it's a given that civilization will be good. it's from a proven studio who has made four really excellent versions of the same game before
a multiplayer-based fps from a studio who has made exclusively singleplayer rpgs? yeah, they're not getting my money until i can read a less-than-scathing eurogamer review

If they're making an MMO to be hard to play, well, good luck with that.
In my defence though L4D is the least involving of all the Valve games I've ever played
It is not for me

maybe you shouldn't think of it as an mmorpg
Me and a buddy convinced a friend to buy it cos we didn't have any money and wanted to know what it was like.
Turns out it sucked.
hey, all you fans of this mediocre game, come try our mediocre game instead!
But I hear the balance between fresh arrivals and vet players makes things unfun for new starters
well you certainly shouldn't think of it as a driving game

well, it makes sense from a marketing perspective
hey, let's market to people that like mediocre games already!
I was stoked for this and GA too though, but Brink is actually looking pretty good.
I was almost going to preorder it until I noticed it still a ways away.

Uhhhh.....
I guess.... They made games with single player, but not exclusively single player games.
alright, it might be good. still going to hold off. quake wars was pretty balls
Bungie are done with Halo forever.
Reach was their last one.
343i are the ones making Halos now.
Didn't have the money for it though and it didn't seem like it took off or anything
I have no idea why people didn't like it.
