I gave my boyfriend my case for my DS that I got with the launch of the DS, since he didn't have a case. Right now for games and charger I'm using the GBASP case that BestBuy gave out when you purchased it back in the day.
Right now it's holding a charger and about 20ish games with room to spare, and it fits right in my palm. So small.
Yes, but that is that 512 MB is enough to try the VC service, whereas 1.5 GBs doesn't seem like enough for even one 3D movie.
Ninja edit response: Yeah, maybe streaming is in, but unless it has a 3G option, that's not very portable...
I really doubt the movie service was much more than Nintendo posturing possibilities anyway, so I doubt it'll be an issue. Maybe I'll be wrong but I just can't really see Nintendo setting up an online video store.
Not to mention the same amount as the Xbox had and twice the amount the PS2 and PSP had(the PSP-2000 onwards had 64MB but that was just to speed things up, games can't really utilise it properly or they'd make their games incompatible with the original PSP). And unlike those systems, the 3DS doesn't rely on slow-ass disc drives. 64MB should be perfectly fine.
Based off those specs, the only thing that really jumps out at me is that the GPU looks kinda slow. But then seeing as there's jack-all details, I think I'll just wait for the actual specs to come out, assuming Nintendo ever wants to release them.
I wouldn't say the GPU is that slow, remember it's a dual core. Keep in mind it's kind of like how a Pentium 4 at 3.8 GHz would get curb-stomped by a Core 2 Quad at 2.4 GHz.

Um.. some super old fabric one. No brand name on it. It has a pocket on the front just for the games. Can't find it online, it's probably been discontinued.

Have you actually got a source for that? Last I heard there were rumours that one of the CPU's would be dual core but I've heard nothing similar said of the GPU.

Phil Spencer says that “one Halo game every three years is probably not frequent enough”
Following the cash bonanza that was the release of Halo Reach, Microsoft has confirmed that it intends to increase the rate at which it pumps out new Halo titles.
“There's no explicit strategy that says we're to ship a Halo game every year,” Microsoft Game Studios’ corporate VP Phil Spencer told IGN. “I will say I think one Halo game every three years – which was kind of our old cadence – is probably not frequent enough.
“We definitely think about a more persistent Halo engagement for customers and not going dark for two years, and Live helps obviously with multiplayer to keep people engaged.”
Spencer also went on to praise the job Activision has done in transforming Call of Duty into a successful annual brand:
“I used to look at annual releases of non-sports games as people just trying to milk me. I figured nobody had enough time to do a good job, and all of the negatives that we would associate with those kinds of scenarios. Kudos to Activision because they've done a good job building a good game, continuing to release each year and I think the fans feel like it's a good thing that they do that.
“I think there are some things to learn, some positives and some opportunities, in what they do with that. Obviously they've kept the quality extremely high, which I think is important.
“We have some unique challenges and opportunities with Halo because it is a story based game built around a certain set of characters, which is a bit different than what they do with Call of Duty. Not better or worse, it's just different. But watching them and seeing what they do – we take inspiration from a lot of places – but obviously they're a big success.”
Of course, Halo Reach was the last game in the series to be developed by Bungie, with Microsoft’s internal studios 343 Industries now assuming control of the brand. It’s the ideal time for a strategic shift, with Microsoft possibly free to split the studio down the middle, put the game on a two-year development cycle and pump out a new release every Christmas.
“343 Industries is thinking a lot about how to take this franchise and turn it into something that people feel like they have an ongoing relationship with and they can entertain themselves more often,” Spencer added.
“But it's not, hey every November 6th or whatever we have to ship a game and build a production plan around that. We want to do things that make sense as a first party.”

Mines a little different, but that's certainly close enough. Mine doesn't have a pocket for a charger, so it is a little less bulky.
I think what he's saying is that Nintendo didn't adopt CDs for the N64 largely because of the failure of the Sega CD, and he's worried they're not adopting Digital Distribution for the 3DS due to the failure of the PSP Go.
They didn't adopt CDs for the N64 because of the SEGA CD, they went with carts so they could avoid piracy first and foremost, and also because they really didn't like the concept of minute + load times.

And thus, the playstation was born.
Nah, that has more to do with Nintendo not wanting to hand over the rights of every Nintendo game published on the SNES CD to Sony.

No, the Playstation was born when Nintendo and Sony teamed up to create a CD addon for the SNES. Sony's share of the profits was unreasonably high, so Nintendo kinda screwed Sony and went with Phillips. Who were also dropped by Nintendo.
So both Sony and Phillips introduced their CD based hardware to the public. Phillips in 91, where as Sony kept developing the Playstation and waited for a proper jump in gaming technology.

Yeah, I don't remember the specifics, but it was something like out of every game published on the SNES CD, Sony got a very large amount of the royalties or something...

Actually, I thought it was because Nintendo didn't want to pay Sony a percentage of cd-rom sales (not necessarily the rights) for the peripheral. But in any case if it's one or all three of these reasons combined, the ps was born out of it. They skipped the cd media altogether, using goofy mini discs and every other media they could think of to avoid them. Sony touched them in a bad place with the ps.
***edit note: yeah Sheep, I missed that you said N64 and not SNES. I knew that it was a peripheral for the snes originally.. sorry about that.
Not content with boosting the weekly video games software market in the UK last week, the release of the latest instalment in the Halo saga also provided a welcome boost for Microsoft’s hardware sales.
The release of Halo Reach helped increase Xbox 360 console unit sales by 99 per cent week-on-week, Chart-Track director Dorian Bloch confirmed to GamesIndustry.
The game itself sold 300k units in its first day of sale in the UK, amassing $200m worldwide in the same period.
In doing so it bettered the week one sales performance of predecessor Halo 3 by 20,000 units and outstripped Halo 3: ODST by a massive 200,000 units.
Activision thinks this year's game can better sales of last year's instalment
Activision believes the latest title, released this Friday, will be more successful at retail thanks to a mammoth marketing campaign.
Activision brand manager Jonathan Edney said: “Such is the quality of the game and the campaign we’re pulling together to support it, that we fully expect it to beat last year’s numbers and help retain Hero’s position as the most valuable music gaming franchise in the world.”
Activision is keeping its marketing plans secret, but Edney promises a “heavyweight spend that is able to engage consumers at a deep level”.
Warriors of Rock adds a new guitar controller, a quest mode and the ability to transform in-game band members into epic fantasy beasts.
"Rumors surfaced indicating that Sony lawyers had skillfully crafted the agreement so that it allowed Sony to reap publishing profits from the SNES/Super Famicom CD-based games. These were the very profits Nintendo most sought to retain." N-Sider
Ok, I was close. I thought they retained all rights to published cd titles, including the IP.

More Halo games without Bungie, and more COD games without Infinity Ward.
Good luck with that, Activision. At least you have Blizzard.
Edit: That last part was the funniest in Couscous's linked post. Rockband meets furries meets Diablo meets bargain bin.
Damn it Microsoft. I actually thought you might treat your Mario with something approaching a sensible approach, rather then pumping out games until you kill the brand.

I can vouch that this is a kickin' DS case. It's also available on Amazon for a princely $8.99 each, in black, blue or clear (or pink!). There are also apparently 24-card cases, but I like the form factor of the 16-card one.
Pretty sure Blops is going to be way better than MW2. I think the CoD games will be fine without IW... as dirty as that makes me feel..
Halo should be fine.. I hope.
I don't know how BLOPS could fail. It doesn't matter if it's 'better' or not. I mean, MW2 was *inferior in just about every way possible (no dedicated servers, nearly identical graphics, small number of maps, crud single player campaign, obnoxious perks/kill streaks) and it sold like free blow jobs.
I shudder to think how bad it would have to be to not sell.
*probably not fair to say it was inferior. It is however fair to say it's basically identical, with some key features missing from the original.

Okay, NPD-and-similar maniacs, I've got a question for you: Does anyone have LTD's for PS2, OXbox, Gamecube, Game Boy Advance, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS, and PSP.....in Worldwide, NA, Japan, and Europe?
Yeah, I know, I'm asking a lot. But if you got it, please share it. Thanks.
Well I doubt anyone has European numbers. In any case I'd start at the video game sales wiki.

How come the ESRB rates videogames in America, when that should be a governmenal organization taking care of determining was is fit for the people?
In Aus. we have the government give things ratings, not an private organization :S. I think your government should be regulating the video game rating system to be honest.

Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
If Marty and Salvatori aren't composing for the Halo series anymore then the series is dead to me. Their music is what makes Halo great. Without them and Bungie these new Halo games will be Halo in name only.
In a perfect world the next Halo game would launch with the next MS console and no sooner.
No.
In a perfect world the next Halo game would launch in a year and it would a well put together, not rushed, game.
Again, this is the third Halo gave we've had in two years. Halo Wars was a decent RTS on consoles. ODST was decent. Reach is decent. Annual releases are only a bad thing if the IP is allowed to go stale.
Other than simply not being a big Halo fan, I can't find any serious flaws with the games.
The upgrades in online matchmaking from 3 to ODST to Reach are astounding. Reach is pretty damn innovative.

Yeah, and maybe they can also regulate which movies are approved and which books are appropriate and all the other forms of free speech. Too much slips past these ratings boards!
