Crazy Internet Lady [continued]

I figured out how to block her email address, but I'm still receiving calls and text messages. I usually delete them quickly, but a few times I've read her messages and she goes on to say how she hasn't received any money from me and that she has my "relatives info" and even asks if I'm "related to..." and then uses the names of my parents.

I don't know where she gets this information, but it stresses me out. In a way, it feels like she's trying to blackmail me into giving her some money. This tactic won't work. I've done some crazy, stupid shit and don't get ashamed or embarrassed anymore. I just say, "Woops." and chalk it down as another dumb mistake.

My assumption is that if I just continue to ignore her she'll eventually get bored and go away. She loves drama and loves to see the reactions that she gets by threatening people.

I could have AT&T block her number for an additional $5 every month... I suppose I could block her for a month and then cancel the service.

What do you think?

Change your number right now. Tell your parents that a person who you think is unstable may contact them. Continue as normal.

She sounds super crazy, but you must absolutely under no circumstances stir that hornets nest. That will only make her more likely to do something bad.

Yeah, as much of a pain in the ass as it is, just change your number.

Yup, don't respond under any circumstances. Don't even read those texts! Do what OTLC said; tell your family / siblings / etc. that an unstable person may contact them, and to please ignore them.

The $5 a month to block her will be well worth it, assuming you don't want to give up your number.

If you blocked her number, couldn't she just call you from other numbers, or send you text via email?

I don't like the idea of changing my number either, but in your situation I'd probably just live with deleting her texts and ignoring her calls.

What you could do to make the ignoring easier is to use a custom tone of just silence for her number.

Call the police and get a restraining order and report this harassment so if she goes totally nuts you have some dated evidence regarding her insanity.

I think this is a little extreme at this point and will only aggravate the situation.

If the police would notify her... that counts as a response. It will only escalate the situation. DO NOT ESCALATE.

She would love to get law enforcement and/or lawyers involved. I think I'll just block her number for a month.

    Thanks.

A buddy of mine uses a website (Youmail.com). He had a crazy ex girlfriend and changing numbers wasn't an option. When the enemy calls, she'll get a message saying that your phone number is disconnected, and after calling a few times, chances are she'll believe it. And you can modify it so different people hears different things. My friend's friends hear Spock asking them to leave a message. Pretty awesome.

Can anyone else verify this website?

    *edit* Found it:

Basic YouMail is free, but transcriptions are a premium service with a typical monthly plan costing seven dollars and transcribing a maximum of 50 messages from voice to text.

Unlimited message transcription can be had for 30 dollars a month.

FYI, my roommate has this, and she used it for exactly the same situation you're talking about and she got it for free. However, it only blocks that number, so the person she was trying to block used another phone and got through.
