PC Speaker headphone jacks audio loss?

I moved my pc to a case without front headphone jacks. I have some really cheap logitech pc speakers with headphone jacks. Is there any noticable audio quality loss going from PC to speakers to headphones vs PC to headphones?

If you are using headphones, why do you need the speakers plugged in?

I would just try them out and if there is a difference, just jockey the plugs back and forth.

Because I don't always use my headphones and it's extremely inconvenient to plug them in and out.

I am more interested in the actual knowledge.
