Contra. I wanted to play sop this year because it is much lighter, but they won't let me switch. We are still on Gs because unlike most Div II corps, we are not hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and want to keep it that way.

Ha. The funny thing is, my Contra followed me from Marauders to Crossmen. When Marauders folded, Crossmen bought all their shiny new low brass. I found my old horn, and was all, Hahahahahah, sucker!

I switched for exactly the same reason you wanted to. Contras are heavy.

Man, I hadn't seen anything about any drum corps for years because I was so far out of that culture. But a few months ago on a road trip down to NC we stopped at a truck stop around 4am and it was full of Crossmen buses and kids. It was awesome, I stood there talking to them forever while my girlfriend slept in the truck.

Well I never marched in an actual corps, partly because I grew up in Vermont where that kind of thing doesn't really exist. But I spent a few years in the Marine Corps Band, and all through that time I was going to see competitions and what not. I love all that stuff and if I had been young enough to do it when I got out of the Corps I totally would have.
