the worker rush guy said he wouldn't do it again if he knew what it was. probably because playing 4000 games just to spend 5 minutes parading a portrait around is pretty awful way to spend time. why spend so much time doing something shitty for that
Because it is in my blood, unfortunately. (Only people that have played wow will understand).
It also gives me something to do to keep off the sc2 rust when I don't have the time to bunker down and get some solid practice in.

Now that I am close to finishing all the non-quick match achievements, I am putting out a formal advertisement for a body (or two) that is interested in getting the coop insane AI achievements done. These would include:
Also, if you want to get in the habit of grinding out coop insane wins for Co-op comp stomp: Insane 250, I'll be down with that as well. PM me if you're interested.
It's not that hard to do. There's even a youtube video about this. Just pick Protoss and Cannon Rush every time. I will do this with you if I can get online tonight.
The insane ai got buffed. Workers will try to own a hostile structure from anywhere in their base. I'm pretty sure it's still possible to cannon/bunker rush, but you'll have to start further away than inside the mineral line. 6 pooling should work just fine still, however.
Besides, I don't want to test my luck by randomly queuing for 2s. Would hate to go 14-0 and then get someone that disconnects or something.

You know, if someone builds a proxy barracks at 6 supply they can get a reaper before a zealot can even be halfway finished.
Happened to me and my friend on a 2v2. I was going for stand reaper play, and this guy had one finished and attacking my friend before my tech lab was even done.

fucking lame
You gotta cut a looootttt of SCV's to get a barracks out at 6 supply.

yeah but whats a poor protoss going to do agains that. 2 reapers attacking you just as your first zealot is finished. No way in hell you are going to have a core up by then.
Mostly on a 2v2, since the maps are a lot larger and its really hard to find the proxy.
Just opened an account on SC2Replayed to upload my first replay but can't seem to get it to upload. Just says: "Parse currently in progress." and then fails. I have ABP and NoScript installed, anyone know if there's a problem?

No Protoss players were underpowered during this post.
alright I just tested it and its not so bad. The reaper CAN get in the base before the first zealot is even finished, but the toss should be able to chronoboost out a stalker around the second or third reaper is done. Then the toss can just march to victory.
So unless your original plan was to go straight core, then you are pretty much screwed.

Reapers can be in your base by 3:00 in.
I suppose this is why ling/reaper is so devastating.
Against toss, I always go straight core, and my first unit is a stalker. I just see no reason for that zealot. Of course that build in a 2v2 would bend me over if the lings came my way.
Zerg player here. I've been doing the 5RR for a while and I love it. But I have trouble with early rushes. Is there another accepted build that focuses on defense and such?
I was watching a Day9 during the No Queen challenge and one guy choked his entrance with spine crawlers and evo chambers, but that doesn't look like it would happen early enough to squelch a rush.

Hey, this is my first time posting in this thread, and i have a bug question for y'all. Whenever i open SC, it either stays black forever, loads up and then turns black, or loads up and just goes to the star screen, but only with the stars. What should i do?

im thinking you could be ultra conservative and put a bunch of cannons around your base. that would hold off both lings and reapers i would think, if you placed them well.

Cannons (any static defense for that matter) is a tough choice. Stalkers can be moved, used to attack, harrass, but the cost of building cannons can be wasted especially if it doesn't get many kills
zerg lack of walloffs makes them the easiest double rush target ever
this. i always hit the zerg in 2v2s.
but il try reaper/ling in 2v2 and see how it goes.
we need to share more 2v2 and 3v3 strats (but fuck 4v4 that shit blows)

I won my series! But that's only the first round. Second round of the tournament starts next week.
Replays if anyone's interested. The games are kinda fun to watch. The two I won were by massing carriers because my terran opponent turtled haaarrdd. Okay, cool! I will take the map and build T3 massive units.
3v3 strat: Have a good force of guys, have 2 of your players defend their push while the 3rd attacks their empty bases. Also, neural parasite on thors is hilarious.

congrats dude. hope the advice helped. stressing about competition and trying to get just a little more practice in never helps, it just stresses you out more.
Here is the bracket for everyone that signed up for the tournament! We only got 30 people so it's a little weird but everything should work.
So, check the bracket and make sure you know who your opponent is for the first round. There is a small chance I'll miss the beginning of the tournament because of RL stuff that just came up today but I'll do my best to be there. If I'm not just go ahead and play your games starting at noon est
Bo1 until the third round then it's bo3 (in both the winners and losers brackets)
Metalopolis will be the map for the "preliminaries"
Blistering Sands will be the map for "round 1"
Xelnaga Caverns will be the map for "round 2"
Steppes of War will be the map for "round 3"
Metalopolis will be the map for the semifinals and the finals, losers choose the next map

Sweet, I'm up against mEEks first round, the only guy from the forums I've played against and who completely destroyed me.
Edit: for the tournament, we just message the person we're supposed to play at noon EST? I'm just confused since you said you may or may not "be there" but I don't know where "there" would refer to. :P

Thats the basic idea.
My plan is to be on Bnet while the games are happening that way people can send me messages if they have a question or if they want/need to report who won their games so that I can keep the bracket updated

Honestly, a 6 rax reaper rush is not difficult for a toss to deal with. First, you should always drop a cyber core asap against terran - you need ranged units asap to deal with any early pushes, b/c zealots are infinitely kitable. Second, the first reaper will be there long before the cyber core is done. All you do is grab 5 probes from your line and set them to attack the reaper (the key is to not overreact and attack with or run away with all the workers. By chasing the reaper with a few of them, you force the terran to micro while the rest of your probes continue to mine. By the time he can slowly wear down the first few attack probes the stalker should be nearly out. Plus, you have the off chance of catching the reaper and surrounding it with the probes - this seems to happen often when I go up against reaper rushing terran as I don't think they're very good in general). Do the same with the zealot when he gets out. As soon as the cyber core finishes, chrono a stalker. Crisis averted.
The rush that I've gone up against that somewhat scares me is where the terran gets a reaper early in your mineral line. I do all of the above, and right when my stalker comes out, he rolls in with another reaper and a marauder. This is very touch and go to deal with. I played two guys in a row once who did the exact same thing. Proxy rax with tech lab. First reaper into mineral line. Follow up with 1 or 2 reapers and a marauder with an scv trying to build a bunker. Definitely had to rely on probes to defeat both of them.

Maybe I played that guy... like a week ago I got worker rushed by a guy who immediately GG'd out when I killed off 3 or 4 drones.

Just pointers would be grand.
The current trend is a delayed expand:
14 pool/gas
15 overlord
15 queen+2 lings
21 expand
where you throw down a roach warren either before or after the hatch depending on what you scout.

well, his interview persona certainly does match his diva in-game persona
so im glad i can still think he's a douche
I've got to get better about spending my resources though. There's way too many minerals in my bank after I expand.
