This guy at work I'm having constant arguments with is going to have a field day with this.
He thinks that ALL Muslim people should be shunned because of their religion's attitude toward non-muslims and because of ALL of them supporting terrorism or not saying anything against it.
He's just going to use this as another example of why Muslims are assholes and shouldn't be trusted at all because they are ALL up to something.
I told him I knew many Muslims and that I even saw a few cry on 9-11. "They are not true Muslims", they told me of the terrorists that day.
This guy at work thinks that ALL of them, however, support it and follow their Koran to the letter---which, according to him, is quite specific on how to deal with Infidels.
Seriously, he thinks this. And I have to sit there and try to remind him what we learned in school about generalizing and so forth.
And why is this coming up only now, after so many years of muslims driving cabs? It's bad timing on their part if you ask me; especially with the whole "airport" thing.
Well, to be Devil's Advocate, it IS quite specific about what to do with infidels.
So is the bible, but, like, no one follows all the shit in there. Not even the fundies.
I'm not saying the bible is any better. But if people are mincing words about the Koran's take on infidels, well, the writing is on the wall so to speak.
Whether or not people choose to follow it to the letter isn't really the point.
One can also make a very valid point about Muslims being much more strict about preserving the words of Koran exactly as they are, and thus holding more meaning towards the word as written than say, the bible.
I'm not of the fervent belief that all muslims are at heart bloodthirsty killers. I was just saying I can see how a reasonable person could make that assumption by reading selections from the Koran, which in any translation, has a lot of infidel hating/should be killing in it.

I'm a little disturbed there is a page of false quotes floating around so readily.

It doesn't match the online Koran here at all: http://lexicorient.com/e.o/texts/koran/koran002.htm
It was just a google link.
