For anyone's trial by fire, I recommend clearing out a huge cavern complex. It turns sissies into manly men; a barbaric rite of manhood. You'll walk away with a shit ton of iron if you're careful and fast.

last week de?ad and I found a spawn box and had a dance party with about twenty zombies
DE?AD's gonna be the weapon caddy. His primary job will be to set up quick, temporary dirt walls and throw equipment to us when we break something.
Corom (he's around on occasion) is our bucket wizard, casting buckets of magma and water as needed. He's also pretty handy with sand.
I work as scout, taking point with a load of torches and my bow and arrows.
Janson will probably just build cool shit at our base, and probably haul resources back.
Moriveth is our official creeper bait.

it's like first-person legos except you have to mine for proper building blocks/material to craft armor/weapons/tools with, and various monsters will spawn at night to wreck everything you've done.
edit: In a randomly-generated world 4x the size of Earth.

They've been around since before I bought the game!
Slimes are a really strange case, I don't know if anyone knows what's up with them. Sometime in the past few months he made them nearly non-existent because they spawned too quickly or something.
They're super rare now, if they can still be generated at all. I've only ever seen them in old maps.
