Finally won on the third time of asking, Chaos vs Undead. Took a couple of lucky dodges away from a mummy, a few one die blocks without rerolls, plus the ghoul I hadn't knocked out failing a GFI, but managed a 1-0 win. It could've been 2-0 if I had attempted a GFI (and succeeded) on turn 7, though, after getting the ball on their drive. My Auld World team's now only 30k from getting a much needed 3rd reroll.
Hopefully that means I won't be a free win for everyone when the league starts.
You realize we're using fresh teams for the league, right?
I know, I just feel better now that I've actually won a game without being diceraped, because I now feel that I don't completely suck.
Just mostly.

...wow, the dice really are nasty sometimes. I just played a Skaven team as goblin, and it was over by turn 1. I received, and by the end of the turn he had two Badly Hurt (including the Rat Ogre) and one dead blitzer. He gave up.

It was a massacre, yes. The weather also didn't help what with half of my remaining team being unable to play after drives. And the dice could just fuck right off.
Good game, aegis. Hopefully that lost goblin won't hurt the rebuilding process too bad. Goblins really suffer from having to put 11 men on the field, so your might blow fanatic didnt get a whole lot of playing time.
Well, anytime there is a chainsaw on the pitch, taking him out is a first priority. It's easy to do since he doesn't have dodge and the chainsaw gets +3 to armor rolls. Also, he's a huge threat (he knocked out Fangus Kahn, leaving me with only one vampire). So i guess try and give him a box as if he were a ball carrier.
How easy is it to inflict casaulties in this game?
Like, are you able to straight-up go for the kneecaps?
"You take him out, or I take you out" and the like.

It's a die roll that results from any block that knocks a person down (excluding wrestle):
1) You block them and they knock down and you make an Armor roll. This is 2d6 (+skills; ie- mighty blow) that is compared against the person's armor value. If he has an AV of 8, then you need to roll 9+ on the 2d6 to break his armor.
2) You beat his armor roll. Then you roll on the injury table. This is another 2d6 (+skills; ie- dirty player) that is just compared to a static table. This table is also modified differently by some player traits, for instance Stunty in which it's easier to get an Injury on a goblin player, I believe (the range is essentially modified).
2-7 - Stunned.
8-9 - KO'd
10+ - Injury
3) If you happen to roll a 10 or higher on the injury table, you then go to the casualty table. This is a d68 roll (technically it's an 11-68 roll, you use a d6 for the 10s and a d8 for the 1s) that isn't modified at all as far as I know:
11-38 - Badly Hurt
41-48 - Cosmetic variations of Miss Next Game
51-52 - Cosmetic variations of Niggling Injury (+1 modifier on all subsequent injury rolls)
53-54 - Cosmetic variations of -MA
55-56 - Cosmetic variations of -AV
57 - -AG
58 - -ST
61-68 - Dead
So, each casualty has a 1/6 chance of being a death.
Depending on your team makeup, it may be easier or harder to injure the other players. Bashy teams...bash. If you take a lot of mighty blow, you're maximizing the chances that you're going to break their armor and cause an injury.

"You take him out, or I take you out" and the like.
Any time you knock someone down (and a few other situations) you roll 2d6 for an armor roll. If the armor roll exceeds their score (commonly 7,8 or 9 depending on how tough the target is), you get to make an injury roll.
The injury roll is another 2d6. A result of 7 or below is stunned for one turn, 8-9 results in KO until next drive (possibly longer), and 10-12 is a casualty. A casualty knocks someone out for the game. 50% it is just one game, 1/6 chance it is this game and next game, 1/6 chance it is this game and next game AND loses a stat reduction, and 1/6 chance of straight up killing the guy.
Some guys are easier to kill than others, some are better at killing (those with mighty blow). Generally, the weak guys with AV 7 will make several injury rolls a game.
Now, if you are a kneecap kind of guy, you can hit a guy who is laying prone on the pitch by fouling (once per turn). It immediately goes to armor roll, so no worries about blocking. You can surround the poor jerk and get bonuses to the armor roll. Drawbacks: you dont get any experience and you might possibly get thrown out of the game.
e: Another question. Is legendary edition worth it?
According to this dev FAQ I dug up you can't upgrade from standard to legendary. Kind of a shame, I was hoping to test the waters with standard and upgrade to legendary if I really liked it.

So it's definitely not worth it to buy the standard edition now, either legendary or don't buy it.
The game is buggy, exploitable, has extremely high variance and can be frustrating as you watch your team with several hours invested into it get completely destroyed.
But it looks pretty good and is very very fun.

Updates?
I'm going to set up an IRC channel, because approximately no-one uses the Steam Group chat, and I'm not always on my main computer. Plus, IRC idling in the background is way less intrusive than running steam on non-gaming machines.
Not really a fan of this 'open play whoever' setup the league seems to be going for, because I'd rather just be told 'you are playing this guy, RNG says so' and be given a time to finish the game. Someone could go into their first match against an experienced team, or even end up playing someone with 2-3 times as many games under their belt further down the line.

+1 for IRC
An open league is the best of imperfect options. If the past is any guide, the league will pretty quickly bifurcate into active teams and less active teams, with teams mostly playing within their group. Not ideal, but trying to schedule games means 1 match per week and the league fail-cascading. Some people will lose interest before the league is over in any case. With an open league they can just be left behind. With scheduled matches, teams dropping out screws other people, causing more people to get frustrated or lose interest.

New patch!
PATCH NOTES 2.0.0.4:
- It is now possible to chat during Matchmaking research.
- Mercenaries will not lose their extra skill when loading a saved game.
- Replay playback is now working correctly.
- Tentacles and Shadowing are now combining normally.
- A player that has been hypnotized can't use Shadowing anymore.
- Players that collapsed from heat exhaustion will now be properly put in reserve.
- A Vampire that failed the Blood Lust roll will now properly leave the pitch on the time limit turnover.
- Players will always be 11 on the pitch (if there are enough of them for that).
- Players won’t be able anymore to "gracefully" cancel the game in the Pre-Match sequence using the ESC key.
- Update of the manuals, integrating last development information.
- Addition of the Italian manual in PDF version.
- Modifications on the dice generator.
WARNING: using a cheating system during a multiplayer match will end the match and offer victory to the non-cheating player.
Blood Lust is still not 100% CRP compliant, we are doing our best to fix it as fast as possible.
The best fix being the dice generator obfuscation to fix a current issue that's been floating around the Internet (assuming the fix works).

I take it that's to counter the dice-prediction software that people apparently had? Also, scary post number.
Yup. That Cyanide was apparently lazy/stupid/inept enough to have their pseudo-random dice generator be predictable (or just their seed by easily extratable) by such a program so early after launch is...not actually all that surprising given Cyanide.

Good patch overall
Fixing the ESC quitting pre-match is a godsend as well

I got sucked into reading the largest and most spectacular train-wreck of a thread obut this on the Cyanide forums. Near as I can tell, the guy who published his dice-predictor app had it working on BB1 (either the Dark Elf version or even earlier than that) and the system didn't change appreciably for Legendary. He held off on publicly releasing the app until right after the launch of Legendary because he has some kind of personal crusade against Cyanide, Focus, and Games Workshop, and judged that to be the most "damaging" window of release.
So the seed used to be extractable, but I wouldn't have called it easy... Someone said he'd complained about the anti-piracy software making the seed more difficult to exctract. Beyond that, he still had to reverse-engineer the system that turns the output of the random number generator into dice and the generation algorithm so that the next X dice can be predicted from the current seed.
Also, I wouldn't call Cyanide "lazy/stupid/inept"... I think they have one engine progammer and it's not like they have Valve time or Blizzard money. You weigh these kinds of risks during development and some you decide to nail down if or when an exploit crops up cause you got other stuff to finish and a real hard deadline.
True, but they charge Valve-like prices. If this were a budget title (~$20), there'd be a lot less bitching.
Fair point. I keep forgetting that other folks paid more (I got in on the sale so... $24) and I keep holding this up against the cost of GW minis as opposed to other vidja games. :P

If you're still on 2.0.0.3 you're fine, though you can't play online. 2.0.0.4 was released this morning but has a memory leak that brings the game to a standstill after a little while, so then they released 2.0.0.5, which you now need to play online, but which is not yet available on steam. Bleh.

To be fair, I could excuse a lot of ridiculous stuff if I were to hold it up against the cost of GW minis :P
I mean, if I were to buy eight Rotters, two Pestigors, and two Warriors it would run me $50
EDIT: Oh man, a single warrior is $9. I remember why I stopped buying GW minis.
