I have a project that I'm undertaking. My friend's 21st birthday is coming up, and she has dropped some fairly heavy hints that she would like a pack of Carling Beer (Her name is Carling and she finds the whole thing a little amusing.) This would be pretty easy if I lived in the UK, but I live in Maryville Missouri, about 100 miles from any major city. Nobody here carries it although I have heard mumblings that the local Hy-Vee wine and sprits will special order beer for customers. I was wondering if anyone knew of places nearby (I'd be willing to drive a decent distance to retrieve it) or a manner for finding it that's faster than just calling every liqour store in an ever-expanding radius. The I've tried the Carling website and it's generally unhelpful.
Your best bet is to figure out which distributor (company that sells the booze to liquor stores) in your state carries the beer and contact them directly to figure out where you can acquire such. In Massachusetts, every Liquor store gets a monthly catalog of prices and availability compiled for all the distributors. If Missouri has a similar system, it might take about ten minutes of someone's day to pour through and figure out which distributor has it. Take a jaunt to the friendliest local liquor store or a bar that has an extensive beer list and hope they're willing to help.
Once you ID the distributor, you need to do some phone tag with someone in the sales department of that company to figure out what the closest store crrying that beer might be.
Good luck.

Unfortunately, western cultures frown upon arranged marriages, so the vast majority of people have to take risks in order to get into relationships.
Looks like its a Canadian beer (hence it sounding so familiar). Look up thebeerstore.ca if you are interested in the kind of beer Carling sells.
Not sure how you'd get it down there tho...
Carling is english beer, not Canadian. Stick to your Pabst. *ick*
Seems like it is owned by Molson (a Canadian company) and it was also developed in Canada.
The guy for whom it was named was Canadian.
I'm not exactly sure how you would get ahold of any of this beer. If you wanted to order some from molson it would probably have to be such a large quantity that it wouldn't be worth it for you.
I'm not sure if you can order a small amount (say one case) and have it shipped to you.
I can get Carling in exactly one place that I know of; The Kroger in Bowling Green, OH. I have a 12 pack sitting next to me as we speak. Carling is my favorite cheap beer by far. I usually have my mom buy it for me if I go home or my folks come down.
Honestly I have never seen Carling anywhere else in the states. weird.

It looks like it's a Molson associated brand though, so you should be able to get it where ever they sell Molson/Coors products.

A bottom fermenting light beer utilizing Canadian barley malts and selected aroma and bittering hops to produce a fine, clean, crisp refreshing beer
And since I'm Canadian, and don't drink Pabst *eww*... bite me
I much prefer Moosehead!

It's a cheaper beer and it's not so great, in my opinion
If it helps, the can are mostly blue with yellow on the bottom and top
PS. pick up some real beer while you're here. You won't be dissapointed :P
