    Okay, stop right there.

    This is the MINECRAFT thread.

Feel free to go off and make a D&D thread to get locked in 20 or so pages if you want to start arguing religion. I kind of want this one to stick around.

since we have no MOBS, is there any way to get mossy cobblestone?

Mobs still spawn. They just can't be killed with a weapon. You have to set them on fire (which is turned off on Ein's server) or drag them into sunlight, drown them, or run them into a cacti.

The mossy cobblestone still exists in rooms with mob spawners. I'm pretty sure last night or the night before someone found a room like that on Ein's server.
Yep... head South from the /warp home, and go in to Samurai's place (past the giant cock, follow the signs, under the hill to the left of the building with the waterslide (which would be my place)). Go to the bottom of the ladder and take the right path following signs pointing towards the river, then go left at the sign pointing to the Dungeon. But taking the mossy cobblestone from there probably wouldn't be cool.

And that's not the only one. I stumbled on one while mining in Ember, and heard reports of at least one other that someone else found. Not sure how to give directions to either of those, though. I bet these things are all over the place.

Spawn points in survival SP: Do they move? Specifically, if I build stuff on my spawn point, does it automatically shunt me to one side? I carefully marked my spawn, built a cool pagoda thing there to spawn into, and now I spawn a couple of meters off to one side. Did I not mark carefully enough or is this standard practice?

Mossy cobblestone is created from mobs somehow? Didn't know that? How?

It's not created from mobs... it only exists in the mob-spawning dungeon locations:

From minecraft wiki: "In Alpha mode, it is currently only found in underground Dungeons, though it can be mined and used like normal Cobblestone."

FYI, Objective Ministries is a satirical website. They're also the ones behind Landover Baptist.

Anyway, where do you find wheat or whatever in this game? I've got a hoe with nothing to farm. :(

    Target some grass and right-click.

With more tweaking MineCraft could really become a fully open type MMO/RTS game.

Imagine one of those 250 player servers with two kingdoms on map trying to battle one another for supremacy.

You'd have to change up a damage system, maybe develop some type of siege mechanic, but it would be pretty tits. You'd be looking at full-scale wars between kingdoms that would take weeks, days, even months of game time to complete.

There is one in the hinterlands, once you warp there with "/warp arctic" and walk past the grey castle in front, head north left ( when facing the castle) and look for torches surrounding a hole in the ground. I have a spider killing trap. Free string for all visitors

There is randomly-generated stuff outside the 'boundary chasm'. This is normal, and expected, since you can see past the boundary. It continues the landscape as it existed just fine, but obviously does not continue the things I edited in like snow or sand or whatever.

Can you change the world north and east of the Hinterlands to snow? It kinda spoils the effect when you look east across the gap and see grass.

Also, it's so very quiet and peaceful way up north.

It's honestly not worth doing right now, Sky.

I get what you're saying, I do, but any terrain that gets generated past that will also be fucked.

Well, they'll need to either be lifted eventually or you'll have to do another map reset.

I'm leaving it as-is for now.

However, in future, we may lift the boundary. I'll do this by deleting the 16 blocks on either side of the gap (the chunks) so that the terrain re-generates and repairs the seam.

What you guys should take away from this is not to build too close to the edge.

    Cool.

Quick question: I know you said that you can build anywhere you want on Free Build Island (obviously taking into consideration others)

Is special permission required to build elsewhere, or just Rapture and Columbia? I'd like to take over an island in the Archipelago, but I wanted to make sure that there aren't any restrictions I need to be wary of.

    You can build anywhere.

You can build on Rapture, just don't break things.

You can build on Columbia, usually when a new platform goes up and they designate plots of 'land' for building, but you need to stay within the theme of the city.

There are a few major projects going on, like a road system and the farm construction, and it is possible to get emminent domained, but the map is so big that it really shouldn't be a problem.

You should probably put up a sign claiming your new space, too.

Example: On the previous map, someone built a 1 block wide staircase to the roof of the world and made a platform of fire. It looked awful and was visible from Columbia...we tore it down.

I just lost my original game, so I started over and made a pretty sweet cobblestone and glass tower. Both times I started I built away from my spawn, so I decided to try to make tunnels in that direction. So here I am, tunneling for... blocks and blocks underground and decide to dig up for a break. When break topsoil, I see a weird wooden structure with a stone tower on top in front of me.

Is it? IT WAS! I FOUND MY FIRST HOUSE!!

This game is my current addiction. @_@
