What if this Peter Parker is actually Ben Reilly?

I fully expect Kurt Busiek to use that when he fixes OMD and the spider-marriage in a few years (gotta believe!). It would be the cleanest way to keep Brand New Day/Big Time events around while still saving Peter from all the nasty he did since then.

but I don't want Ben to be corrupted :C

also, I was kinda surprised to see Reilly use the name "Scarlet Spider" himself, when it was originally a Bugle dude that nicknamed him that. I could've sworn he was irritated by it, in fact :P

one last Spider-Man clone related bitch :P

I just found out that Spider-Woman is seeing Human Torch in Ultimate Spidey, even though she has Peter's brain
sexual orientation and identity don't work like that

I still say Ben should reemerge as the Spider-Man that's figured out how to reconcile his life as Spider-Man, with his personal life. Show him as someone that's open and honest about his double life to his friends and family, that holds down a steady job, enjoys being Spider-Man without letting it consume him, and so on. I think it'd be interesting to see Peter faced with a version of himself that somehow managed to strike the balance that's always eluded him.

Well she is supposedly altered to be female

So it's not like they just took Peter Parker's entire brain and put it in a Lady body

It is Peter Parker's DNA which has been made lady DNA and grown from the genetic level up

Or so I assumed. She's an altered clone, rather than just a straight copy with boobs.

OMD isn't going to get retconned. They'll just have Peter and MJ hook back up at some point. Same difference.

I think maybe she's just protective of someone she sees as the love of her primgenitor, her very origin, and thus considers her worth protecting? I don't know really.

I mean I guess Spider-Man gets his powers from a special spider's genetics

So you know, maybe it is just comic book science

The Jonny/Jessica thing could be pretty cute

though we've barely seen it on panel.

If you told me in 2003 Peter & MJ would break up the way they did I would say you're crazy. If you told me two years ago Superman would walk across the country being a jerk and Arsenal would lose an arm and do drugs again and beat someone up with a dead cat I would have called that crazy too.

    Comics are silly sometimes.

I'd like to see the results of OMD come back in a big way, with Mephisto making a play on Earth, all because of Peter. People would finally have a real reason to think Spider-Man's a menace.

But the official line on OMD, according to Quesada, is that OMIT removed it from history. So I imagine it's just never going to be referenced again.

I realized on Monday that there are people in college right now who weren't born in the same decade as I was (I'm 26), and that literally made me curl up on the couch and not move for an hour.

Because I was watching Conan O'Brien's show.

    But I mean.

I'm sure there was a correlation with the other thing, as well.

    Oh kids.

(I've never actually read Malibu Comics, I just read Wikipedia a lot.)

The most memorable Malibu Comics character, for me, has always been Prime: a thirteen-year-old boy who can turn into a super-powered adult, but still maintains the mind of a thirteen-year-old boy. So then he's trying to impress thirteen-year-old girls, and everyone around him is going "Uhhh...".

Yep, there was an Ultraforce cartoon series. I have it on VHS around here somewhere.

Prime was a great dude. He started out as a grossly muscled parody of Captain Marvel, but they made him a pretty interesting character eventually.

How can you have comics without romance

What the fuck is that about

Seriously the lack of romance in superhero comics depresses me'

@jessnevins 1949: Marvel publishes 95 titles. 30 humor, 29 romance, 18 western (5 of these are cowboy romance), 9 crime, and 6 superhero.
And Karla isn't good enough for Clint Tex

    He's a married man

    Homewrecker

Not only was there an Exiles comic by Malibu that had Juggernaut on it but there was a chick with the power of...phoenix! Supposedly, not sure how that went, probably turned out she had the phoenix's fart or something, she was also suppose to be related to someone via the Marvel universe. I remember them teasing about it.

Also I still hope that everything about OMD gets fixed back to how they use to be, I got no idea why comic book creators are so scared of characters getting married and having kids, it's like suddenly they don't know what to do.

Well there's still a few around. We've got the FF, Luke and Jessica, Big Barda and Mister Miracle? Are there any other Prime Time married super couples in the MU or DC?

Big Barda and Scott Free are dead right now (or at least not resurrected yet).

Wally and Linda are still married and have kids, although the whole West family has kind of been pushed to the side since Barry came back.

A lot of people did not like the whole kids thing with Wally and Linda and I didn't blame them, they basically took the two babies, did a little time travel and boom now they're super powered kids! I rather we got to watch them grow up normally instead of hey we can have them do wacky family adventures by aging them so. I swear that's a cliche, that or kill them or have them vanish be given to a childless family so they don't end up hurt. Always ends up going one or those ways in the end.

You mean aging normally or growing up normally, if you say growing up normally then I admit that's unlikely due to any number of super villain attacks and dealing with their father is a hero but come on, has to be some way that they can normally age and then have to handle the reality of their situation without being utterly dragged into it twenty four seven.

You have the kids age, you just always make the adults get de-aged by some cosmic thing, like Reed and Sue with Heroes Reborn, Hal with Rebirth, I think even Peter got de-aged with OMD.

Peter didn't get de-aged! The only things retconned were the marriage, Harry dying, and OMD itself.
