I keeping thinking that about his movies, but somehow when I finally see them, they are always just bad without being hilariously bad.

All I've ever seen of his was a little bit of House of the Dead, towards the end when clips of the game are thrown in. That was pretty hilarious.

And if I remember, Lowtax said the movie ends with Osama and George W. Bush skipping into the sunset.

Uwe Boll finally got smart. he doesn't know how to make movies and this one is going to be horrible too, but he knows what makes money. He is going to fill the movie with controversial subjects, knowing that people will buy it, just to see the subjects covered. Now all he has to do is make an awful movie and still make money off of it.

It's not the content that bothers me, it's the fact that Boll is a giant walking genetic mistake who needs to stay the fuck away from a camera because he doesn't have a single mote of talent in his gigantic German head.

I dislike Uwe's movies as much as any other gamer, but the way I see it he's just a businessman capitalizing on an opportunity. Like it or not this is how the world works, businesses today thrive on expoitation.

If you want to hate someone, hate the studios that gave him money and permission to make the movies.

Being pedantic doesn't disprove my point. Characters shit on the show all the time, they've poked fun at Osama, 9/11, Aids, Terry Schiavo and plenty of other stuff. If they had a good Columbine joke, they'd make it.

I'm not saying it won't suck, but there's this culture at the moment of "I AM OUTRAGED AT THIS NOT PARTICULARLY BAD THING BECAUSE IT COMES FROM A PERSON OR COMPANY THAT MY E POSSE DO NOT LIKE". Besides, you don't have to watch the fucking film, and was anyone REALLY holding out for an awesome adaptation of Postal of all things?

    Uwe Boll goes postal

Posted Oct 25th 2005 3:31PM by Karina Longworth

When video game developer Running with Scissors released a title called Postal in 1997, it created so much controversy that censorious politicians such as Senator Joe Lieberman immediately demanded that it be removed from store shelves. Lieberman and friends eventually got their way; Postal was actually banned in several countries. Now RwS has announced that it's letting Uwe Boll make a movie out of the game, with a targeted release in 2007. Boll has made a (mostly bad) name for himself directing (mostly unsuccessful) films based on (largely obscure) video games. His Alone in the Dark, starring Christian Slater and Tara Reid, sat on the shelf for ages; but then again, as Will Carlough wrote last week on Slate, it wasn't exactly based on a beloved title to begin with ("What system did Alone in the Dark come out on, Atari Jaguar?"). Running with Scissors' CEO, for his part, is confident that Boll is the right man for the job. “He understands the subject matter and has an appreciation and affinity for controversy and political incorrectness," Vince Desi says. Boll himself agrees that P.I. is, in fact, his M.O. "The film will have all the political incorrectness and American craziness from the game, wrapped around an action thriller story line," Boll said. Ah, yes - American craziness. Cool cool!

Cinematical's kissing cousin Joystiq doesn't usually put too much stock in Boll, but, as Conrad Quilty-Harper puts it, this might be one game that the director has a hard time screwing up: "Ironically, Postal has the bare minimum of what you’d call a plot, so at least that reduces the chances of Boll changing anything too much and annoying fans of the game."

Let's not pretend the game had much of a story to begin with.

Dude goes crazy, runs around killing people. Unarmed citizens, police forces, military personnel, and a marching band are all gunned down. The last level is a kindergarten playground where, thankfully, the "hero" finally loses it and just passes out, or something, rather than killing dozens of five-year-olds.

That's seriously it. There's nothing else to the game.

What's the goddamn difference? It's a recording of someone with feces coming out their rear end. It's pretty goddamn disturbing no matter the position of the camera.

When the best argument you can come up with revolves around semantics, you should probably take a step back and rethink your position.

Well people have drank horse cum and ate horse shit on camera, and been filmed walking around shitting on themselves.

I think Jackass has already pretty much desensitized the public to that kind of behavior.

If people do get mad it will be about the 9/11 and Columbine issues.

While South Park does openly mock sensitive political issues in a very non PC way they are always careful to mock them from the view that the vast majority of the public has, and they always make a point to show the absurdity of the situation.

If Boll is just out to piss people off I'm sure he can.

The difference between South Park and Postal, I'd imagine, is that South Park has a certain art and is very funny. That doesn't really change the fact that the base content is similar.

It's worth considering whether you're made about this because of the content itself (fair enough) or because of the person involved (stupid).

Well, he's had a couple of appearences on Scrubs which is arguably the biggest sitcom on network TV right now but, yeah, he hasn't had a major character role since News Radio, which annoys me because News Radio was awesome. It was even pretty good after Phil Hartman was replaced with Jon Lovitz.
