So, I tried the L'etranger last night. Doesn't seem like a good weapon, tho getting that little extra cloak for my dead ringer was helpful once. Looks and sounds really cool so I think I'll keep it around for a bit.

Seems more accurate for some reason than the regular revolver. I like it, it looks like a British Webley revolver.

It might just be me, but the model for the L'etranger looks really tiny. When I compare it to the spy's hand it looks like a small, toy pistol. The sound it makes when fired is badass, though.
I think that valve has shown us that for a truely great MMOFPS or MMORPGFPS, you need to start with a good FPS and slowly, SLOWLY inject MMO or RPG elements in there, always keeping it balanced so that no one gets bowled over but someone at a high level.
Dammit, I can't wait till I get back to my desktop in America to run this!

Yeah, the flare crits on flaming people are why I never use the shotgun anymore. Very fun to burn someone, blast them back, and flare them to death in midair.
It works especially well if you do this off of a cliff or high ledge, so the falling damage would be the cherry on top of the sunday. I've disposed of loads of heavies easily with this strategy.
Okay, on a whim I went and got another pair of crate keys to open two new crats I've gotten, here's the list so far.
Crate #1 (Series 1): Name Tag
Crate #2 (Series 1): Gunslinger
Crate #3 (Series 2): Dueling Pistols
Crate #4 (Series 2): Australium Gold
Crate #5 (Series 2): Short Stop
The next crate I opened myself and it was a napper
My crates are baller
gimme more crates
your crate is now embodied in the form of a sergeant's drill hat, which is my favorite soldier hat I traded the sombrero for, so I cannot thank you enough

I've always enjoyed using the flare gun...once I got it I never went back to the shotgun.
I know the shotgun has its tactical uses but a flare gun in the hands of a pyro just seems right. I mean why have a projectile weapon if it can't set someone on fire? :winky:
Shotgun is extremely good for killing scouts and other pyros. As a scout it's almost laughably easy to kill a flaregun pyro if you have room to maneuver.

Yeah, I know it hurts me at times (like in water) but I refuse to switch my set up from Flamethrower, Flare gun, Axetinguisher. Maybe I'd try the degreaser, if I can get it though. That quick switch sounds perfect for my play style.

But then there's that 1 in 10 situation where the flare pegs the scout, killing him.

And the pyro is all smug.gif.
had this exact experience against goomba the other day on goldrush
For those of you who play pyro what do you do when you run around a corner and come across a heavy medic combo in your face? It seems like the only option is to die while running away. :x
On a completely unrelated note I feel like I need to go play on some other server than the PA servers to learn how to play new classes. I just get my face raped off every time I play sniper, scout, or demo and this ruins my fun. (My main classes are spy and pyro)

No, I am not really communist. Yes, it is weird that I use this name.

As for medic heavy combo, you can either try to kamikazi rush the medic or airblast them further around the corner and run like a bitch. At least that's usually what I do.
At the very least, if you know your fucked, try to inflict as much damage to the medic as possible while pushing them back. If they have an uber, you can force them to pop it earlier than they wanted.

When playing as a scout whenever I see any class equip the shotgun I think "Look free points". At medium range (the range i'm going to hang out at with my shortstop) the shotgun does 10-30 damage my shortstop does 24-48. I'm going to win that battle.
The pyro's that kick my ass as a scout are the ones that light me on fire then restrict my movement using the airblast.

Airblast. Flee.
Nah, you're screwed no matter what you can do.
Best case is whip out the flare gun and hope you can tag the medic before dying. Either it sends him running for a health kit, or he blows his uber early.. both cases help your team.

Then body shot them? The sniper rifle can still do damage!
Or man up and use the SMG.

Remind me never to go to Vegas.
#1: Napper's Respite
#2: Black Box, which I didn't have so I was actually happy.
I have a third that I haven't opened, and of all the items I only have 2, so my odds are pretty good.
The next crate I opened myself and it was a napper

One was scottish resistance, one was black paint. No big loss.

I'm still waiting for the pyro to get a flaming crown that hovers a few inches above his head.

Also updated a few other maps as well. Think I pulled all the broken maps as well.
Also, I might've missed this in a patch, but apparently the new soldier banner doesn't charge from fall damage anymore.
Also, you know what would be awesome tonight? Mans in server.

Damnit, I actually liked that. Gave me something to do during Setup.
