So yay, my Zombrex Edition arrived. God damn do these CEs always false-advertise the size of the thing. It's basically a thicker version of a normal-sized 360 package :P Nice of them to shove the Zombrex brochure in there all folded in quarters because it doesn't fit too :P
I do like the stuff they put in there though. The brocures and crap are hilarious - all happy, smiling models hugging each other and laughing like a typical pharmaceutical ad. The pen is pretty neat too (has some fake liquid in it). The steelcase is cool but it doesn't actually say Dead Rising 2 anywhere on it. I'm going to have a game on my shelf with the spine reading "Zombrex" -_-
thats me done for the night, main due to being rage quitting (from tiredness) when picking up the
the mermaid, deciding to do a shortcut through the bank hole and coming apon firework wielding magic trick pair and me with very little in the way of food. goddamnit. only have 9 hours to go to.
I ended up running out of time on a case file because I didn't realise that the time didn't just apply to that one step, but also the ones to come after it. It was early in the game, so restarting isn't a big deal. I don't really know if I want to restart to do story or just fuck around to level up, though.
I had the exact same thing happen. I don't remember anything like that in DR1 (though maybe I'm forgetting something). If the games says I have 30 minutes left to activate the case file, that shouldn't mean that I have 30 minutes to activate the case file and complete an entire escort mission.
Luckily it's very early on, or I would have been much less amused.
I would just like to say that Amazon is an amazing company. Ordered this yesterday evening, paid $.99 for release day shipping, and sure enough it was waiting for me when I got home. I love modern conveniences.
So, got the PC version and am loving it so far. I'm very happy to see a competent PC port that controls and plays well. Was afraid I'd have to hook up my Xbox controller to play it properly, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that KBAM controls marvelously. Back to killing zombies.

In DR 1 it happens on the
Get medicine for brad questline. You have the same time limit to kill Steven in the grocery store and the case to bring it back. It happens again with the bombs questline. You get a shared time limit to defuse the bombs report back to the safe room and see Carlos and to go back down there and fight Larry the butcher. There may be more but its been forever since Ive played the first.
So this is pretty good on PC? I was worried it wouldn't be.
Definitely. Plays well and controls well with keyboard and mouse.
Having spent some time with both the 360 and pc versions now i'd say the pc version is far superior, i a get a steady 60 fps(locked there thanks to vsync) on my fairly mid range pc with everything maxxed at 1920x1200, which looks much better than the 360 version, load times are instant and the controls are as you said rock solid

The pistols are actually useful to me now, as I can pull off quick and easy headshots with the mouse. And yeah, with everything maxed out it doesn't so much as stutter (admittedly have a high ranged PC though).
Just for those wondering, it carries over 80,000PP and $2,000 no matter what you have above that. It also carried over a bunch of clothes and conbo cards.
I was surprised too, it treats your case zero file AS your dr2 file. It overwrites it.
I had 300kPP in case zero, and now I have no option to continue, and it shows that slot as a dr2 save. Good thing I 200/200 it earlier!

I don't want to know how much money I've spent trying to win that car in the Royal Flush Plaza.
This isn't how it works. You can't get the car by gambling - even if it looks like you can. Gambling helps get the car because you stack all 3 gambling books (that makes your chances of winning absurdly high) and then you go to the high stakes machines. I think they are $1000 or something each. You can get up to $100+K per win and have just about an instant chance of winning. Go to the pawn shop and then buy the key for the car from the pawn shop.
You can use the TIR multiplayer, but in the end this is vegas and with the gambling books (which are practically cheating) you can earn money so fast multiplayer can't keep up. Once you buy keys they are permanent, so you'll always have them and it makes subsequent playthroughs very easy.
Does anyone know of a good site for tips, how you get the better stuff and what it does specificly for Dead Rising 1 ?
I played this a long time ago and didnt like the time constrictions, but I wanted to give it another shot, and probably pick up stuff like the full MegaMan suit and the Laser Sword, but I have trouble finding a helpful guide.
I'd love to add a tips section to the OP, too, for things like zombrex locations, outfits and unlockables and item combos, etc.
are there hidden zombrex locations?
so far it seems the only way to get them is either pay cash or wait until you get a message that a survivor or psycho might have one, is there any just laying around?
Yes. There is a very simple (and actually very beneficial) one to find as well.
Go to the Yucatan or whatever it is called Casino. There is a large pyramid like structure in the middle of it. Climb all the way up it and there is a platform with a LMG (very nice) and a zombrex.
Anyone know what carried over from Case Zero? Is it just the level?
level, combo cards and money, i think the pp is capped at the level you got to on import tho.
annoying thing happens when you rescue a certain survivor..
the fat dude looking for food who has a zombrex during day 2/3, you have to give him food to take him back the safe room and then after you do that all the food and creamers and oj vanish from the saferoom cantina forever. goddamnit
also playing poker makes no sense, then again i don't know the rules and lost everything.

In the American Casino, go to the BBQ restaurant, up the stairs to the 2nd floor of the restaurant. From the 2nd floor you can jump onto the square yellow box lights that hang from the ceiling, and platform from light to light into an overhang by the door to Royal Flush Plaza. There is money, a bear, broadsword, magazine, and a Zombrex there.
You will also get 2 free Zombrex from Survivor rescues, and 1 free zombrex from a Psychopath defeat. You can get to the end of the game with an S ending in Overtime, saving all survivors, and never have to purchase a Zombrex.

Now that I am finished and have my S rank I am happy to coop any time I am playing the game (assuming I am not in TIR). Send me an invite and I'll join in to ruin shit. Killing psychos is pretty much my forte, so if you're having trouble with someone I can come in for a "Hit" if needed.
When the other one comes up behind you, it is both the CREEPIEST and FUNNIEST thing I have ever seen.
The ending is by far the best part of that.
Sadly, my ending was the fucker setting me on fire until I died.
I'll come back later. With shotguns or something.
There is a super easy way of killing him.
Take the defiler, line him up as he moves and jump plus hold X (heavy attack). This will knock him on his ass. Wail on him 2 times and he'll start to stand up and spin. Stand out of range and wait for him to get dizzy after this. Run back in immediately and hit him again with a jumping X. This knocks him on his ass again.
Repeat from "wail on him 2 times" until dead. If done correctly, you should only be hit maybe a couple times due to purely being unlucky (or getting greedy trying to get too many extra hits in).
Yeah it's that easy.
Edit: It's worth noting there are very few psychos who can't be killed by jump attacks.
Edit 2: One of the exceptions (Case spoilers!)
The twin sisters. They are most easily killed with a shotgun and a bit. Just aim at one, move backwards and push RT. Really they're that simple. They won't be able to reach you and their attack animations are so slow by the time they strike you've moved back. You can kill one so fast the other is barely a threat this way and that's all you need to do
Can you make the Steam group more noticeable in the OP? It kind of gets lost in there.
Oh and for people wondering, the PC version is good. The only problem I have with it is that sound is too quite during cut scenes and then ramps up during the game, but that wouldn't be as much of an issue if my volume control on my PC still worked.
having not played the first DR, i gotta say im having a blast so far with this. i just passed the intro bit and im already having a ton of fun. hopefully i can deal with the weird save system and real time majoras mask stuff alright, because killing zombies in crazy ways is the shit.

You should do that for most of the first playthrough and then do the main story in the second - especially once you know where stuff is and the malls layout. You'll have much more fun: Trust me.

I think I've made it more noticeable. I've moved it to the top instead of the bottom, made the text longer and bolded it.
I've also created a Tips & Tricks section, our first one being Hung Bunny's money farming tip. If you've got more, such as Zombrex locations or special weapons or weapon combos, send me a PM.
Edit: I've added five zombrex locations to that section as well as an incomplete list of toys you can give to Katey.

There is a zombrex in the SE bend of the underground tunnels. If you're are heading out of the doors into the tunnels, hang a right, it should be on the ground after a bit of walking.
