Man I need to finish Reach so I can get back into this. I have this weird thing about not having too many games going at once.

I cant wait to see all the endings, and get the bad ones as hilariously as possible. Also, reading this thread there's still so so much Ive never even SEEN.

Also Ive decided that if I ever do one of those "play a marathon of games for charity!" it will absolutely be attempting S-ending runs of DR1, Case Zero, DR2 and Case West all back to back to back to back.

    So the slot machines:
It seems that if you see some cash on the ground in front of a slot machine, it is 'hot'. Play it a few times and it seems to pay out well. I think I make about 2-4k on each, and almost every bank of slots has one like this.

    Also, video poker:
The pay outs are so fucked, that it is a snap to make money on it, so long as the zombies stay back. Since pairs pay out something like 4 or 5:1, it is an amazingly simple task. Simply put, normally straights only pay out 6:1 or something. In this game, it seems to be around 25:1.
So play video poker and find yourself rolling in dough.

    a) Focus on one and ONLY one.
    b) Use the
    knife gloves
    combo weapon.
    c) Bring some food and/or drink some cocktails in the vicinity.

Honestly, what I did was equip the
    knife gloves
combo weapon and run around until they attacked, moved in for 2-3 hits, rolled away, ran away, waited for another attack...and so on - your basic Psycho killer combo.

Is TIR the quickest way to get money? I find I'm always first or second in my ranked matches, which usually means 60-80k+. I have about 600k now and I'm wondering if I should just buy the car or if I should save up for something better?

The vehicle keys carry over to new games right? What about the Knight Boots?

I was playing just a few minutes ago and had someone attempt to join my game. I declined, as my wife and I were farming out the slaughter zombie achievements (handing off the control as boredom reared it's ugly head).

I was then called nearly every racial epithet that I was aware of, for merely declining to let a random person join my game. I blocked him, but thought that this thread might enjoy his idiocy. I just don't understand his thinking; how was I the asshole, there?

    Love this game, though.

He's probably really sensitive and as getting declined from a gaming request carries no context you probably hurt his feelings deeply. YOU MONSTER.

I read online that if you get the 3 gambling books it's really easy to make money.

Trying this myself, I've noticed there's two effects.

On the smaller slot machines, my payouts went from like 500 to 3,000. On the giant slot machine in.. Uh.. I forget the name by it's in the casino on the right of Royal Flush Plaza, it greatly increases your chance of winning. It didn't take long at all for me to make the 2 million needed to buy the Knight boots.

But if you're planning on unlocking the "Win 5 million in TIR" achievement at any point, you might as well do it now.

I had a ton of trouble with them, until I discovered the:
Flame gun thing. Its a toy gun + tiki torch, and can be made right in the Yucitan before going upstairs. I was really, really struggling until I found that, and it took them down.

Also - spoiler about how the fight ends. Was a pleasant surprise to me, but if you're really concerned you may want to spoil yourself now and find out...
You only have to beat one of them. So focus on one. I was focusing on one anyway, just to try and give myself more space to move and not be watching the sides - but once the first girl died, the cutscene played.

A long range method is to load up on assault rifles, and back away from them while shooting. They will move faster than you, but as long as you hit a couple times, they will get stunned. Then run away and repeat.

    And yeah, just kill one.

The easiest way to get money is probably to grab the gambling books and play the giant slot machine in the Slot Ranch casion, which has abnormally high chances of giving you $100,000 and $50,000 off $1000 bets (of course, it helps if you have a decent bank already since it can take up to 30-40 rolls before you hit a winning streak, just in case). You can probably make a million in about 10 minutes.

Even more conveniently, if you play it co-op whenever you win your co-op partner will also get the money (which is exceptionally helpful for the co-op player, since they don't lose the bet money).

Keys are treated as key items, so as long as you don't start a completely new game with a level 1 Chuck, you'll have them on your next playthrough.

What items and stuff carry through a playthrough?

Also, how is rescuing survivors handled? If I rescue someone on a playthrough, are they still needed rescue on my second one? If I kill a psycho and gain access to something (trailer), do I keep access on the second playthrough?

All weapons and items are reset when you start over. All you can keep is your stats, and access to the maitnenence (sp?) room right from the start, as opposed to having to wait til after the first Zombrex dosage.

EDIT: So yeah, key items stay.

It runs fine and it doesn't crash. You can't rebind the keys for some reason, but that's less of an issue if you play with a controller (which I do).

I don't think it's limited to the PC version, but texture quality is really inconsistent. Some textures are really high resolution (such as the Playboy ads), but others are pretty low resolution. The low resolution stuff sadly includes most of the menus.

Does anyone else really like TIR? The only real complaint I have is that Bounty Hunter is total ass with an Xbox 360 controller and you can't just switch to KBAM for that game so I find any match in which Bounty Hunter is in is one I almost always lose in.

Anyway, where can I get these gamblin' books? I have 600k banked from TIR so I might as well just play some slots. I do enjoy TIR though. Slicecycles is soooo fun. I'm pretty good with Headache, Stand up Zomedy, and Ramsterball too.

Case 0 is probably a good way of telling whether you'll like the full game or not. Plus, at $5 it's a real great value for what you get (about 3 to 4 hours of gameplay for all achievements which are fun to get in themselves).

Edit: The only worthwhile carry over is the extra costumes for just having a Case 0 save file. The levels (only up to level 5) and combo cards (which are probably early level and survivor ones) are not going to make a huge difference if you end up getting the PC version.

I got all three TIR achievements now. The biggest pains for me were:

    a) Getting the highest score in Bounty Hunter.
    b) Getting Pounds of Flesh -> Master Shafter to show up as playable games.

Seriously, I have over $1m in TIR cash now but I've only played Pounds of Flesh and Master Shafter like three times as opposed to playing the rest a bunch more. I don't know if I've had bad luck or they just have really low odds of showing up.

Yeah I was going to wait a few months till I tried that. I'm not sure if we can guarantee all of us in one game at this point in time.

The first time I played it I tried a Ranked match, but no one showed up into the game, so I tried a non-ranked game, won an event but lost the show overall and

-I didn't get to keep any of the cash I had won
-I didn't get the achievement for winning an event

I don't think non-ranked games "count" for achievements or prizes. So we wouldn't be able to cheese it with an all PA group.

EDIT: God dammit, I hate my net connection.

Here's how teh last 20 minutes just went
-Join up for a ranked game, one guy takes forever to hit "ready." I win the first round of Zomboni (Even after I got stuck in the wall) but during Pound of Flesh I get a "Lost connection to your opponent."
-The next THREE attempts to get a ranked match have me put into an empty game, forever waiting for 3 other players who never show up.
-Finally I got into another game, only to have it disconnect before it even loads.
-I try one last time, get into a game, start losing at Ramsterball and then get disconnected again.

    I guess I can write off those achievements/unlockables. :P

It's probably not even you. The entire implementation of TIR sucks, including matchmaking and the servers. I've been dropped several times for absolutely no reason and I have no connection problems with anything else (or that, 1 minute later when I find another match just fine).. Every single game of Ramsterball is also plagued with horrible, horrible latency problems (balls warping all over the place) making the game a serious crapshoot (it's kind of hard to ram into the other guy when they just warped halfway across the room from me -_-)

I think I said this before, but I find the best way to get a game is to wait until he finishes saying "But you can call me TK, baby!" and if it hasn't found one by then, back out and try again. This has worked pretty well for me - at the most it might take 4 or 5 tries of that to find one unless there just doesn't seem to be anyone playing. I'm quite sure the matchmaking is broken so sitting as the host waiting for 3 people seems to almost never work (personally I suspect it just doesn't give the server enough time to find an active game, and then when it dumps you into a room as host, it won't actively search for other partially-filled games, which it probably tries to fill first, thus leaving your room empty for a looooong time)

Anyways, just got Zombie Genocide Master! W00t! What a frustrating achievement. You basically need to get 1000 kills per game hour with 1 game hour leeway (72,000 kills and technically you have 73 hours since the military comes at 10am - odd for something called "72 hour mode" but whatever :P). With the SUV it's not super hard to get 1000 kills/hour, but if you fuck up like I did, it could cost you.

Basically I said, "hey, I am way ahead of schedule on my kill count and I still need the explosives achievement... every explosive except the gas tanks the zombies push around is out here, I should try to get that too!".... and then I did, but you see, that stupid act of running through Slot Ranch to the Food Court to get that last explosive (even though I went out Yucatan which is right where the SUV is) cost me so much time that I was seriously behind. I started saving on a different slot after that, just in case, but basically first time my game ended at ~71,850 kills. Since it was so close, I went back to my last save and got it up to ~71,900. No dice. Luckly I had split my save again around 8am Day 4 (the other save was 9:30am, so I had like 5 minutes to kill a thousand zombies which was crazy). Loading that up, I was able to just barely get it before time ran out. So yay, didn't have to restart back from where I foolishly went after that other achievement :P And now I have both achievements! :D

And now for the playthrough where I get all the other damn achievements done. Which is going to suck because I still need the one for the 1000 gas zombie kills which means I have to do the majority of the case files. At least I don't have to save anyone I don't want to (though I apparently have to do quite a few pyscho fights for some of the weapons :(). I suspect the melee weapon one is going to suck hard. There are so many god damn melee weapons in the game...

Ive played TiR 3 times, and every single time gotten Ramsterball/Pounds of Flesh/Lance one.

I got lucky enough to get my jacket and quit tir after that. It isn't worth the trouble to get the achievements.
