I am about to leave for Boston and I read "The venue is in the middle of nowhere and finding places to eat will be tough," will we be force to pay $15 hamburger at the PAX food court?? I am worry.

Don't expect to find a McDonald's anywhere close. I did a google search on the area and there wasn't much for fast food very close by the convention center. I'm hoping the food court is somewhat reasonable, I wouldn't want to pay a ridiculous amount for "cheap" food or waste an hour to leave the venue in search of cheap food for lunch.

Last year at the Hynes we just walked to the mall food court and got some food there.

depends on what you consider close. south station is about a 15 min walk and has a food court (mcdonalds included) with a few other places in the surrounding area. a little more time/effort, but if you really want to save cash the option is there.

haha yea it looked far on the google map
I've been to boston plenty of times but I still don't know my way around it :P

    what should i be packing?

i'm a florida boy but i've had experiences with cold weather, my question mainly circles around whether it's going to be cold INSIDE the convention as opposed to outside, should i pack heavy duty weather clothing? or light weather clothing that i can remove once inside the actual convention?

With all the bodies in the same space it'll be comfortable to warm unless you're in PC in which case it'll be hot with the addition of running hardware. But as always temperature tolerances are different with the individual so really only you can effectively judge how you'll need to pack.

I keep trying to find it on the forums but I can't.

We're on our way up and my friend left his badge home. He can just print out of the confirmation barcode with his id and bring it to will-call and get a new one, right?

We treat PAX passes like a concert ticket and they shouldn't be forgotten. Check with registration upon arrival and make your case but there are no guarantees.

I think its the first time any of us have been there with 60,000 of our closest friends so there's no way to tell for sure. Light layers that you can take off /put on as your needs change seems to be the smart way to go.

    Weather update:

Tonight's forecast: dark, and continued darkness until scattered light in the morning

    OK, now the real report:

It is raining and will continue to do so all day today (Friday), with some heavy downpours included. Saturday and Sunday should be cloudly but clear. Notice I said should, after all this is New England.

So, for tomorrow, expect a raw day, as we say out here. If you're not already here, I sincerely hope you're travelling plans won't be delayed too much by the storm. Here's to a safe trip for you all.

About that weather.... well I live in Pennsylvania... ALL schools are closed because of FLOODING!!! D:<
WE WILL GET THERE LATE.....Before my computer class was ganna leave at 2pm after school.. we would have gotten to Boston at like..8pm.. But now that most of our schools are closed everyone I know who is going to Pax with me was like freaking out with each other and we tried to get ahold of our teacher lol. So finally we did and she told me that she is ganna call all of us who are going to Pax with her at 10am.. which means... hopefully we will get there earlier to actually go to the convention..but just a little late...

NOW HERE IS MY QUESTION xD
Because of the flooding around where we live..It will take us awhile to get to PAX.... we have our badges... could we walk up to the desk thingy and get our lanyards even if we get there late?

You know why people have eyes in the front? Because they have to move forward to see the landscape in the distance. If you had eyes in back all you could see is your home town getting farther away; you can't move forward like that. If your eyes are in front what you see in the distance keeps getting closer. That's what lets people move forward.

I never got my three day pass in the mail and was unable to go today. If I go to customer service tomorrow, will they issue me a temporary three-day badge kind of thing if I bring in valid photo ID and my confirmation (with barcode)?

It was a most excellent day. I met great people, played great games and had a great time. I don't even mind the blister on my toe from all the walking. I'm looking forward to another equally great day tomorrow.

I had heard that there would be no booth babes at PAXEast, something that I was very happy to hear and very excited to see in action. If this is the case, WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THE SPRINT BOOTH?

Now I may not be up to date on my definition of what a booth babe is, but 4 women wearing high heels, in short tube dresses seems to fit my conceptions of pandering to an undersexed audience pretty well.

Any idea why Sprint gets special treatment?

These ladies stand on high-heels for 8 hours just to earn a daily paycheck. If you have problems with Sprint, I suggest you take your problem to Sprint. Don't blame PA and don't blame these ladies. These ladies are doing their jobs. If you can't stand these ladies, don't go to PAX on Sunday. Don't ever come to PAX.

Um...I'm actually kinda curious myself because I usually end up working as one of those booth ladies (not for sprint specifically, but as a product demonstrator; it's how I pay my bills). I genuinely want to be there and really need the money and the companies these days try to do a very thorough screening for girls who are actually into games/cons, but if I'm gonna be escorted off the premises while doing my job at Prime this year, I'd rather just buy a ticket and go as a consumer.
